Alright everybody, welcome back to another business Q&A as we play League of Legends and answer your entrepreneurial questions. It's Friday, I'm pretty happy. Jay and I are in game, or queuing up at least, and we have some crazy experiments that we're trying out that we've never done before, but I woke up with this crazy idea to test out and Jay is always good for a crazy experiment, so So we're gonna see. We're gonna see what happens. We're gonna see. There's a low percentage chance that this is gonna actually work, but we're gonna give it a shot and see what happens. And that wonderful laughing voice is my usual co-host Rishi Cupp TV. Rishi, how you doing?
I'm great, Evan. Cup of hello to you. Cup of hello.
You know, yesterday in the live streams that we had on YouTube, Zeno was given some cup of blanks in the live chat. Cup of love, cup of whatever it was. The cup of vibe is spreading to Holland and around the world, just so you know.
Yeah, well, there was a lot of cups in the chat today, so shout out to Soul Forest and Zeno and All the cups going on. Lots of fun.
Okay, so far so good. We managed to get our lane. We got bot lane. We got bot lane. Do I need to—
Nice.
Did I even pick the right thing? I should change my masteries around here. Bonus damage to minions and monsters. Okay, whatever, we'll see. Ban a champion. Who do you want to ban, Jay? We want to ban— Yasuo.
Yi.
We'll ban Yi. Okay, Rishi, what is in the cup today?
Cool, so I've got a quote for y'all and a cup of— I've got a cup of become.
Cup of become? Wow, okay.
Yeah, wow. So here's my quote for you all today.
Okay.
There is no place so awake and alive as the edge of becoming.
All right.
And that's a quote from Sue Monk Kidd. Sue Monk Kidd, she's a world-renowned author and writer. There is no place so awake and alive as the edge of becoming. So there you go.
I love it. Wow.
Hit you on the head with something deep in them. Right at the top.
I like it. I like it. Well, our team is looking interesting. Do you want to do Warwick mid and— Okay, well, I feel like everybody on our team is experimenting, not just us. So we'll see what happens. I have cups of everything here in front of me. I have a cup of pumpkin spice latte from JRise. I got a cup of vitamin water from Nina. I have a big cup of water here, cup of protein drink, cup of J-Rice nettle tea with some honey in it. I even have a cup of hard-boiled eggs that Nina made me this morning. So this— oh, and a cup of pills of probiotics and whatever's in there. That's— so you guys have a sense, that's what I— that's why I don't get hungry for lunch very quickly.
Amazing!
It's amazing.
You're out.
Yeah.
How do you have more cups than me? Like, you're kind of stealing the cup thunder over here.
I feel like it's just been influenced by the cup thunder. I feel like you can't steal it, you can only share it. There you go. Cup of sharing. Cup of sharing. Okay. Well, I would like to warn everybody that my focus might be all over the place today as I do this new experiment. We will see what happens. Leona, Miss Fortune, yeah. Good luck.
Do you want to shout out people in the chat?
Yes, yes, I love it. Who do we have? Well, Rise Online starting us off talking about Gents My cat watches the stream. I love it. What's this little icon of this person waving? What's happening? Oh, you're putting it up. It's an emoji. But your team is worried that you're going to steal the jungle.
No one wants you to steal them. I can't hear Jake, but he's talking about, I think, the stealing offender.
Is that what he's talking about? No, they think I'm going to steal— my team isn't sure what I'm doing here, so I just had to give them some clarity so they don't rage on me.
Cool.
Zaino's here. Rishi's sharing emojis like crazy. De Flores One is here. Danny Flores on YouTube, welcome Danny. All right, well, we're gonna get in our game and see what happens, and let's, let's get into some questions.
I love it. Okay.
Thunder clap!
Love it. Okay, so our first question is coming from—
where does Nidalee usually go so I can counter?
Oh, usually—
oh, where does she start? Yeah, uh, blue, because she's gonna start blue, probably. Okay, but it depends. She can start anywhere. Okay, good. All right, chaos! The chaos is beginning. Yes. Okay, first question, hit it up. What do we got?
She'll probably start wherever her bot lane is.
Okay, got it. We're ready.
Everything's good, we're good, we're ready. Okay, let's do it. First question comes from— I think it's Perea. Sorry if I killed the pronunciation, but Perea says, dear Evan, I have nothing to say now, but Thank you very much. Thank you, Evan. That's it.
Oh, that's it. Wow, okay. Well, thank you. That's a great way to start. I feel a couple gratitude for that message.
