Dr. Joe Dispenza: Change the Way You THINK and FEEL to Produce a Different OUTCOME!

Dr. Joe Dispenza explains how chronic stress from thoughts alone triggers the sympathetic nervous system and keeps people stuck in past trauma. He argues that meditation, gratitude, and visualizing the future as already happened rewires neural circuits and changes your electromagnetic signature to produce different outcomes.

According to the quantum law, you know the reason why we think about our problems? Because it was our thinking about them that created them in the first place. You know why our problems feel so real? Because it was our feelings that created them as well. Change the way you think and feel, and it produces a different outcome in your life. Every time we perceive a threat in our environment, we knock our body out of balance. Now here's the problem with human beings. We can turn on the stress response just by thought alone. We could think about some worst-case scenario. We could plan for something happening in our life, and we want to get prepared for it before it happens. And we put all of our attention on that worst-case scenario, and the body is the unconscious mind expecting the event to happen, begins to change physiologically before the event happens, and we turn on the stress response just by thought alone. Now, if you keep mobilizing all of this energy for some threat that's real or imagined, and we keep knocking the body out of balance, that imbalance becomes the new balance, and now we're headed for disease. Dr. Joe Dispenza is a leading expert in the world of neuroscience and epigenetics. His transformational journey began after a brutal cycling accident when doctors told him that he would never walk again. He has since gone on to write several New York Times bestselling books become one of the highest-paid speakers in the world, and inspire millions of people globally with his story. In this exclusive speech from the Celebrate Your Life stage, Joe Dispenza explains how to deal with stress, produce new outcomes in life, and achieve lasting change. Do you know that you are made of atoms, and atoms are 99.9999 with 13 zeros after it percent nothing, and 1.000 with 13 zeros after it percent something. So you are more energy than you are matter. So how come we keep all of our attention on that small percentage of particles, and we spend so much less attention putting our awareness on the invisible. This short time together today is to explore that 99.999% empty space that is filled with possibility and potential. So if we're keeping our awareness on that 0.000001% of reality, do you think that we may be missing out on something? So the person next to you is an illusion of energy, gravitationally organized light that's sending and receiving information based on how we think and how we feel. So then, if you live your life every single day remembering who you think you are based on a body living in a particular place in the environment, living in some time, then we are living by the laws of the body, the environment, and time. So, middle-aged woman, she's raising her children, she's happily married, things are going really well. All of a sudden, her husband comes home and announces that he's leaving her and going to Buenos Aires with his two secretaries. Now, the trauma of this event produces a very strong emotional reaction, and the emotional reaction that's created knocks this woman's brain and body out of balance. And she's so shocked by the experience, and the rush of chemicals that are created from that event, that every time she thinks about the event, what she doesn't know is she's producing the same chemistry in her brain and in her body as if the event was happening. And the body, as the unconscious mind, does not know the difference between the event that created the emotion and the emotion she's fabricating by memory alone. To the body, it's living in the same environmental circumstances 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. So she goes through all of those reactions. She hates, she judges, she resents, she feels victimized. All of those chemicals all along are running, and those strong emotions are driving her very thoughts, that are driving her very behaviors. And she keeps this emotional reaction lingering for days on end. And people say to her, "Why are you this way? What's wrong with you?" And she says, "I'm in a mood." "Why are you?" "Well, my husband left me for the two secretaries." And that same emotional reaction is lingering now for weeks or months. And they say, "Oh, she just has an angry temperament." And if it runs for years on end, the same emotion, means that she's living her life based on the memory of who she thinks she is, connected to some past experience. And we would say now, that is part of her personality. And you would say to her 20 years later, "Why are you this way?" And she would say, "I am this way because of this experience that happened to me 20 years ago." What she really is saying is, "20 years ago, an event happened that knocked me out of balance. It produced such strong emotions that it branded me, and I haven't been able to change in the last 20 years. And it's become so much a part of my identity that I'm believing that I am something connected to my past." And you would say to that woman, "Why don't you change?" And she would say, "I can't change. You see, you don't understand. This event is the reason I am the way I am, and it's this person's fault." in this condition. Different woman now, raising her children, married happily, she thinks. And her husband comes home and says, "I'm moving to Madrid with my two secretaries, and I'm going with the mailman also." Now, this woman goes through the same emotional reactions, the same reactions emotionally. She's angry, she's hating, she's judgmental, she's insecure, She's fearful, she's resenting, but she reaches a point where she becomes conscious that these emotions aren't loving to her, that living by these emotions are making her sick. And she says, "Well, if I truly loved my husband, what piece of knowledge could I possibly apply in this situation to overcome these emotions?" And so she reads a book on self-love, and she reads a book on unconditional love and forgiveness, and she begins to sort out in her mind that if she truly loved her husband, she would let him go and free herself as well. So no matter how difficult it was in the moment, she makes the decision. And when she makes the decision, she decides to go to school and get a degree and raise her kids by herself. She works during the day, goes to school in the evening, takes her kids to all their sports sacrifices and does all these things. Finally, she scores a new job. She puts her kids through college. She falls in love with the vice president of the company. They travel all over the world. They buy a house in the south of France. Her kids get married and have grandkids. And you approach this woman 20 years later and you say to her, "Yeah, but your husband left you 20 years ago." She says, "That was the best thing that ever happened to me." You see, we are defined by our adversity, and we memorize emotions layer by layer that become part of our identity that are connected to experiences that happened in the past. And we describe ourselves in the context of a story that's connected to the past. How many people know people who do that? I'm asking you today to make up a new story. That the story of the past actually keeps you connected to the past. And as long as you analyze your life within the emotion of some past experience, the answer is never in that emotion. It exists outside that emotion. 