Hello Evan! You seem very excited.
Why?
I don't know, why are you excited Evan?
We're packing!
To where are we going?
We're going for a month to Japan, and 3 weeks in Japan, 1 week in the Philippines. There's 12 recruiting cities in Japan with a million+ people, and we're going to all of them. And our closet's a mess.
Yeah, look at these. Look at the closet.
I wanted to do just carry-ons.
No, just carry-on won't work.
So we're unpacking, unpacking, washing, packing, listening to dance music to get the energy going, the good vibes flowing, so we could be going You tried to rhyme. To Japan!
I'm stuck.
The music's off. I'm stuck. It doesn't matter. We, uh, we're doing it. My voice cracked. I'm excited. Nina's filming, and we're going to take you on our journey with us. First stop is Japan. 13 hours, 13 and a half hour flight.
Yeah.
And Nina's gonna vlog, and Nina decided to go because she's never been, and I haven't been to Tokyo in 20 years. It's been a while, and let's go.
And I'm gonna see my family, my cousin, who I haven't seen for 20 years at least.
I think I'm not gonna shave for 30 days.
No.
What do you think?
No.
Don't bring any gear, no razor, nothing. Just come back with a beard.
Then I use the tweezers to tweeze your beard off. Wow. You know it's just gonna hurt. Tweeze my face. Well, that's what happened when you don't want to shave.
I think I'm going to be shaving, guys. Okay, let's pack. Evan, you ready?
We're ready.
Yeah, we're ready.
Ready to go.
Ready to go. Yeah, my socks on. Yeah, order our Uber, head to the airport. Japan, here we come. 13 hours, 14 hours, I forget what the flight is.
And then we have Alex Sayan here.
Hey, let's go!
He's gonna take care of our house and then take care of the dogs while we're gone. Yeah, the dogs know something's up.
What are you most worried about with the house the next month?
I don't think I'm worried about the house.
That's a lie.
No, I'm not worried about the house.
What are you worried about?
Worried about the dogs. Yeah, I want them to be well taken care of. Okay. Yeah, they're, they're, they're in love pretty spoiled though. Okay. Yeah, you know. Okay. Filtered water. Yeah, I feel like they eat better than me sometimes, but okay, you know.
Yes, I have a lot more confidence in Alex's ability to look after the dogs in the house, so yeah, that's for— okay. Wow, it evens out. He knows.
Yeah, he knows. Yeah, yeah, he's sad.
He knows something's happened. He's like, don't leave me with Alex.
Yeah, yeah, he's actually holding my hand down. I know. Good boy. You're a good boy. You could find— He was just a baby too, for like a week or 2 weeks.
Remember that?
For a week? I don't remember.
Yes, back when you lived in the other place. Yeah, yeah, he was like 8 months old. I gotta order Uber here, guys.
Okay, okay, okay. Evan's gonna order Uber and then we'll go.
Let's go! Japan, here we come!
Let's go! We finally got through the customs.
That wasn't that bad.
No, it was not bad, but they— the only thing we got pulled was the laptops. What did he say about the laptop?
He said it had a glass case on it, so our machine couldn't read it. But I don't know, I mean, how many trips have I gone through with that laptop with the glass case? Yeah, but whatever, we still have an hour before we board anyway, so we're through. We're— I don't know, I'm trying to rhyme it. Can of ragu, and we're ready to move. Let's go!
What the heck?
Rapping is not my forte, okay? Entrepreneurship, believe in Japan. Let's go!
Evan ordered steak. How's your steak, Evan?
Oh, it's good.
Yeah? Yummy?
I like the sauce. Chimichurri sauce, but not spicy.
I have a salad, confit? I don't remember. Yeah, and then this chicken, but it has a lot of arugula on the top.
Yummy.
It's time to board, Evan.
Let's go. Ready.
Oh, go Canada, go! Are you ready for your 13-hour flight, Evan?
Let's go.
You got a lie-down seat?
Yeah.
You going to sleep?
I hope so.
You hope so?
Cuz otherwise we get in— I don't even know what time we get in.
Probably, I think it's like 4:00 a.m. our time.
Perfect.
Do you need— I have melatonin.
I brought my favorite eye mask. Yes, sponsored by Mavogel.
Sponsor? We pay for it.
It's true. Yeah, Mavogel needs to sponsor this video.
We have landed, Evan.
Yep.
It's very hot.
That's not bad.
It's hot.
No, it's good.
It's hot. Warmer than Toronto for sure. It's humid too. Feels very humidity.
I had, I had my fan on max, so—
Yeah, you were— when I touched you, you were so cold.
This feels great. Yeah, that was It's very cold. Yeah, it's great. I slept 20 minutes and then I slept 40 minutes, so good. Solid hour. Let's go.
All right, okay, yeah, my cousin's, uh, picking us up. We're gonna get the suitcase and go meet him.
You're nervous?
Oh yeah, yeah, nervous because I haven't seen him for like 20 years, so it's kind of weird to see if you haven't seen someone for 20 years. I've never met his kids. Met his wife once on his wedding.
Well, I haven't seen him ever, so here we go.
Welcome to Japan, Evan.
Let's go.
We dropped off our suitcase at my cousin's place and we chill a little bit, have some tea and gel Jello jelly.
Played with the gecko. Yeah, did you film the gecko?
No, I did not. I forgot. Yeah, I didn't film the gecko.
Pretty awesome. The gecko really liked me.
Maybe I should film. Yeah, crawling towards him. Yeah, yeah.
Nina didn't want to touch it. She's super afraid.
