Okay, we just checked in at the Sapphire Princess and we're gonna head on the ship, and Nina's here and is very excited. All right, we're finally on board. We're going We're going in. How we feeling, Nina?
Ah, I just want to get to the room.
All right, we lay down, had some showers, feeling fresh. Now we're hungry. We're taking the stairs because that's how we do. Hold on, we gotta pause. Look at how nice Nina looks today. First meal time. We both really wanted salad, but the salad bar is closed, so I have a weird bocconcini sandwich and I think that's rice pudding. And Nina has— oh, you got some veggies in there. Yeah, that's pretty good. Oh, look at that huge avocado.
Yeah, that's what I told you.
Avocado and tomato. Oh, nice. Okay, well, we're going to enjoy our first meal. How, how does it feel to taste some water? Nice, eh? Okay, we're going to enjoy. So we did a day of walking and my crotch is on fire from the chafing, and Nina gave me some body cream. What did you give me?
Body lotion.
Body lotion. And I put it on and it looked It's really dirty. But I put it on and now it kills. And I have to walk like this. I can't walk with— This is how I walk now. Thanks to Nina's body lotion. Alright, hopefully this gets better tonight. If not, the dancing will be fun. So we just got back to the room and my parents surprised us with a special gift. We have a couple roses. We've got A bottle of champagne on ice. We've got a letter. We've got a facial or massage. I think I'm going massage on that one. Some Godiva chocolates and some chocolate-covered strawberries. Just for us, so thank you Mom and Dad. We love you guys. So we laid down, fell asleep, woke up and it's almost 9 o'clock. So we've got to rush for dinner. Dinner on the boat. We are— I'm kind of— I'm a zombie right now. Very exhausted. Hopefully we sleep tonight. Nina had a nightmare. I had like an action adventure dream. So we'll talk about it over dinner probably. But first dinner, here we go. So we got here and discovered that there's a dress code. And I'm in shorts and sandals, and Nina's in sandals too. So they're not very happy with us, but it doesn't All right, it's salad time. We've been yearning for salad all day. Nina got Caesar and I got field greens with lemon. All right, it's 11 o'clock. We just basically came back to the cabin and crashed. Nina fell asleep, so we're just gonna, uh, sleep and start the day again tomorrow. Welcome to day 3. Nina woke up at 4:30 and woke me up at 5:30. We are very hungry, so we're going for breakfast. The good news is my crotch doesn't itch anymore. Or it wasn't itching, it was hurting. It was hurting. The cream helped.
It was chafing.
Yeah, chafing. There you go. Didn't get the wrong impression. We're going for breakfast. Breakfast and then back to Hong Kong, and we're going to go to— I think it's Lantau Island, which is a— there's a huge shopping mall there so Nina can get some tops and a giant Buddha. So we're gonna go check it out, but I need some food first. So here we go. Okay, round one. I've got sausages, hash browns, eggs, watermelon, and a chocolate bun. Nina has a lot of the same stuff with bacon, and oh, I missed these little potatoes. I didn't see those. And, uh, what's that? What's this?
This is the hash Beef hash.
Okay, round 2. No first breakfast on a cruise ship is complete without Froot Loops for me. And Nina is going for more congee. And look at that. What did you put on top? What do we have?
It's just the shredded pork.
How you feeling?
I'm very full.
You're very full? How come?
I had too much congee. 3 congee.
I was feeling like I had a lot of crap, so I'm gonna take a nice salad back with me to eat while Nina has a shower and gets ready. So we just got on the bus and we're heading towards the We're going to the Lantau Island where there's shopping and the Big Buddha. And I'm super excited because there is a Uniqlo here. One of my favorite companies. It's closed right now, but we'll hit it on the way back. I'm very excited. So we're at the train station in rush hour. Everybody's on their way to work. We're waiting to catch our train to go see the Big Buddha. We are going to take the cable car, which is one of the longest cable cars in Asia, up to the Bronze Buddha, which is the largest sitting bronze Buddha in the world. We're looking for some coffee and some snacks too. We're hungry. We arrived. That was a fun trip. We are both starving. We gotta eat, and we are gonna find a cafe and then head out to the Buddha. First place we found is the Zen Noodle Cafe, so we're gonna get some lunch/breakfast at 10:30 in the morning.
Nina got the spicy ramen, the vegetable ramen.
I got the cutlet. So I just discovered they have a Starbucks here. I'm going to see if I can convince Nina to grab a coffee as we walk to the Buddha. We're going to the Buddha, which is all about peace and calm and tranquility, I think. I'm not actually sure, but I think. And I think what better way to really feel the absorb— you know, the peace and tranquility and awesomeness than to go have a nice awesome Starbucks on the way.
Starbucks.
What do you think? Starbucks first. Yeah? Nina got a hot drink when it's mega hot outside. The woman kind of looked at her like she was crazy. You know, like, you want a hot drink today? See that sun beating down? There's the Buddha in the back. Okay, what are you having? You had the dark caramel macchiato, and I got the new French vanilla frappuccino. Cheers! Let's try this. What do you think?
Yeah, it's good.
OK, so they told us it would take 15 minutes to get to the top. We're going to do a time check. I think we can beat 15 minutes. We have Starbucks in us.
11:31.
11:31. OK, go. Here we go. 2 stairs at a time. Here we go. Here we go. Let's do it in 5. Let's do it in 5. Time check.
11:34.
3 minutes, people. Okay, let's relax. So the view is pretty amazing up here. We've got rolling hills, we've got temples, and just kind of expansive view. But it is scorching up here. It's hot. We're gonna take the cable car back and then, and then go do some shopping. Shopping. Yes, get out of this heat. Okay. So the outlet mall is a big bust. They're all mostly American brands and a lot of the prices are more expensive than you get in the, in the US. Maybe because they have to import it. So a little sad because we came here for Nina. Nina's sad. We were gonna buy some stuff for her. But we're gonna probably head back and go to Uniqlo. And maybe some other stores we find along the way. Okay, Believe Nation. I didn't find anything at Uniqlo. Very sad. But Nina got a new jacket. Look at that. Yummy, yummy. And what did you buy? A new cardigan? Huh? A cardigan?
Cardigan.
And something for your mom. I like that jacket. And it's cool because it goes up into— it folds up into a bag. Just like mine. Shopping with Nina. We came for me, but we're buying like 4 things for Nina. Back on board the boat. We're gonna— we're peckish. We're peckish. So we're having our chocolate-covered strawberries, and I picked up a slice of pizza, which is vegetarian, and added a whole bunch of Parmesan and oregano on top of it. We're gonna chill, watch some Million Dollar Arm. Hopefully we don't fall asleep and then get ready and go for dinner and maybe some dancing tonight. What do you think, babe? Dancing? Yeah? Yeah?