'Cause that emotion is connected to a past experience that's connected to a past consciousness. So try this out for a moment. According to the quantum law, you know the reason why we think about our problems? Because it was our thinking about them that created them in the first place. You know why our problems feel so real? Because it was our feelings that created them as well. Change the way you think and feel, and it produces a different outcome in your life. Now, when we have reactions to experiences in our life, primarily those traumas that knock us out of balance, we activate a very primitive nervous system. And that nervous system is called the sympathetic nervous system, or the fight-or-flight nervous system. So if there's a lioness sunbathing in the Serengeti, and there's a group of gazelles walking by, and One of those gazelles is walking with a limp. It's walking out of pattern. And the moment the lioness sees the gazelle walking out of pattern, she becomes very object-focused, single-minded. She obsesses and puts all her attention on that prey. And when she does that, she activates that fight-or-flight nervous system to mobilize an enormous amount of energy because survival means food for her cubs. Now, the gazelle who's strolling along, minding her own business, all of a sudden sees these eyes looking through the brush. And the moment she recognizes the predator, she turns on her fight-or-flight nervous system and mobilizes all of this energy for a threat. And when she mobilizes all that energy and the chase begins, If the gazelle outruns the lion, 15 minutes later, it goes back to grazing. That's called a short-term stress. And every organism in nature is designed for short-term stress. Now stress is when your body is knocked out of balance. Stress is when your body's knocked out of homeostasis. The stress response is what your body innately does to return itself back to order. Now, we pretty much have 3 types of stress. We have physical stress, like trauma, accidents, injuries, falls. We have chemical stress, which is like pesticides and pollutants and heavy metals and flus and allergies and hormones in foods, blood sugar levels. And then we have emotional stress: traffic jams, internet connections, second mortgages, single parenting. And when human beings Every time we perceive a threat in our environment, we knock our body out of balance. Now, here's the problem with human beings. We can turn on the stress response just by thought alone. We could think about some worst-case scenario. We could plan for something happening in our life, and we want to get prepared for it, before it happens, and we put all of our attention on that worst-case scenario, and the body is the unconscious mind expecting the event to happen, begins to change physiologically before the event happens. And we turn on the stress response just by thought alone. Or we remember some past experience that's happened in our life, and we attend to it to such a degree, to the exclusion of everything else, that we produce the same chemistry in the brain and body as if that event was happening. And the body, as the unconscious mind, begins to be strained to either live in the future or live in the past and never live in the moment. Now, if you keep mobilizing all of this energy for some threat that's real or imagined, and we keep knocking the body out of balance, that imbalance becomes the new balance and now we're headed for disease. Now here's the problem. Those chemicals of stress, when we react to something, trauma in our life, it produces a drama because those chemicals of stress that mobilize all of this energy are highly addictive. They give the brain and body a rush of energy. When the gazelle is being chased by the lion or the lion's chasing the gazelle and they are in survival, and all that energy is being mobilized, the brain wakes up, the body wakes up, and there's a jolt of energy. Now, you and I, when we live by those hormones of stress, and those hormones create that rush of energy that's highly addictive, we begin to become addicted to the problems and conditions in our life so that we can reaffirm our addiction to remember who we think we are as a somebody. In other words, the problems in your life, the bad relationship, the poor job, the unhealthy circumstances, we keep those things in place to reaffirm the emotion that we're addicted to, to remember who we think we are based on some past trauma. Now, when we live like that, those chemicals then begin to cause us subconsciously to crave the experiences in our life or to reaffirm the experiences just so that we can get that hit. And so we look for the conditions in our life, and when we reproduce the same effects, we get to cause a reaction within our body and say it was something outside of us that caused us to feel this way. Now, when the gazelle is being chased by the lion, and it's mobilizing all of this energy. That gazelle is only concerned about 3 things: its body, the environment, and time. In other words, "Oh my gosh, there's a predator on my tail. I better take care of this body. Where in my environment am I going to go, and how much time do I have to get there?" And when we live by stress, you and I, We obsess about our bodies. We obsess about our body parts, what we look like, what our hair looks like. We obsess about things in our environment, what we have and what we don't have. And we obsess about time. And because the chemicals of stress cause us to focus on those 3 things, we begin to focus on that 0.00001% of reality, and we begin to define reality as materialists. With our senses because reality becomes very real in that moment. And when we live by those chemicals of stress, we begin to become very selfish, self-involved, self-indulgent, very self-centered, self-important, because the self then is identified as a body in the environment and in time. But that's not who we really are. And the emotions that are created by those chemicals of trauma are anger, hatred, frustration, aggression, fear, anxiety, insecurity, pain, suffering, hopelessness, powerlessness. Those are the emotions that are created by the chemicals of stress. And those emotions endorse the ego to remember who we think we are as a body in the environment in time. And if we keep turning on the stress response and we can't turn it off, now we're headed for some disease. So what was once highly adaptive, highly adaptive in survival—we're being chased by a lion, we better turn on that fight-or-flight nervous system—but when you're going to the same conditions in your life and