I love it. I think it's great, you know. Always remember that it's important to say thank you. I love it.
Well, I guess we already went through things that we're grateful for in the last one, so. Good, thank you, thank you for that, makes me feel good, I'm happy, much love. Next question.
We can't say good luck.
Mmm, and good luck.
And good luck, there you go. Okay, next question comes from Joshua, and Joshua says, I have some questions for you, sir, that I think need to be cleared.
Alright, Josh.
And then he has 4 questions that we can kind of do a quick round, maybe. So these are patent-based questions. So here we go. Number 1, do I have to file for my patent or get my patent before going for the manufacturing of the prototype? Oh wait, I feel like this is— did we have the same one?
Yeah, I think we did this one already.
Yeah, I thought so, but there's questions here that weren't on the other email, so maybe he emailed you twice.
Oh, well, let's just go with the new questions.
Let me make sure this is okay. Yeah, it is, it is, but there's new questions. So number 2, because we answered the first question, which we said was on the other episode. Number 2, do you have trusted companies that manufacture for your customers? So that's a personal question to you, Evan. Do you have trusted companies that manufacture for your customers? I guess he's asking for a recommendation.
I don't, I don't manufacture anything, so it depends on what he's looking for. Uh, it's a hard one.
Okay. Number 3: Am I still entitled for royalty payment after I have sold my patent, or do I have to decide what the contract will be?
Yeah, it totally depends on the agreement. If you sold your patent and that's not in your agreement, then no, you get nothing. —where usually with that kind of deal, you either get zero upfront and you don't sell the patent and you just have a licensing arrangement. So every, whatever, every year you renegotiate and say, I'm gonna, you know, we're gonna look at how much you're selling, whether it's an exclusive arrangement that you have with them or not. So that's one option, or you just flat out sell it, or some combination where you sell it, they own it, and then they pay you a percentage for however long— okay, I helped that guy— however long you guys agree to.
Okay, great. The fourth question is This is the last question. Evan, please, can you help me with a presentation video? I just want to have a bit— I just want to have a bit of a clue of how it's done at the same time I can build my repertoire. But yeah, I'm going to guess that's not— I'll let you respond, Evan.
He wants help in building a presentation video?
Yeah, can you help me with my presentation video? Okay, I guess that would be not related to the patent. This is just maybe regarding his manufacturing, I mean his product, or whatever it is that he's creating.
So yeah, so you know, I can't do anything from here, but if you had something that we can look at, then Maybe. Presentation video just has to make sense. When I look at it, does it make sense? Oh, somebody's— oh no, one of our players is— I didn't even notice. Who's not attached? Oh, very sad. What role is she? Oh, our mid player isn't here. Are we gonna remake? Oh, very sad. We have, uh, one of our players didn't join. Did you vote remake? Ah, yeah. Makes sense. So our jungler went mid. Wow, this is a messed up team. Very sad, they didn't even connect. Alright, that's terrible. Oh no. We'll have to do it again. It's actually good, I was getting destroyed. Okay. Does the experiment work, Jay? I'm gonna make an adjustment. I'm gonna take a Doran's Shield because I know I'm gonna get punished. Okay, okay, we'll try it again. Okay, we gotta queue up again. Let's see what happens.
It's actually really good.
I'm glad it worked out this way. All right, good. Okay, so video just has to make sense, you know. The video, when I look at it, needs to, uh, needs to be something that, uh, as I go through it, like, don't make it insanely long. Just give me the quick gist and have people want to learn more about what you're all about. I would look at Kickstarter videos probably as my go-to. The ones who've done the most sales especially, they have really good demo videos and they're also about new products, new inventions that are just in kind of prototype stage and they're looking for money to grow it, to build it, to manufacture it. So that's where I would look for some inspiration on how to make good demo videos.
