How to Fix Your Next Trip | 22 Minutes with Insights from London

Evan Carmichael and Nina spend a day in London after their cruise, hunting for a £700–£800 pair of Christian Louboutin shoes at Harrods and a boutique. They learn the hard way to travel light when Westminster Abbey won't let them in with full luggage, then swap suitcases for backpacks at their Knightsbridge hotel.

But it's not raining. I don't see any rain. Lesson of the day: don't bring luggage.
No, no, bring luggage.
Nina has a question for you Londoners. Crazy, £700 for a pair of shoes. Anyway, we got them. What's up, Believe Nation? Happy weekend. We are getting off the boat. It's our— close to the last day of our trip. Got a couple more days in London, then we're getting home. The boat was rocking like crazy last night. Didn't sleep that well, but it's okay. No more rocking anymore because we're getting off the boat.
Yay!
We're gonna get some food and then head out. We're in Southampton, which is— what is it, 45 minutes or 90 minutes from London?
90 minutes.
90 minutes. Hop a train, get into London. Last breakfast on the cruise ship. Gotta make it count. This is round 1. Here's Nina's last breakfast. Pretty healthy, Nina. See those hash browns? And we got some coffee. Alright. Bye!
Bye!
Nina, we're off the boat. That's it. No more boat. No more crazy food. Just London food. But no more 5,000 calorie days. All right, hitting up our cab.
Wah!
We shared a cab with some fellow Canadians. Are you hiding behind me? What's happening?
No, the sun.
Oh, the sun. I'm hiding. Well, maybe Nina's a little bit shy of the sun. Well away from the edge of platform 1, the approaching train is not scheduled to stop at this station. Oh, very sad. Approaching train is not scheduled to stop. Anyway, we shared a cab with some Canadians from Toronto. Yeah. Oh, it was fun. We're going to hop a train goes back to London. We're gonna get a coffee at London. Yeah, Starbucks.
Yeah. All right.
All right, we made it to London. We are back. Nina is tired. She passed out on the train. How you feeling? You still nauseous? Yeah, just a little nauseous. Sea legs. No, too much movement on the train. Oh, you still want to get a Starbucks? I don't know. Oh really? No? Okay. No, no, we can keep going.
No, no, no, no, you got to get it.
You gotta love it. You gotta want it.
No, let's get it.
You want it? Yes. Is that firm, bold belief? Yes. All right, firm, full belief. Let's get a Starbucks. It's Lena. Lena's shoulders are hurting, so good husband takes the backpack. I got a front pack now. I got—
ah!
Ah! I got a front pack and a backpack. That's what's up. Good husbands, right?
Yes.
It was supposed to be raining this morning until about 3 o'clock and then be good for tomorrow, but it's not raining. I don't see any rain. Oh, we're going this way. So pretty exciting. Good start to the day. We can't get into Westminster Abbey because they won't let Nina bring in her luggage. Lesson of the day: don't bring luggage.
No, no, bring luggage.
Backpacks only!
No, you can't go travel with backpacks.
Next time we travel is backpack only. Look, I can even carry both of them for you.
Okay, next time I'll give you a huge backpack.
Oh wow, okay. Well, if I had a huge backpack, we could get into Westminster Abbey. All right, next step, we're going to hop on our bus and, uh, hopefully find our bus and then head to our hotel to drop off our bags and then continue with our day. Nina had to go to the bathroom urgently, so we stopped at McDonald's and decided that we would recognize them by eating here too. This brings back memories because I used to always only eat at McDonald's when I traveled, and since being with Nina, I don't think we've gone out once to McDonald's, but But here we are, McDonald's, the flashback. See what they have. So it shows you which ones are being prepared and who needs to go and collect. I'm number 67, so I'm still being prepared. All right, lunch is served. We got french fries, that's normal. We've got cheese bites, that's new, we don't have that. We've got McFlurry Flakes, which is different. Got a Coke, got a— I got a Big Mac. Nina got a Big Tasty. Wow, look at your box, it's way bigger than the Big Mac. Look at the difference. Wow, Nina's got the big burger. She wants to try something new. Classic Big Mac, I went classic. Nina, we got this giant burger. Enjoy, Nina. Okay, Nina's taking a bite of the giant burger with With bacon. She's eating it upside down. There it is. How is it? Big tasty? Is it tasty?
Mhm.
Try one of the cheese balls, cheese bites.
This is new for us.
Mozzarella?
Mhm.
Is it good? Different. Alright, you like different. Mm-hmm. You should try it. I will. Alright, time to eat. Alright, we're done with Mickey D's. How you feeling? Tired.
Sleepy.