you're seeing the same coworker or the same relationship or the same place that produces the same experience, now all of a sudden becomes highly maladaptive. And all of this energy that's being mobilized because of our perception of the way we think things are causes no energy for growth and repair in the body. And so the systems begin to break down. What happens if you keep turning on the fight or flight nervous system and all the blood's going to your extremities and away from your internal organs? What happens to your digestion if you keep that response running? You have some type of digestive disturbance. If you keep turning on the fight-or-flight nervous system and your heart is racing because your body, as the unconscious mind, thinks it's being chased by a lion, and you keep racing your heart, you will condition your heart to race on its own, whether it's high blood pressure, tachycardia, arrhythmia. If you keep turning on the fight-or-flight nervous system, By thought alone, thinking about some future event or some past memory, that in time you'll put all of that energy into your muscles, that adrenaline. But you don't fight or you don't run, so that energy stores itself in the tissues and hardens, and that's called pain. And 80% of our culture has pain. What happens to the immune system? You keep turning on that emergency system for some threat in the external environment, and there's no energy for the internal environment, the immune system has no energy to catch up. Flus, rheumatoid arthritis, MS, cancer, all the same. What about infertility? You think it's time for a long-term building project if a woman is constantly under stress? It's no time to grow a baby. What happens to the brain? The very chemicals begin to cause neurons to fray. So then the trauma in our lives that produces the strong emotional addiction, that reaffirms who we are based on some past memory, then causes the drama in our life to continue, because when we are under the chemicals of stress and we're reacting emotionally, there's always a gap between the way things appear and the way things really are. And that refractory period of chemicals that's created from your reaction to some condition in your life. And if you react when those chemicals are running, you'll always say the same thing: "I should've never said that." "I should've never done that." "I should've never thought that." "Oh my God, I should've never sent that email." Because those chemicals cause us to act like an amped-up animal with a big memory bank. Now these emotions— you want to take a test to see if you're addicted to an emotion? Just take a test, okay? I want you to think of a time in your life when you were really angry. And if I came up to you and I said, "Listen, I know you're really angry, but here's what I want you to do. I want you to stop." What would you say to me? Don't say it. Now, isn't an addiction something you can't stop? So if you were able to control your anger, you should be able to stop it in a moment. Would you agree? So then what happens to us over time, that these addictive chemicals become the very mechanism that continues to knock us out of balance. And those chemicals begin to dysregulate or downregulate the genes that begin to create disease. So then if we can turn on the stress response just by thought alone, that's how powerful we are, and those chemicals are highly addictive, and they begin to push the genetic buttons that create disease, then it's our very thoughts that make us sick. So then, if our thoughts make us sick, can our thoughts make us well? That's the question. So that woman then, who was jilted by her husband, she works now, in really poor conditions, and her boss disrespects her because that's the energy she puts out. He has attention deficit disorder, so she does all of her work and his. She's working late at night, going to bed late, getting up early, preparing for the most important day of her life, for a promotion. And she's missing meals, she's drinking a lot of coffee, She's doing everything she can to keep herself going, and so she's getting ready to catch a plane to fly to Chicago to do this big presentation. And for 2 weeks she's been preparing for it. Now she's taking her children to her mother's house to drop them off before she catches her plane, and her mother's gonna take the kids to school. Halfway to her mother's house, her daughter forgets her ballet slippers. So now she has to rush back to the house. Now time is becoming an issue. She rushes and drops her children off at her mother's. She gets on the freeway to catch the plane, and the freeway is jammed with traffic. Now her heart rate starts to pick up. She's knocked out of homeostasis. She thinks she's going to miss the plane. So what does she do? She pulls over on the side of the road, rides along the shoulder of the road, Breaks the law. She gets to the airport now. There's a huge security line. She cuts in line. People are yelling at her. Only the New Yorkers that moved to Phoenix are yelling at her. And she's crying hysterically. She grabs her bags. She runs to the gate. She gets to the gate now. She's the last one on the plane. She sits down on the plane. And when she sits down in her seat, All of a sudden she notices her heart starts to race, and she starts to feel this visual narrowing, and she can't catch her breath, and she starts feeling like she's losing control. What is she having? Panic attack. But here's the deal. The moment we notice a change in our internal chemistry, the moment we're knocked out of balance, we always look around in our external environment to see what's causing it. So she thinks, "Oh, it's crowded places. I have a fear of flying." She makes an association in the immediate moment, but she forgets that she has been missing meals, she's low blood sugar, she's stressed out, she's drinking a lot of coffee, she's not sleeping well. Her body's completely out of balance. And by her worrying about her presentation, her body, as the unconscious mind, was getting the same chemicals over time, and she conditioned her body to memorize anxiety better than her conscious mind. And whenever the body knows better than the mind, that's called a habit. So she conditioned her body to live in anxiety. So the plane takes off and she makes her way, she does her presentation, she's driving home after she lands, she has to pull over on the side of the road, she has another panic attack. Now she can't even control it. And as she begins to worry about the next panic attack, by the very means of worrying, it's actually reinforcing the condition. So then, She gets home and she realizes that— she calls a friend and her friend says, "Oh, you had a panic attack." So then she goes to the doctor, and the doctor says, "Oh, this— you have a chemical imbalance in your brain. You see, it's a hardware problem. It's circuits and chemicals and molecules. And here, take this drug, and this drug will help balance your brain." Now here's the question: even though she's using the chemicals to balance her brain, Is she healed from the condition? No. You know why? Because the insight of having a chemical imbalance changes nothing, right? And the fact that she has a fear of crowded places and flying, she will still avoid them. So she's walking with her girlfriend now on the street, and her girlfriend says, "Oh, you know, you should see my psychologist." So then she goes to the psychologist, and the psychologist says, "No, no, no, no, it's a software problem in your brain." 