Sylvester Stallone talks about how challenges turn him on and a lack of enthusiasm turns him off. The video weaves together Rocky quotes, "Eye of the Tiger" lyrics, and Stallone's philosophy on perseverance to show how he rose from nothing to create an iconic character.
Rocky, do you believe that America is the land of opportunity? Yeah.
Rising up, back on the street. Did my time, took my chances. Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet. Just a man and his will to survive. So many times it happens too fast. You trade your passion for glory. Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past. You must fight just to keep them alive. It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight. Rising up to the challenge of our rival. And the last known survivor starts his way in the night. And he's watching us now with the eye of the tiger. Face to face, out in the heat. Hang tough and stay hungry. There's not the odds. Do we take to the street for the kill with the skill to survive? It's deep-eyed tigers, the thrill of the fight, rising up to the challenge of our rival. And the last lone survivor's fangs are spreading the night, and he's watching us every year. Tiger rising up straight to the top. Had the guts, got the glory, went the distance. Now I'm not going to stop. Just a man and he's built to survive. It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight. Rising up to The challenge of our lives. I'm the last lone survivor from 6 brave men. I'll be left tonight. There is the eye of the tiger. The eye of the tiger.
What in this whole world turns you on? Challenge. I really just, I just love No, I love it. You know, I love being told no. Gotcha. It just means yes. You know? To you? Yeah. What turns you off? Lack of enthusiasm really turns me off.
Evan, your newsletters have taught me not to quit. I look forward to them every week. They have changed my life.