Great advice. Okay. Well, good luck, Joshua. Good luck. All right. Next question is coming from Tejendra. Tujendra. Tujendra. OK. Yeah. Tujendra says, hi, I like your channel a lot. Whenever I'm depressed or feeling low, your channel is always there to cheer me up. I need your advice. I'm 22 from India. My dream is to become a football player, but I am not good in studies. I literally suck at it. I like to read, but studying and giving exams is really hard. I always think if I put my mind and interest on sports, I will be the best. Football is everything to me from the start. But when I fail in exams, I literally go into depression. I think negatively. I even lack in self-confidence and self-love. I need help. Please give me some tips and a way out. I really need help. Help me. So you can please give me some advice. Thank you for your time. All right. So obviously lots of things that I could contribute to this, and it sounds like it's a pretty big struggle, but what I'm hearing is that, you know, I mean, outside of the career goals of wanting to be a football player, I'm hearing that he's really struggling just with managing his emotions. Again, we had a question yesterday about that. And when he doesn't perform at the level he wants in school, he's thrown completely into the depression, and I just think in general, a lot of this is, it's so much more than just like, I want to be a football player, or I'm doing bad in my schooling. But it comes down to, you know, more internal mindsets, belief systems that are shaping how you react and respond to life. And so I think just in general, life is going to give you a lot of opportunities to fail and to learn how to be okay with that. So I'm the first one who says I've had a very— it's taken me very long to kind of embrace failure as part of the process. Evan has amazing videos on, on failure, specifically how to handle failure. And I would watch some of those. Sounds like you're already watching the channel, but there's some really great material specifically around just kind of recovering from failure. But the bigger, the bigger thing is that, you know, getting a handle on the fact that there's going to be times that there are things that you fail at no matter how hard you try, and you've got to be okay with that and move forward. Because if every time you're failing, you're falling into this deep depression, You know, you could get good at your schools now, but then next week it might be something else. And so the, I think the greater life skill is learning how to be okay with, not okay, you know what I'm saying, Evan, not okay with failure, nobody wants to fail, but realizing that we all go through that and we have to learn how to move forward from it.
It's an interesting one for me. I have, I have, I'm split if I think about my thought process on this one. On the one hand, I love, you know, I love going all in on the strengths that I found that are working. And so for me, you know, it's YouTube, it's helping entrepreneurs, and I don't care that I'm bad at building tables or— oh, they picked Timo! Holy cow, we gotta go up against Timo! I'm so upset, guys, I'm upset.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
It's probably Timo on top. I know, he's such an annoying champ to play against. That's why I like playing him, because he's so annoying to play against. Anyway, so I love going all in on what's working for me, where I'm finding success, where I'm happy, and not worrying about being a balanced person. I'm not worried about being— that came out wrong. Oh, they got it. So like, as an example, I am not handy. I'm like the least handy person. Did we talk about this before? I think we might have. Like, I can't install a light fixture. I can't. I can't, guys. I cannot install a light fixture.
That's not very believe of you right now, Evan.
Yes, you can. No, I don't want to either. I'm more worried about like damaging the ceiling or, you know, myself. It's not worth getting electrocuted because I don't know how to install a light fixture. So we queued up again now, and Teemo's on our team going top. Now I have to tell them again, I'm going to support/counter jungle. So that's on one side, like, and I'm okay with that. And I used to, I used to worry that Oh, I'm not good at this, so how will people judge me? And so that was super frustrating, but I don't know what kind of sparked the shift. I guess just more confidence in testing it out and testing it out and testing it out. Oh, I have to ban somebody. I'm gonna ban you. And then on the other side though, I don't know that I would I don't know that I feel comfortable recommending quitting on school. I know a lot of people have had success doing it. Um, what's happening with Jay? They banned Heimer. Oh, they banned Heimer. Oh, that's not good. Oh, what are we gonna do now? I have a plan. What? I have a plan. You have a plan? You want me to— I could stay with you and Lane and do— It's fine. You sure? I'll stay with you. I'll do the Spellthief. I'll do Spellthief and then I'll leave after. Once we get some setup. Okay, I told you guys it's chaos today. Today is chaos. We don't really know what's happening yet. It's so chaotic. I don't know that I'm comfortable telling somebody to leave school to just focus on sports. A lot of people have had success with it. There's a lot of role models to follow. Lots of people have dropped out, definitely university. Lots of people have dropped out from school and have had success. Like high school. I don't know what level of schooling this person's at right now, um, but I don't know that, uh, I don't know, I don't know. It's a frustrating one for me. I— my fear is you drop out of school and, and the soccer, if it doesn't work out, then what do you do next? You end up homeless. You end up homeless. So that's my fear. And some people can handle that and are built for that and are like, won't have a problem with it. And some people, that could be the end of the world for them. So that's, uh, I don't know. I don't have a solid answer. I don't know if I saw that.