'You see, your father was very overbearing, and he was a perfectionist, and you feel, you know, overburdened every time you get in a stressful situation.' And she has this amazing insight. Now, even though she has the insight, does it change her condition? Hmm? So then she goes to the psychic. And the psychic says, "You were burned at the stake in Carcassonne in the 1500s. You are a charismatic Christian." And she feels so important in that moment. Now, even though she has the insight, does it change her anxiety? So then she goes to the astrologist. And where is Mercury? Now, even though she understands Mercury is in retrograde, does it heal her anxiety? Now listen, there has to be a new model that has to be created. Because every time we have a thought, we make a chemical. And if we have a great thought or an unlimited thought or a joyful thought, our brain turns on a set of circuits in a specific combination and sequence that produces a level of mind that turns on another part of the brain that creates a chemical for us to begin to feel exactly the way we were just thinking—great or unlimited or joyful. By the same means, if we have a negative thought or an insecure thought or an unworthy thought, we turn on different combinations of neural circuits that produces a different level of mind that produces a different chemical that makes you feel exactly the way you were just thinking: negative, or unworthy, or insecure. Now, here's the deal. The moment we begin to feel the way we think, because the brain is in constant communication with the body, we begin to think the way we feel, which makes more chemicals for us to feel the way we think, and think the way we feel, and feel the way we think, and the cycle of thinking and feeling over time creates what I call a state of being. And if we can't think greater than how we feel, or feelings become the means of thinking, we'll never change. To change is to think greater than how we feel. Now, the redundancy of this cycle of thinking and feeling and feeling and thinking conditions the body to memorize that emotion better than the conscious mind. 95% of who we are by the time we're 35 years old sits in a sub- subconscious memory system, a set of memorized behaviors and emotional reactions that run like automatic programs behind the scenes of our awareness. And we call that an identity or a personality. So, how many people here— well, you'd have to be over 35 for this, but— couldn't consciously remember a phone number on their phone? But you walked over to the receiver and you picked the phone up and you went like that. What's up with that? You can't consciously remember it, but you practiced it so many times, you experienced the same event enough times, that your body knew better than your mind. Now, 95% of who we are is a set of memorized behaviors that run just like that, in which the body is the mind. So would you agree then, if you had an insecure thought, all of a sudden you begin to feel insecure? Come on. The moment you begin to feel insecure, you would think more insecure thoughts? Then you begin to feel more insecure, and then you think more insecure thoughts. And if you did this long enough, someone would say, "What's up with you?" You'd say, "I am insecure." And whenever we say "I am anything," what we're saying is our mind and body are working together. Our thoughts and feelings are aligned, and we are in a state of being. So then all of a sudden, you know, We have this insight: "Oh my God, I can't live like a victim any longer. Today I'm gonna stop. No more complaining, no more blaming, no more making excuses." Of course, if you're Italian, "No more self-pity. You're just gonna stop today. Just gonna stop it." Now remember, you've been doing this for 20 years because you had some experience that branded you emotionally and it turned into a mood. And into a temperament, and ultimately into a personality trait. And your personality is based on the past. And when you live in that state of thinking and feeling, and feeling and thinking, your body is the unconscious mind, is literally living in the past. And you can't go to a new future holding on to that emotion of the past. So you have this insight and you say, "That's it. I'm not gonna think the thoughts of a victim. I'm not gonna behave and complain and make excuses. I'm not gonna feel this way. I'm just gonna become somebody else." It all starts out really good for about 2 hours. But remember now, the body is the mind. The servant has become the master because we've conditioned it that way. All of a sudden, you're breaking this chemical continuity and the body kind of goes like this, "Hey, what's going on up there? We had a thing going. I modified my receptor sites for you. You told me what to do." "and I've changed to fit your addiction. And you think you've been making all the decisions, but I've been making all the decisions for you to reaffirm your addiction." He says, "We can't have this." See, the servant says, "Where you been for the last 20 years? I got this. As a matter of fact, I know how to do this better than you. You can't remember, but I can dial the number for you." So all the cells of the body get together and they say, 'Listen, let's send the message back to the brain.' So right up the central nervous system, right to the thinking brain. It's called the fast track. Now, at the same time, your chemical levels of suffering are dropping because you're not thinking and feeling the same way. And there's a thermostat in your brain called the hypothalamus, and it notices that you're not getting the same rush of emotion. And the body wants to recalibrate back to its familiar self. Based on who we think we are. So it sends a message to the thinking brain. That's called the slow track. And the next thing you know, you start to hear those voices in your head. "Oh, you know what? It was my ex-husband's fault that I am this way." "My mother was that." "I don't feel like it." "Tomorrow's a better day to start." And that's the body sending messages back to the brain. But just because you have a thought doesn't necessarily mean it's true. But when we respond to that thought as if it's true, consciousness immerses itself back into the program, and we return back to the old self, thinking the same thoughts, performing the same actions, living by the same emotions, but secretly expecting something different to show up in our life. Now, to change is to begin to go into the operating system of the subconscious where all of those programs exist. To become conscious of your unconscious thoughts. To become familiar with your unconscious behaviors that are subconscious programs. To begin to look at those emotions that have always been there, that have