Yeah, yeah, I don't like—
I don't like it. Like 5 times.
Yeah, yeah. Okay, we're gonna have, uh, dinner. He's taking us to a local restaurant. I think it's sushi. Yeah.
Let's go.
So this is tuna cheek steak. Evan, you want to give it a try?
Sure.
How is it?
It just melts.
It melts in your mouth? Yum. This one we have to let it cook. It's actually raw. We're going to let it cook and I will eat it, I guess. Good morning, Evan. How was your sleep?
I'm glad I slept.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Actually, recap from last night. We went for dinner.
With your cousins.
Yeah, with my cousin. Then we got back, we stayed at their house.
We're at their house right now.
Yeah, we shower and then we just pass out. Yeah, you passed out at 8 PM local time.
8:30.
8:30, okay, which was 7:30 Toronto time AM.
So we basically stayed up until 7:30 AM.
Yeah, right.
So, uh, Nina gave me a melatonin, which I haven't taken in a long time. Years. And this morning I wake up and I had 7 hours sleep, 8 hours sleep, something like that. Not bad, but groggy. I feel like I have a concussion. I don't know if it's the jet lag or the melatonin or just my massive love for Nina that's causing my brain not to brain properly right now. But you're feeling good?
Nina's feeling good? I feel good. I felt I slept pretty well. But I have to look at my, uh, what do you call it? Oh, the ring. My Oura ring.
That was weird. I just did that. That was very interesting. Okay, so today, I don't know, we're gonna head, we're gonna head to your aunt's.
I don't know, I'm gonna ask my cousin, like, is it convenient to drop by my aunt to say hi and stuff?
And then we go, then we're gonna go to our boat, go to the boat, check in, check in, and live The good life.
We're gonna go for a walk to get coffee with my cousin.
Let's go. Coffee?
Yeah, Evan found this one. I said, oh, it's a 7-minute walk.
7-minute walk. Yeah, wake up, get some vitamin D, sunshine on the face, activity in the bones, and then coffee in the face. Let's go.
Coffee in the face.
Cheers! First sip. Oh, good.
Yeah.
This is the local one. Yummy. When in Japan, drink Japanese coffee.
Evan's going to try this Chiba rice cookie. It's a local snack, Evan.
When you're in Chiba, you have the rice cookies. Oh wow, look at that. That's cool.
Oh, is it good?
Oh wow.
You know, people won't understand when you— oh wow, they will understand how good it is.
So it's cool, it's like a rice cake, you know, like those circular rice cakes. Yeah, but then there's sweet on top, just like the salty rice cake plus sweet whatever it is on top. It's a good combination. You should try it, bite the end. Yeah, yeah, I like it.
Evan's getting a foot massage.
It's more than foot massage, it's also a calf massage. My calves are tight. Oh, it's going on the calves right now. The calves are very tight because I stand up on a trampoline bouncing all day, and so, uh, I need to stretch them out every day. Yeah, but this is, this is really digging in. The foot is nice. Foot doesn't hurt that much, it's just a little on the bottom. But the calves, Jesus.
Yeah, when I touched your, when I touched your calves last night, it was so tight, so I gave you a melatonin. Yeah, and then you fell sleep quickly.
I like it, it's good.
Right now we're going to go to the cruise.
Uh-huh.
We visited my aunt and my uncle who I haven't— well, my uncle I haven't seen for 10 years cuz he came over for one of my cousin's wedding. And then, uh, and my aunt, I haven't seen her for 20 years. And now— yeah, she, she's just like my mom. She likes to serve people fruits. She kept bringing out, uh, fruits. It tasted good. And I was gonna say sugar, but no, she kept bringing out tea. Yeah, very nice tea. Green tea. Those grapes are great. Yeah, yeah. She's like— she reminds me of my mom, like non-stop giving out food. There's— this is the sign of how they, uh, how they show love.
So you should be constantly bringing me food.
No, to yourself. I still love you, but I'm showing a different way.
Okay, there's no love you but. Okay, you don't say I love you and then but after. It's I love you and I love you and I'm showing it differently. Perfect.
Yeah. Okay, right now we're going to go to the cruise.
So how are you showing it exactly?
How do you show it? What did I— what have I done that you feel love?
Many things. I'm just, I'm curious in your own words.
Did I not give you a melatonin because I was worried about you last night?
So you get the way she shows love is to drug her husband. No. Off to the cruise. Yeah.
We made it. My cousin dropped us off. We dropped off the luggage, went through everything pretty quickly. Yeah, and then now just gonna go check with the guest service to see if we can upgrade our room.
Upgrade.
Oh, upgrade.
I got an upgrade.
You got an upgrade?
Yeah, well, that— I got you.
Then you got upgraded a long time ago.
I still got an upgrade.
We dropped off our suitcase, but we can't go to the room yet, so we decided to go eat first because Evan's a very hungry person.
Am I?
No, I'm very hungry.
Oh, okay, great.
So we're gonna go We just had our quick snack. Now we're gonna drop off our backpacks and then go see Yokohama.
Are we bringing them with us?
Yeah.
What, like in this episode?
No.
We're gonna show them the room in this episode? Yeah. Okay, let's see the room and then, and then we'll see you in the next episode. I like her.
They have this necklace.
For me?
Yeah, for you. You'll rock it in that thing.
Oh yeah. Yeah.
All right, this is our place. Decent size.
Patio?
Yeah. Oh, right here. All right.
We are going to Yokohama, which has the world's largest Chinatown. And if you want to see how we go, what we do— what we're going to do— Nina put some shampoo— watch the video right there next to us. We'll see you there. Believe!