Well, I think that's— I felt the same way, Evan. I felt torn between you know, going on all your strengths, but like, for me, I just think in general, whatever you decide to do, it's part of a step forward at least, is recognizing that if you're doing football, but you're also going to do school, you do the best you can at school, but if it still isn't what you think it needs to be, like, you've got to be able to be okay with that, and it can't bring you into this depression question because like it just really— there is more to life than falling apart when you fail at something, essentially. I don't know. You know, I—
Because you're right. Yeah, I have a better answer now as I talk that out. Okay. I think for me, before I jump fully into something, I want to see some progress on it. So if I think about— and I've talked about this a number of times on the channel— how when I went all in on Believe, it wasn't just, I'm gonna forget everything else and just go 100% in on Believe. And this speaks much more to my personality than necessarily the right thing to do. This is just how I do things. When I have a new idea, I test it. I test it on a small scale. I test it. And then I see if it's working, and if it's working, then I test it again and invest more resources, and if that's working, then I go all in on it. So when I decided to change everything around Believe, I tested it with my first newsletter. That was it. Everything else stayed the same. Then I tested with my YouTube channel and both the newsletter and one video on the YouTube channel. Both of those did well, and so I just changed everything then around Believe after I showed that I had that kind of forward momentum on it. So the way I respond to these kinds of things are like what I actually do in my life. I keep everything as it is and then I experiment with something new. And if that experiment starts to work out, then I'll jump ship and move all in on that. So if it were me, I would, I would stay in school and focus on, you know, the experimentation with soccer and do whatever I needed to do to be great at soccer, to try to make that experiment work. And I would only leave if I got a soccer scholarship or, you know, whatever the next— whatever the next thing is in the soccer world to prove to yourself that this could be a really viable career for you. And again, it's not necessarily the right way, just how I do it. I'm, I'm, I have a balance of riskiness and risk-averseness where some people, you know, need to be all in and be risky and burn the boats and just that's how they are successful. It's just not me. So hopefully, hopefully that, uh, I'm happier with that answer. I don't know that we solved this problem, but I'm happy with that answer now.
Totally. Yeah.
Okay, so Jay, I'm gonna stay with you bot for the first couple levels, whatever, then I'll go counter jungle. Okay, we have a plan.
We have a plan. We have a plan. All right, we do also have a question in the live chat. Let's do it.
What do we got?
This was the question from the other day, I believe, just a little bit more clarified. This is coming from OptiSource Book. And the question is, if you remember, OptiSource Book is restarting a business that she had, I think, gosh, maybe 8 to 10, you know, hasn't been— there's been a period of not doing this business and now she's restarting. So the question is, this is for a restart of a business. If you go to a customer from the past and ask him to place an ad, should I not charge him, give him a big discount, or no discount? Again, remembering— do you kind of remember the context of the conversation where You know, it's like, what prices do you charge when you're in the beginning of restarting, trying to gain momentum? Right. Do you— yeah. Yep. So I have a question actually in general, because I thought when you— when someone else is placing your ads, you're paying them. So I would just say generally that if you are restarting, yeah, I would, I would say don't charge from the beginning your premium price because you still have to get something going. So I think there is a little bit of compromise that needs to happen there.
I think it really just depends if you can give them the value or not. You know, like, are you selling the same thing that you sold before? Are you selling something totally different, right? If you're selling the same thing and there's a lot of value for him to pick up, then 100%, absolutely start charging. There's Holy cow, our puppy died. Wow, that's really bad. That's not a great start, team. If you're selling a new thing and going to old customers, then, you know, maybe if you're selling like a magazine— I think it was a magazine, right? Like, do you have an audience for the magazine? Are people paying attention to the magazine? Um, right, that's important. Right, man. So I think that's what I would look at. If you're just selling the exact same thing and you're just— well, here's an example. There's a guy who does my catering, right, for my mastermind groups. We have a mastermind group. We meet once a month. And there's a guy who does my catering for me, okay? He does all my catering. He left because he had condition, and he went back to Sri Lanka, and he just— so he left. Great. So for a year, I had to go find another supplier. He came back and he's like, Evan, I'm back. Can you, you know, do we want— can we do something together? And I said, yeah, let's do it. And I didn't, I didn't expect anything for free because he's providing me the same hopefully great service that I got before, and it was. So I think that's just— it comes back to, are you gonna— are you confident in the value you can provide? And you don't need to give a freebie away unless it's— unless you're just still testing it out and you're not sure it's going to work.