become so familiar that we think it's who we are, but those are just chemical memories from the past. My name is Liz Dawn, and I'm with Celebrate Your Life Events. And the presentation that you've been listening to was recorded live at one of our Celebrate Your Life conferences. And this program was created exclusively for Evan's audience, and I'm super thrilled to share this information with you. So come check us out, take a look at all of our retreats and programs and conferences that we have to offer. Click the link below and And hopefully I'll see you in person. All right, now let's get back to the presentation. The word meditation in Sanskrit means to cultivate self. To cultivate self. So then if you eliminated the environment and you no longer were taking in the same information and you began to observe yourself and look at who you were, and you began to look at how you thought and how you behaved, the mere fact of your observation of yourself would mean that you could no longer be yourself. You're something observing yourself. And that level of awareness begins to separate ourselves from the program. Now, most people don't want to do that. They'd rather get on the, you know, TV with the remote, or they'd rather get on a cell phone and complain, or get on the computer, distract them from that feeling. We use everything outside of us to try to make these feelings go away. And that's what creates addictions. Because behind every substance addiction, there's an emotional addiction that most people can't overcome. And there's an innate desire to want to overcome it. But they— everybody thinks it happens outside of us. So to cultivate self, These masters come out of the Himalayas, they're walking through the fertile valley, and they're healing the sick, and they're performing all of these miracles, and the villagers say to them, "How in God's name do you do this?" And they say, "You have to cultivate self. You have to dig up the old self and plant a new self." How many people here have actually planted a garden? Planted something? Now, what if you left the plants from the past year and you left those weeds that went by unnoticed by you that represent those thoughts that slip by and you never tenderized or fertilized the soil and you left the rocks that sifted to the top that blocked potential and you cast your seed on that plot of land? What kind of fruit would you bear? But what if you pulled out the past and you pulled out those weeds and removed the blocks that were your emotions and tenderized the soil and planted a new garden and cultivated it every day with your mind, your attention, and your inspiration? So then, to cultivate self then means to break the habit of the old self and reinvent the new self. It's to unlearn who we used to be and relearn who we want to be. To what we call in neuroscience prune synaptic connections, and for those of you who come to the workshop tomorrow, I'll show you pictures of what that looks like, and sprout new connections. To unmemorize emotions that exist in the body, then recondition the body to a new mind or new emotion. To deprogram the old self and reprogram the new self. To pull the energy out of the past and begin to create an energy into the future. Now, did you ever notice when you're in a state of creation, when you are inspired to create something, that you become so present in the moment, so involved with what you're thinking about, what you're doing, that you forget about yourself. Did you ever notice that? That's my definition of creation, is when I forget about me. And when you pay attention to such a degree that there is no body, there is no thing, there is no time, you go from keeping that hindbrain that's turning on the chemicals of stress to activating the forebrain, the crowning achievement of the human being. And when the forebrain turns on, when the architect or the CEO or the symphony leader gets back in control and you want to pay attention to something, your brain does something very natural because we have all the machinery. It's like a volume control. Your frontal lobe doesn't want to be distracted by your body. It doesn't want to be distracted by things in the environment. It doesn't want to be thinking about time. And so like a great symphony leader, Your frontal lobe looks out at the landscape of the entire brain and has connections to all other parts. And it begins to quiet down the motor strip in your brain. And when it cools off the motor strip, and there's no brain activity in the motor strip, there is no mind in the motor strip any longer, and you become very still. And then it cools off the sensory strip, where you feel your body. You feel your arms and your legs and your face. And if there's no brain activity in the sensory strip, there is no mind to process your body. You become no body. There is no body. And it cools off the circuits in the parietal lobe that have to do with your sense of time and space. And if there's no brain activity to process time, there is no time. And it cools off the association centers in the temporal lobe where you identify with your problems and the people in your life. And if there's no brain activity there, then there is no identity, there is no body. And it cools off the emotional centers, and when that happens, the thought that you're thinking literally becomes the experience. And the brain captures the thought as the experience and upscales the hardware to look like the experience has already happened. Now, we do this all the time. You can drive down the road on the freeway, and you can be so involved with what you're thinking about that you just drove 45 miles. You didn't see anything in the environment. You didn't feel your body. You lost track of time. Well, who's driving the car? That same exact state is the state that we create in. Now, isn't it ironic? Think about this. In order to change something in your environment, i.e., your life, to change something in your body, or to change some potential line of time, that in order for you to have an effect on that, you have to become nobody. You have to become no thing. You have to become no time. You see, you can't walk through the door into the quantum field as a somebody. You've got to walk through as a nobody. You have to enter as pure consciousness because that's what this field is. And laying down the ego and becoming Selfless. To forget about your body, to become nobody is the art. And when we begin to practice this enough times, we begin to implant information into the field. And when you become nobody who's no longer thinking and feeling and feeling and thinking in the same cycle, the identity's gone and you're no longer turning on these survival centers, these hormones in your body. And you're not that person anymore. Guess what happens? That energy from there moves somewhere, and guess where it moves? It moves right to your heart. And you begin to fall in love with the moment. And when that happens— now, this is not metaphysical, this is physiological. I've studied it. There's research being done right now that when you begin to create and you begin to take your