MODULE 16: 3 ways to sign new clients

Emma Naylor-Weston shares three ways to land clients without a big audience: host small in-person events of 3-5 people, ask past clients for referrals with a simple script, or run a paid beta program at a discount to gather testimonials and refine your offer.
To you about the best way to generate your next few clients. You don't need 100 leads, a six week launch Runway or a viral video to really get your next clients. You need clarity and connection and you really need to be making sure that you're getting in front of the right people. So last week we spoke about masterclasses and challenges. Okay, Both are brilliant, both are super magnetic, but today I want to zoom out a little bit, right? Because your next three clients may not just come from these big masterclasses and challenges that you're hosting. There are three unique ways that have worked really, really well in my business and have also worked for a lot of my other clients. So the first thing that we're going to look at is in person events. Okay? So getting offline and into rooms with people who are your ideal client. People buy from people and they can always feel the energy way more when you're in person. Right. We are in a hyper digital world at the moment and it means that in real life is actually your unfair advantage. And the reason it works is because we're able to build trust at lightning speed face to face. You stand out as a leader by just showing up and being in rooms in person and you get to really read energy and body language and interest in real time. So what we're able to look at is the sales cycle is so much smaller. So there's a few different ways that we can do that. Right? You can first of all attend events that are already curated. What that means is you can start leveraging other people's networks so you can attend events that are already happening. You go as an attendee, but actually you are thinking about how do I speak to these people who I know are my ideal clients and how do I start connecting with them so that they can start buying from me. So actually, leveraging other people's networks and already existing spaces is going to be so, so useful for you. What we can also be looking at is thinking about, like what kind of events do you actually want to be attending? Are they co working days? Are they women led networking? Are they specific to your niche? So that's what we really want to make sure that we're thinking about. And then once we know, okay, who are the kind of guests that are going to be at that, we can then make sure that the pitch and the conversation and the elevator pitch that you've got going on is really going to land to them. And we've got a clear path of how we're going to turn them into Clients. The second thing that we can think about doing is actually hosting a mini event, right? I know a lot of you right now are thinking, okay, who's in my community, who's around me? What can I do? So thinking about a really low key luxury event, you know, three to five women, three to five men, whoever your ideal client is, you know, where you have drinks, you get some food, whatever it is, you share value. There's such a big opportunity to create a mini event to position you as a thought leader in that space. What I want you to think about these mini events is they're not necessarily going to leverage. They're not necessarily going to be like, oh, I'm going to make $100,000 off this event straight away. And that's not really the point in it. The point is, is that you are going to start to become a leader in this space who is actually bringing women together and starting to have these conversations. So what then happens is you pitch, you position yourself as an authority and then people start to really go like, oh, wow, what they're doing is amazing. They're really like, they're really good at pulling women together. Wow, imagine what it would be like to work with them. So we want to make sure is that when we're hosting these in person events that we're actually adding a lot of value. We're not just like trying to get people in the room without really thinking about what the long term strategy is with that. The long term strategy is becoming a thought leader in that space, bringing people together, and therefore you're going to start converting people. The final thing that we want to be thinking about is like, when you go into these rooms, whether you're curating the rooms or whether you're attending networking events or spaces that are already created, you want to be the one in the room that says, like, what do you do? And actually listen, right? Not just pictures. Because what we have to think about is a lot of these women have genuinely come to network, as have you. So what we want to make sure that we're doing is we're not just pitching to them right off the bat and feeling like all you're trying to do is sell to them. So you don't have to be good at attending events, you don't have to be good at creating events, right? You just have to be present and be bold enough to talk about what you do. And maybe the first step you take is go, right, let me attend some networking events and then let me think about pulling something together in person. I know that there is so many of you right now who are inside the freedom Circle, who already have a few networks, a few people in there where you're like, actually I probably leverage and get three to five women inside of a space. And that actually leads me on to the second thing that is so good for getting new clients and this is referrals, right? Stop sleeping on your network. Your network is huge and most people are sitting on goal. They just never ask for the business or never ask for introductions, right? Referral energy is like warm energy, right? Like you already walking in with trust that's been already built by someone else. And the reason it works is because it leverages your credibility that someone's happy enough to to introduce you to their network. So they're obviously already trust that you know what you're talking about and they're happy to put your name, their name associated with your name. It feels really personal and not just salesy, right? Because if you've got that referral, it's someone actually going, hey, I know this person that could really value from your services, not just trying to sell or pitch for no reason. And it also opens doors that you did not know existed. So it's going to open doors that you did not know existed that are already sitting right in front of you. So what I want you to think about today is like, where are three to five past clients, colleagues, business friends, even like you know, people in your immediate network or further out network. Could you reach out to them and say hey, like I'm doing X, Y and Z. I know that you work in X, Y and Z. I've got a couple of spots open for this offer that I'm creating. If you know anyone looking for support in this area, I, I'd love an introduction. And we can also take that a bit further and say, hey, I also offer a referral fee. Now that is something that if you feel comfortable to do, you can say, hey, I offer a 10%, a 20% referral fee. And what you can also do is create like a one pager, right? A simple DM script that they can send to their network or a simple one pager PDF where you're like, hey, if you know anyone that's interested, here's a little bit more about my work. Make it super simple and make it easy for people to refer their network to you. And then the final thing we want to be thinking about is like beta programs, right? A lot of people really sleep on beta programs. And what this basically means is you are getting Paid to test your, your process. You're either getting paid to test your process or you're getting feedback to test your process, right? So your first or next clients don't need perfection, they need your presence, they need clarity, they need results. Right? And what a beta program can really, really do is actually start creating a smaller version of the program or it can be the full program at a reduced rate. But what you can be thinking about is what do you get back, right? You can get testimonials, you can get video testimonies, you can get feedback, you can get people in your world, you can start recording things for your portal, you can start having conversations with people, you can refine your method while you're getting paid even a small amount, right? So here's how you're going to run one. If this feels aligned to you, you're going to create the offer that is like short, specific and super juicy version of your bigger offer, right? Kind of like what we spoke about with the mvp, but it's going to be kind of in between an MVP and in between the high ticket offer. And we're going to create something that's a little bigger, right? We're going to charge a lower price, but we're going to make sure that you're clear. It's a paid test and we want to make sure that we're setting the expectation. So we're testing the format to bring the full value to life. You're still going to get incredible value, but we're testing the format. And in return we would like feedback after every session. We would like X after every session. We would like a video testimonial. Whatever it is. This is going to build massive momentum and it's also going to build confidence with you quickly, right? Because what it's going to make you realize is price almost leaves price almost leaves the conversation. And it's just, how do we get people into this? So you can start practicing and pitching and having conversations. So your action plan is to think of the masterclass, a challenge in person, events, referrals or a beta program. So I want you to think about which one are you going to be focusing on at the moment, right? Because remember, you don't need a big audience, you don't need 10,000 followers, you don't need like just to wait for it to feel ready. You just need a few aligned humans who are going to say yes and a strategy that is actually going to bring them to your door and, and then a strategy that is going to allow you to deliver So I want you to start going out and thinking about, where are those next few clients? How do I start bringing them in? And remember, all five of these strategies are all going to work differently for everyone. But I want you to pick what feels really, really good for you.