Great. Yeah. I think that's it, unless you have anything more to add to that, Evan? No, that's good. Okay, next question coming from Lee. Lee. This is interesting because it's interesting spelling. Lee, L-E-E-A. Lee. Oh, Leah. Leah. Is it Leah then? I think so. Yeah, okay, Leah. Leah. So Leah says— huh? Yeah, yeah, I'm excited. Leah. Okay, Leah says, hi Evan, I'm looking for a manufacturer A manufacturer, and I have found a lot of in between, in between men, like Vona Consulting. I don't know if she means middlemen or in between men, but— Oh, okay, yeah. Yeah, so they say they will find a manufacturer for me. "Get the product made, do the quality control, and they— but they won't tell me who is manufacturing my product. Is it a bad idea or a common thing for people to do that are new to manufacturing?" Cool. So I'm not sure if this is a common thing, but I would assume that there's a lot of people who want to do a product-based business who are just starting out. And I would imagine that there are companies out there who then do exactly this. They try to bridge that gap. I— so I don't necessarily think it would across the board be a bad thing, but I would be hesitant if they're not allowing me the opportunity to know as much as I can because as the person whose business it is, you should have— you should have knowledge about every aspect of your business. So I wouldn't— if they're not willing to give you all the information you need to feel comfortable with that decision, then I wouldn't do it. But I can't say across the board that that would be— a not trustworthy way of doing things. But for me, if it's my business, I want to know every aspect and understand who's doing what and all that good stuff.
So it's a middleman who wants to set up a deal for them but is not willing to say who the manufacturer is going to be?
Yeah, it sounds like they connect connecting her with someone, but the— who's gonna manufacture a product, but they're not telling her who it is. I don't know if that's standard practice at all, Evan. Do you?
It's definitely— there's, there's, there's sketchy elements there. I don't know that I would— I don't know that I would take that deal, but I'm also not the guy like, hey, That— what's that service that you can put in a hotel and you get some hotel that happens to be the same price, but you don't know what hotel you're going to stay at? What's that service? Hotwire or something? Is that what it is?
That is not what I was thinking, but maybe that is another one. I'm sure there's more than one.
There's a service where you put in a price and you're guaranteed to get like a— X-Star Hotel, but— Okay. Oh crap! I should have beat that guy. I'm underleveled. I should have been able to take that guy, but my— yeah, anyway, my levels aren't great. He's 2 levels higher than you. Yeah, but he was half health. I should have been able to beat that guy. Anyway, I'm not— my pathing and strategy here is not fantastic early in this game, but we're actually— Jay's doing fantastically well. Good job, Jay, by himself. I'm kind of like wandering around not really doing anything, and Jay is just destroying there in the bot lane. So I'm feeling it, man. Good job. Good job, Jay. So yeah, I don't like that service. I want to know what hotel I'm going to stay at. I feel like that detail-orientedness in me wants that to— wants that to come out and I want to know that. So maybe I'm not the best person to ask about that. I'm just saying. Oh, we're in a fight, we're in a fight, we're in a fight, we're in a fight. Can we get something? Oh, Jay got a kill! Good job, Jay! I love it. Especially if you're looking at, like, if you were going to do a deal like that, I would try to find a way to make it as low risk as possible. Just some small early start. Oh, Jade got a double kill. What is happening? Just some small early start and not have it be like your, your big thing, because if that's it, if you, uh, have to make this deal with these guys, yeah, then I see it as like, uh How I would approach it is looking at it as a matchmaking service, like, or like a— oh, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, don't die, don't die. I didn't die, yes. I'm not playing well, but I didn't die. Like, what are the websites? Match.com, or, you know, I guess it's good that I don't know all the websites, because I'm not on them, right? That's right. If Nina's listening, she's happy. Right, okay, so those websites, what do they do? They're matchmaking sites, but you still have to go and have a date with them, right? Like, hey Johnny, here's Jill. Jill's a match for you because of these 5 reasons. Oh yeah, what do you think? You know, and so you have to go, you got to go meet Jill and see, right? You don't just You don't just get married and say, okay, well, these guys said it's gonna be a fit, so that's it, here we go, right? So that's how I would approach it. Like, if you're gonna do it, then just make sure that you test it out somehow first before committing to anything.
Please, especially on dating websites.
Well, but it's just as important. Like the manufacturing is just as important. Like you're looking for a company that you're going to marry and be a part of your process for a long time. So it has to work out. And so to do that, you need to test it out on the small scale first. Nice. So it's not like you can still potentially do that. It's just making sure that you have something in your agreement It's not like you need to walk away from them, just you might need to alter your agreement to say, listen, I'll pay you the full amount or however they're getting paid or whatever the deal is if and when I do a major deal with them, but we're going to have to do some small thing first to see.