attention off your body, your environment, your time, energy moves right to your heart and you start to feel expanded. And the moment that happens, the body is freed from the chains of those addictions. And the side effect of true creation is joy. Because the body is no longer attached to the past or living in the future, it is now in the present moment. And the brain upscales its hardware to reflect it and the body gets a new emotional signal. And when that happens, we recondition the body to a new mind. And you open your eyes, and you're different than when you sat down. You see, I tell my children when they all work on something in their life, I always tell them when they finish their meditation, "You cannot get up as the same person who sat down." If you get up as the same person who sat down, nothing's happened. Nothing's happened in a quantum field. Nothing's happened neurologically. Nothing's happened chemistry-wise. Nothing's happened genetically. You are the same person. You have to get up as if you just had the most amazing experience in your life, and you have to convince your body emotionally, as the unconscious mind, that that future event has already happened, so much so that you're living that future now. And when you're able to do that, you've gone from from thinking to being, and you've primed the brain and body ahead of the experience. Now, people will say to me, "Well, isn't that fake it till you make it?" And I say, "Really? How many times have you driven down the road in your car, you start thinking about telling off that coworker? 'Oh, I'm gonna— I'll wait till I get there. I'm gonna tell her this and do that.'" You start rehearsing what you're gonna say and do, and then you get yourself so worked up The thought becomes the experience, and you begin to produce the chemicals in your body, and your body begins to believe it's living in that future now. Then you go, "No, no, no, I'm not gonna tell her off. I'm gonna go get the boss, and we're gonna walk in there together." And then you plan this whole 'nother scenario. You're pumping all this adrenaline. "No, no, no, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna write an email." And then you're driving in the car and you're writing this email. "Oh, no, no, no, no, no." You back up and you're writing this whole thing. The thought that you're thinking is the experience, and your body is the unconscious mind, is living in that future and preparing it for the event ahead of the actual event. And then you say, "No, no, I'm gonna quit." And you get to your job, you open the door, you walk out, and you slam the door. Hello, walking, talking maniac. And all you did was drive to work. That's how powerful we are. Now, all I'm saying is instead of obsessing about your problems, I want you to obsess about your possibilities and convince your body emotionally that's already happened. Because if your brain and body are already changed physically because you changed your mind and rewired it, firing and wiring new circuits, and allowing yourself to emotionally feel what that feels like, epigenetically signaling new genes in new ways, that you are changed in your brain and body and the experience has already happened. So then, that quantum field that's 99.99999% nothing is beyond your senses. You can't define it with your senses. And that when you begin to forget about defining reality with your senses, and you're no longer a materialist, you're beginning to put your awareness on that 99.999%. And that's when you begin to imprint information into that field. And as you begin to change your electromagnetic signature, because you're changing the way you think and feel— the way you think is the electrical charge in the field, and the way you feel is the magnetic charge— and you broadcast an electromagnetic signature every day. That influences every single atom in your life. And you and I are so powerful that we have energetic bonds to everything in our life. Now, this is why change is so hard. You meet someone for the first time, you say, "What's your name?" Rosemary. Rosemary. "Hey, I'm Joe. Where are you from?" Arizona. Arizona. Place. "Hey, I was gonna live in Arizona one time in Scottsdale." Do you know these people? Yes. You know those people? I know those people. People. And were you at that wedding at that particular time? Yes. And you know those people? Yes. Event. And you've experienced those things? I experienced those things too. Now if we share the same experiences, the end product of every experience is an emotion. If we share the same experience, we share the same emotion, right? Come on. Yes? Yes. Yeah, if we share the same experience, we share the same emotion. If we share the same emotion, we share the same energy. Now, just like a sodium ion and a chloride ion, or two oxygen molecules, we're bound by energy beyond space and time. And as long as you don't change, everything's going to go really well. So think about this. If everything is energy, and your emotions are energy in motion, then if you live by the same emotion every single day, Would you agree that your energy is the same every day? Come on. It's the same exact energy. It's frozen as the day before. And tell me where possibility is. Zero, because the emotion that's familiar is blocking the unknown. The unknown doesn't have an emotion yet because there's no experience to connect with it. Am I reaching you? Yes. So then everything that you've interacted with in your external environment and produced an experience you've smeared your energy over. Now, this is why it's so hard to change, because you are bound to people and things and places in your environment in a field of energy beyond space and time. And as long as you live by the same emotion every day that you're addicted to, and you don't overcome that emotion, you're connected to the present reality that we call your life. Start to unmemorize the emotion, and the body goes into chaos, because it can no longer predict the future moment based on the past. You're in the unknown now. This is where most people return back to the familiar and they say, "Whew! I almost lost my mind there." So then stepping out into the unknown to begin to break the addiction of what emotion that you've memorized that's become part of your identity Listen, we are karma. What is karma? We're not punished for our sins, we're punished by our sins. There's no white guy on a cloud up there taking notes to make— with a beard, making sure that you're being good. It's not how God works. It is self-reflective. So then if you're living by the same emotion that's driving your thoughts, and an emotion is a record of the past, and your cells need information to evolve. And information from the environment through new experiences comes from emotions. And you're living by the same emotion, the cells aren't getting any new information. So people say, "Well, how did I develop this cancer? I don't have a bad attitude." That's exactly right. But you know what? The cells didn't get any new information. The cells stayed the same, and that's what began to push the genetic button. So then if the emotion stays the same, then the gene stays the same. Would you agree? And if you can't overcome the emotion, and those emotions are driving your thoughts and choices, then you're going to keep creating the same thing in your life by free will. Unmemorize the emotion, change the gene, signal a new gene in a new way, roll up your past, and now you get to a new future. And the soul then says a memory without the emotional charge is called wisdom. And that's the name of the game here. So then karma then is living in the same state of mind and being connected to past experiences. And if we don't overcome those emotions, we stay connected to those experiences and we can never create anything new holding on to the emotions of the past. And so when we're born again, In a next lifetime, we're born with the same genes and the same conditions. Because we haven't overcome the very emotion that kept us connected to some past experience. So then, every time we begin to look at the self, layer by layer, look at those emotions, and begin to look, "God, this anger, this hatred that I'm expressing every single day towards someone who isn't even alive anymore." that I'm excusing my behavior for something outside of me, is only affecting my own cells. I'm only doing this to myself. I can't free myself, or that person, until I let go of the emotion. And if you're living by the same emotion of hatred every day, is it possible if you keep signaling the same gene with that emotion, that the moment the person breaks free from the emotional addiction of hatred, Their acid reflux goes away. Go figure. Because the body is no longer strained emotionally. It's new information. And new genes turn on in a matter of moments. So then, most people do then is they try to make that emotion go away by using drugs or alcohol, or creating a new identity in some way. But until we look down at that emotion and we begin to overcome the addiction, When the body is free from the emotional addiction and it's no longer living by that chaos, the body is liberated. And that energy moves out of the body and it begins to move into the field because the body is no longer holding on to the emotion. And that energy now is available energy that you get to use as a Quantum Creator to design a new destiny. So then, this is a time in history where information is so available. Everybody knows this already. But it's a time in history now, everybody wants to know how. You want to know how to do it. How do I begin to make these changes? How do I begin to overcome some aspect of myself? Science is the contemporary language of mysticism. It is the language, contemporary-wise now, where we get to understand more about ourselves. And nobody's excluded from it. When you learn a little bit about yourself, you learn a little bit about brain waves and what meditation really is, and to get beyond the analytical mind and begin to make those changes into the subconscious, it's easy. But the hardest part, as I said yesterday, of all of this, making the time to do it. Making the time to wake up in the morning and say, "Listen." You think Martin Luther King wasn't afraid? He wasn't afraid? He was afraid, but you know what he said? "Let me remind myself who I'm not gonna be today, how I'm not gonna think, how I'm not gonna act, how I'm not gonna feel. Let me become so conscious of who I no longer wanna be, and let me remind myself who I do wanna be, how I am gonna think, how I am gonna act, how I am gonna feel. And I'm not gonna get up." until I am this person. And when I am this person and I move into the state of being, I'm connected to something greater. When we live by the chemicals of stress, we are always trying to force the outcome. You know what I mean? We are always trying to predict it. We're trying to control the outcome. And we're trying to control it because we're trying to control something that is uncontrollable, which is the field. And how can something new happen in your life when you're trying to control the outcome? But when you are in an elevated emotion, when you are in a state of grace, and you have created a new ideal of yourself, and your heart is open, and your mind is clear, and you begin to feel connected to something greater, you're more energy and less matter. Because the survival emotions cause us to feel more like material, more like matter, and less like energy. But when we move into those elevated states and we are more energy and less matter, we feel connected to something greater. And people say, "Well, how do you know what's gonna happen?" And you say, "I just know. And I'm not even gonna get in the way. I'm too busy being it." And as I said yesterday, living in an emotional state when you are in an inward process of gratitude when you create something. Most people give thanks when the experience happens. That's Newtonian physics. That's cause and effect. The quantum model says you have to give thanks ahead of the actual experience, so much so that you convince your body emotionally that the event has already happened. That's what gratitude is, isn't it? It's already done. And when that happens and you create a coherent signature, and you tune into a potential that exists in the quantum field electromagnetically, get ready, 'cause your body's gonna be drawn to a whole new experience, or better yet, the experience is gonna find you. And it's gonna come in a way that you never thought of, that you least expect, that surprises you, that catches you off guard, so much so that you have no doubt that you made connection to something greater, and you have a two-way communication with it now. And you're so inspired you want to do it again. Now that's called evolution. And new genes turn on because new experiences are created, and cells get new information, and it begins to rewrite the program in a matter of moments. And so yesterday I said, you know, the biggest reason why— I asked the audience how many people actually woke up this morning and created a future. But first I asked how many people believe that thoughts are 'produce a destiny.' Everybody raised their hand, and then I said, 'How many people actually do it?' 10% of the audience. Because nobody believes that it's true on a gut level. If you knew it was true, you would never miss a day. And the only reason we don't do it is we trade it off for some addiction. Because when we live by some emotional addiction, we are more convinced that we are matter and less energy. So nobody chooses us. We choose ourselves. We have to then begin to ask ourselves some important questions. What is the greatest expression of myself that I can be? To be reborn again in the same life, your brain will literally reorganize its circuitry to reflect the new consciousness. And the body genetically will begin to be signaled with new information. And if you can signal your body emotionally ahead of the actual experience, then be prepared because the experience has already happened. And if you're living the same life, and you're living in routine, and nothing's happened to you, no new experiences are happening, that's because those emotions are driving