We got lots of chatter going on. By the way, some people are saying that website you were talking about, either Hotwire, Priceline, Kayak is another one, and lots of other just crazy chatter.
Lots of crazy chatter, all right. I love crazy chatter.
All right, next. Are we ready for the next one?
Yeah.
Okay, next question is coming from Maddie.
JayRyze got a double kill all on his own! Holy cow, well I'm sucking in the mid lane, but JayRyze is just destroying this game. Sorry, I had to give a quick shout out there. Jay is just on fire here. Saving me from all my crappy plays here in the jungle. Okay, next up is Maddie. What do we got, Maddie?
I think I'm gonna actually come back around to that. Okay. Next question comes from Rodney. Ronnie. Rod— Rodney. Rodney.
Okay, Rodney. Yes, I love it. Okay, Rodney.
Hey, how are you, sir? Often hear whoever, I'm sorry, I'm getting a couple, all right, I'm gonna, okay, so I'm trying to figure out, I'm just going to go back to Maddie because I'm trying to figure out if These questions are— remember yesterday we got a couple of pitches? And I'm not sure if these are pitches, but I'm just going to read them anyway. OK. All right. Hi, Evan. I was curious how your channel's working out. I write material, produce videos for self-employed and freelancers. Have you been able to make any money from your audience? OK. Well, I can say Evan's channel is working out really good. I love it. And yeah, that's all I got.
How about what's the latest on your channel, Rishi, before I get into what's going on on mine? What's the latest update? How we doing?
Um, I love what I'm doing on my channel right now. Uh, I am— I don't know if we— we did talk about this, Evan. I kind of went through not a big change, but definitely more focused and clear vision for the channel. So Rishi Cupp TV originally was the YouTube channel where good music, good food, and good talk intersect. And the idea behind that was, you know, in the very beginning it was like when you sit down and are connecting and chatting with someone, usually have good music, good food, good conversation. And I just love the idea of connecting with people. And then I realized just that really at the heart of my channel, what's in my cup, is more, again, instead of focusing on just music, food, or talk videos, it's all still gonna be there, but I think the focus now of my channel is just really Finding ways to produce videos that are entertaining or educational or— what's the other word? My brain is having a moment. Any content that inspires people to just embrace who they are, all of who they are, so like the whole picture of who they are. And so that's when we say what's in your cup, that's what that means. Is what is inside of you and how can you share it with others. So I think it's getting a little bit more clear on my channel that that's kind of the heart of the channel. So that's kind of the more recent update. I like it.
Oh no, Jay died. Uh-oh, there goes the team. Jay, you can't die, man. You're too important. [SPANISH] Well, it is true. All right, well, we got a double kill out of it. I think it's important to understand for my channel, the YouTube monetization, the audience monetization is not the primary goal. I don't look at, hey, what's the newest thing that I can sell my audience and make immediate returns off of? I guess if you look at monetization selling products, I have my book that's in presale right now that comes out December 6th, but guys, I make nothing from the book, just so you know. What authors make from a book is nothing, less than nothing. Well, not quite, but it's peanuts. It's nowhere near relative to the amount of work that went through on making the book. But it's impact. So I'm always motivated most by impact. If anything that I do, I'm motivated by impact. So if, you know, I may not be the exact model to follow because I have a much longer-term perspective than where most people may be at with their business. But if I was looking at monetizing a channel, monetizing the audience, I would wait to see what they what they want. I think too many people try to monetize way too soon, try to build an info product and it doesn't work out and then they think that it's the title and I went through this with someone recently and looking at their— what they were doing. Whoa, I'm under attack. People think it's the title, right? Oh, okay, it's a great product but the title was wrong and I need to I need to go back and test my headline again, or I need to test the copy, and there's always something that's wrong with it. And then you're sitting there tweaking and tweaking and tweaking and tweaking and tweaking. And really, the problem is you don't have an audience yet. People just don't want what you have yet. You don't have enough people who are following you yet, asking for help with things yet. And so you're way better off spending your time in building up your audience more And for me, it would be waiting for common questions. What are people consistently asking you that you need, that you can go and help them with? You know, if you have an audience built around, you know, whatever it is, making shoes, cooking, you know, plumbing, you know, whatever it is, you have an audience there. What are the common questions that they ask you? What are people asking, hey, can I hire you for an hour? To help me with whatever, XYZ. Can you help me for an hour? I would love to get your— let's get him, Jay! Let's get him! Okay, I'm hurting, I'm dying. I would love to get your consultation on this. I'd love to get your help, right? Then you can turn that into potential products. If people keep asking you for help with these things, then you know you have a way to monetize. And I would say honestly, until you start getting people asking you those kinds of questions, that I wouldn't be focused on monetization. I would start working on how do I build up a more loyal audience. I think people just try to monetize too soon and it doesn't work out, and then they blame the product, they blame, you know, they blame— what am I buying here? They blame how they're marketing the product, but really the product could have been fantastic. It could have been amazing. It doesn't mean the product was wrong. It just means you don't have a big enough audience yet. So work on that. That's what I got.
Yeah, and just to clarify, as I— as you were talking, Evan, I I kind of reread the question, and I definitely don't think this is a pitch. I just think it's, he's just trying to find out, you know, has this, is YouTube in general a venture where you can actually make money? And I think absolutely love, I just love Evan, your approach to it. It's like, it isn't one of these, how can I, How can I get money as fast as I can, forgoing the maybe even short-term profit for, for long-term impact? And I know that's not, it's definitely not everybody else's goals, but yeah, and YouTube in general, I think, unless you really know what you're doing, people shouldn't go into it thinking that they're going to make money right away. You really get what the whole YouTube thing is.
Yeah, you can, you can make money in any industry. You can make money in any industry. You can make money at YouTube. You can make money any— doing anything, right? Just still comes down to, are you providing value? If people are watching your stuff and they like it and they're getting a lot of value from it, then you'll be able to make money from it. Most of the YouTubers that make a lot of money don't do it off of YouTube. It's on the backs of other things. It's, it's, it's book deals and brand deals and products and other things, but it's YouTube that helped get them there. It's the audience, it's the eyeballs that help get them there. So, so if you can't make money doing it, then what? Then you're not gonna do it? Like, money is literally the worst reason to get into wanting to started the business. If you are not going to do it because you won't have success, financial success with it, then you shouldn't start with it in the first place. Go do something else that you enjoy.
Love it.
Love the game. I am I have 0 kills and 2 deaths, and Jay has 6 kills and 1 death. So Jay is our MVP, 100%. And this failed experiment is only kind of working out because Jay's playing out of his mind. That's legit. I am the boat anchor on the team. But at least I can recognize that's the situation that we're in right now. Hey man, your eyes are getting— I'm gonna block, block. There we go. Yeah, so we'll see, we'll see. Overall the game, the team has 16 deaths and 17 kills, so we're pretty close in kills, but they're getting more objectives. Yeah, they're getting more objectives than we are, so we'll see. It's not looking fantastic, I'm gonna be honest there, but whoa, I got killed again. Again. But we'll see, we'll see. We got— let's do another question. What do we got?
I'm good. Okay, going back to Rodney. Rodney says, how are you, sir? So you often hear about people sweating from training and from— I— the reason I had to stop before Evan is I had to make sense a little bit of it, but now I understand it. So, you hear of people sweating from training, musicians, artists, soccer players. As an artist, one has to sharpen their gift, so to say. But if, for entrepreneurs, where is their training ground? So, again, like you talk about the training grounds and the the sweat of the athlete or the musician or the soccer player or the artist, but where is the training ground of an entrepreneur?
Nice try. Alright.
Was that Jay in the background? Yeah, the team surrendered. I said nice try. Oh, okay. I thought he was responding to the question. Oh, no. Well, if I'm understanding the question correctly, it's kind of like where Where are you going to lift weights and get fit and all of that? Actually, Evan, you just put out a video. I don't know if you just put it out, but it talks about, talks about like having a, being fit for like what you're doing. And it looked like it was more on the level of mindset and, and, you know, the internal fortitude for sustaining your business. Is there anything that you specifically point to that helps you in your internal fortitude do what you do?
I think the training ground is just beating on your craft. I think the training ground is getting better at what, what it is that you're making. You know, the training ground for me, if you watch the video I watched the video, what was it, the 7 ways video this week on the channel, which may be the one you're talking about, Rishi, of how to have unshakable belief in yourself. The video starts—
that one too, but there was one I think that— yeah, I think that was it.