your thoughts and your behaviors. And if you can predict the emotion or the feeling of every experience, tell me how the unknown's gonna show up in your life. Tell me. Because that feeling is a record of the familiar. We have to then understand that the inward journey is about making thought more real than anything else, to such a degree that the thought that we're thinking becomes the experience, and the experience produces an emotion. And we begin to give thanks, or fall in love, or open our heart ahead of the actual event, and we begin to signal the body genetically before the experience happens, So now the experience finds us. And when it finally shows up, it's way better than we ever imagined. And it catches us off guard to such a degree that we are humbled and empowered in the same moment. And nobody is so special, no one is so special to be excluded from this. I don't care the color of your skin, your gender, your past. I don't care any of that. Hardest part of all of this is making the time to do it and getting beyond the feelings of the familiar that talk us out of greatness. We talk ourselves out of greatness because of some emotion that we think we are. So Pavlov takes a volunteer dog, straps him to a table, rings a bell, feeds him a meal, comes out the next day, Does the same thing. What happens after a few days? He can ring the bell and no food, and the dog, listen to this, autonomically or automatically, its body begins to change physiologically ahead of the actual experience. Now, if you're addicted to an emotion, if you're addicted to emotion, it's no different than being addicted to chocolate. If you were addicted to chocolate and I slid a chocolate cake in front of you, what would happen in a matter of seconds? You start hearing these voices, "Oh, go ahead, just take a bite." No, everybody else is eating it. Why don't you just eat it? You start tomorrow. You know, all that shatters. That's the body sending signals to the brain. That's what an addiction is. Now, what happens if you take one bite of the cake? You eat the whole cake. Then you feel guilty. So then, would you agree though, if you broke the addiction to chocolate, you wouldn't autonomically or automatically start to salivate and your stomach start to growl? If you broke the addiction, I could slide the chocolate cake in front of you and you could eat it or not eat it. Would you agree? So why do we keep returning back to the same self? Because when we're addicted to an emotion and we have an emotional agreement with someone or something or bond in our life that's emotional, guess what? The moment we see that person go to that place and we have an energetic emotional bond there, the moment we see that person, just like Pavlov's dog, If we're addicted, we begin to subconsciously, autonomically, or automatically, physiologically change to return back to the same identity. You sit down in your meditation in the morning and your body is raging because it wants to return back to the familiar. All the voices are happening in your head. It's telling you you're not good enough. It needs the emotional rush. And you say, That's all you got? That's it, body? Because I'm gonna wait till you're done. And when you're finally done, I'm gonna recondition you to a new mind. And you're gonna be so much happier when I did. When you have that kind of willingness, when your body starts to do that and you work with it like an unbridled stallion— you know, I have horses, and when I get on my horse after I haven't been on him for a while, he smells the mares on the other side of the property. And he's got one thing on his mind, and it isn't me. And he'll buck and kick and run me into the wall, and if I grab those reins and I pull them in and I stroke them on the side like that and I back him up 2 steps, he'll stop and this big snort will come out of his nose, and I'll slow him down and I'm reconditioning him, the animal, to a new mind. The body is the servant, it's the animal to the new mind. And when you have that kind of willfulness to go a little bit further than where you normally stop, right on the other side of your impatience is freedom. Right on the other side of your fear is courage. It's just the same energy, just transmuted into something else. Right on the other side of your suffering is grace. It's the same energy. And when you break the addiction in your inward practice, in the morning, you overcome yourself, you walk back into your life and the emotion is no longer in you. You could stand in front of your enemies, you could stand in front of the conditions in your life, and you wouldn't autonomically or automatically respond because it's no longer in you. And all you see is who you used to be. And when you see that, you have compassion and love and caring, and you're not knee-jerking And the same response, matter to matter, particle to particle. There's a time in history right now, as I said yesterday, to demonstrate greatness. If you don't like the war, then stop arguing with your neighbor. You can't stand up for war if you're at odds with somebody. You can't. You can't say, "Peace be with you," and then have hidden agendas. You can't have If you have a judgment about the government and its deception, if you are deceiving people, first you gotta take that away. If you don't like greed, start giving. Demonstrate it in every area. Lead by example. So that people say, "I don't know who you are or what you are, but I want what you have." And when you change your energy because you change your emotions, you change your life. And so what if you woke up in the morning every day, and instead of getting up and remembering yourself as the same person, you know, slipping out of your slip— you know, into your slippers, shutting the alarm clock off, walking to the mirror, remembering who you are, to define who we think we are. What if you said, "I'm gonna become somebody else today. I'm gonna have a new story. But here's the deal, I'm not gonna get up until I am it. And I don't care how long it takes." But if I could overcome some aspect of myself today, who would benefit from that? First myself, then my family, then my community, the people I work with. We have lived by these limited emotions for too long, for generations. And we have been pushing the same genetic buttons that create the same genetic conditions in our life. And our karma then is written in our genes. And when we overcome the emotion, we overcome the gene, and the body begins to change, and we make our way towards wisdom. And as those circuits in the brain are pruned away, and the genes are no longer signaled emotionally, and the body reorganizes itself to a new mind, all of that information is now stored in the soul. And the soul then only wants one thing: new experiences, new opportunities, new knowledge, new adventure. And that's then when we get to celebrate our life. Thanks for listening. The concept in neuroscience says that nerve cells that fire together wire together, and it's the repetition of how we think think and how we behave and how we feel that causes gangs of neurons over time to repeatedly fire