The video starts with me showing a clip of me 3 years ago of a YouTube video that I did 3 years ago. And then obviously what I'm doing now. And it's a huge difference. Not so much in terms of the message because the message is pretty similar to what I've been preaching and talking about and believe and all that stuff. But just the confidence, the delivery, the enthusiasm, the self-belief has been insanely different. And as a result, I have a bigger audience, right? I have bigger impact. More clients. And the biggest change was just I put out 3,000 videos between that day and this day, right? Like, that's my training ground, is getting on and practicing and trying to get better. Even this, this is an intentional practice in splitting my focus to see how well I can do while playing a game and answering questions at the same time. and now that the game's over, I'm much clearer and articulate. But I want to purposely make it difficult for myself as a challenge. This is my training ground to get better, to provide value, but also to get better. So making— on a weekday, we have a minimum of 5 days, 5 videos going up on the channel every day. And for most people, that's more than they do in a month. We do it every day. And on a Thursday, you know, yesterday we had 7 videos. Some Thursdays we have up to 9 videos. Every day, I'm training right now. This is my training, right? And so you need to get better at what it is that you're doing. If we keep coming back to business is about providing value, then you need to work on providing value. What's the value that you provide? How can you get better at it and improve? If you're a singer, then you gotta— you have to learn to sing better and find your style and practice and practice and practice. If you make, you know, paintings or, you know, prints or whatever, you know, you would call these things behind me, or you make hoodies and sweaters, like, how can your hoodies be different? How can you work on making it better and better and better and finding your style? Pour your creativity and love into it. That's your That's your daily training ground. And so you can see if you watch that video, you could see the change that has happened in me. And it's not an overnight change. People only see it when you look back. It's like looking back at a picture. I was looking at Hayden, so Hayden's 7, and I was looking back at a picture from 4 years ago. Wow, he was so young, he was so little, such a little creature here, this tiny human being. And you don't notice it on the day-to-day. You don't necessarily see how he grows every day. You don't notice little changes necessarily every day in your life. It can help if you're doing like the gratitude stream and just thinking about it, reflecting. But it's when you look back and say, man, Hayden has gotten a lot older because he's done 4 years of living, right? You just— we all get older, you know, you got older, I got older. And so are you putting the same— like living just happens by default, but are you now living in your business? Are you living in your business? Are you putting that same amount of hustle so that when you look back, 4 years ago, you're noticeably different than where you are now. And if you're not, then you haven't put in enough work. You haven't done the training. So I think that's the most important thing you can do. You beat on your craft and you find the thing that you want to be great at and you dedicate yourself to getting better at it to the point where it's just obvious your level of talent at what you do because you practice so much. It can apply to any business, any career.
Love it.
That's what I got. All right, well, Rishi, what is our— what's our thought of the day? How are we gonna—
I thought of the day— how are we wrapping this up? We're ending on this powerful message that just came out of what you just said. And you said, living happens by default. Pour your love into it daily. That's your training ground. Did I say that?
That sounds interesting. Okay, good.
Well, it kind of happened. It kind of happened in segments, but yeah. All right, cool.
Sounds interesting. Sounds smart, guys. It sounds smart right there. Good, cool. Well, thank you guys so much for watching. This is our last stream for the day, but there'll be other videos coming up on the channel. Hope you have an amazing Friday, and we'll see you again on Monday. Have a— is it Halloween? Monday's Halloween. Halloween edition. Halloween edition Rishi coming up on Monday. Are we doing Monday?
So we're on for sure for Monday then?
Yeah, I think so. Monday morning is fine. I'm working. It's not a holiday. I'm here.
Yeah, and just some fun times. You're going to see a special guest next week. So just a little teaser there.
I feel like I might have to come in costume on Monday. And well, Rishi can't— we can't see Rishi. I think maybe Rishi, since we can't see a costume, Maybe Rishi needs to take a photo or maybe do like an impersonation. Voice costume. Voice costume. Yeah. We're taking requests for who we want Rishi to sound like.
Oh my Lord, this is scary.
Or you could pick your own. But I feel like we need a voice costume impersonation for Rishi. Oprah and Beyoncé. So you have a couple days to prepare for this, Rishi. We're all very, very excited.
Believe Nation, I'm expecting you to give me some ideas because that's a scary thought of voice costume, but I'm gonna roll with it.
Voice costume, alright, I like it. Okay, cool. I'm pumped for Monday, guys. So that's it. Thank you for joining us. We believe in you. I hope you continue to believe in yourself and whatever your one word is. Much love, guys. We'll see you soon.