Tired. Sleepy. Nina's crashing. We are in Knightsbridge, which is a swanky area of London. Nina has booked us a place here, so we're gonna go find where we're gonna be crashing for the next 2 nights. Drop off our stuff. Maybe Nina will nap and then continue with the day. Alright, we dropped off our stuff. Feeling better, feeling a lot lighter. That was great. It's great not having to have the suitcases carrying around, double backpacks front and back. Next stop, we have to find a shoe store. Someone that we know is asking us to buy these shoes that are only in London that cost like £700. So we're going to see if they have it and bring it back for him. Is this it? Giuseppe? No, it looks like— okay, we're going to find it. It's apparently pretty close. $700, $800.
Let's go.
$800 for a pair of shoes, I think. We'll see, we'll see if we can find it. That's crazy to me, but people need what they need. Doing our best to help. This is the store, Christian something, Christian Louboutin. All right, let's go. All right, so he sent us to the women's store. Thank you, man. That was much appreciated. And they did a search for his shoe, this $800 shoe, and they don't actually have it anywhere, they don't think. So we're gonna go to Harrods, which is a high-end department store here in London, one of the oldest department stores, maybe the oldest department store in London, and they apparently have this brand in the basement, but probably not this shoe, so we'll check it out. We'll see what happens. I hate wasting time, but we're on vacation, so it doesn't really matter. We were gonna go to Harrods anyway, and now we have a story. So the next time we see this guy, give him a hard time. Do your work, do your homework before you send us on a wild goose chase, man. Oh, Nina just— Nina!
Almost hurt my ankle.
Nina's having a bit of a clumsy day. We love you, Nina. Say— leave some positivity in the comments for Nina that she doesn't get hurt in any major way or any other minor way either. That's the end. That's the end of the hurting. Okay, watch out, there's a crack. To Herod's! We found the place, but they're totally sold out of the boot. So Nina's messaging him to try to find if he wants us to buy anything or not.
This is 2,000. We'll see.
That one's even more. Great. Listen, we have an 800-pound budget for these boots. Alright, we didn't quite get them. We got something close. Oh, you can't see. It was 700 pounds instead?
Yeah.
Crazy, 700 pounds for a pair of shoes. Anyway, we got them. We got them. So if we want the 115 pounds of packs back, we have to go to the airport. Tony, Tony, you owe Nina a massive dinner and thank you and foot massages. You want Tony foot massage? Yeah. Tony. Anyway, it's out of love, Nina. Come on, it's out of love. Helping somebody out. Help somebody out today, Believe Nation. You could feel my immense satisfaction. All right, let's look around and then get out of here.
It's windy.
Nina's gonna get blown over. She's tiny.
She's gonna get blown over. The hurricane's coming.
She's holding on to me.
Look at the hair.
My hair is all over the— my hair is a mess, guys. Holy cow. I'm going to reward myself. I'm going to celebrate myself and get a frappuccino. Nina?
Hmm?
You're going to celebrate yourself with a drink? Tea.
Tea.
Nina's celebrating herself with a tea. I'm going to get a frappuccino because we are a good team. What happened, Nina?
It's so pretty.
Are we getting it? I don't know. Uh-oh. Well, we haven't bought anything for ourselves here, so if it's so pretty, why don't you just get it?
Huh?
Just get it, Nina. Decisions, decisions. These are the tough decisions of life. Do I buy the pink Starbucks tumbler or not? Check out the whipped cream on this pumpkin spice cappuccino. Pretty good. And Nina got her chamomile tea. And we also bought that little pink tumbler for her because— What? Purple. That was pink. Okay, purple. We also bought that little cute special purple tumbler for her because Nina's cute and deserves it. Right? We need to celebrate after that. Shoe experience. Alright, we have our treats. On with the day. Cheers! Nina has a question for you Londoners.
How can they sit in traffic like this?
How can you sit in traffic like this, Londoners? We got Londoners watching this video. Leave a comment. How do you manage to sit in this traffic? Let us know. Leave it down below. That's a good one word up there. Honest Burgers. I like it. We thought we were done with the rain. It was supposed to be done.
We didn't bring the umbrellas too.
Didn't bring the umbrellas. So we're hiding out under, uh, what is this? Not behind the roof, waiting for the rain to stop. We're going to go to the supermarket, get some snacks and water. Look at Nina hustle. All right, we're buying some Doritos, some water, some peanut butter KitKat, some— what's that drink you got there? Lipton?
What is that?
Oh, it's not yours. More Doritos, one more.
What's this?
Cheddar cheese chips. We got some serious snacking to do here. All right, Nina's going to try the KitKat chocolate peanut butter. You got to take a bigger bite. I don't think you got any peanut butter there. Is it good? You don't like peanut butter. I don't like peanut butter. Oh, you got it for me? Yeah. How is it? Is it good? No peanut butter. All right, I'm going to finish it. Check it out, guys, the bus stops have USB charging stations. Pretty cool. Go London! What are you doing, Nina? Checking the temperature? Checking the rain? Is it gonna rain? What's the percent? Low percent, low rain. It's pretty cool. It's been the chip of rain. The chip of rain. The chip of grain. So next stop for us is Portobello Market, where— look at that, that's cool! You guys see, look at that, that car has pizza in it.
Yeah, it's cool.
Anyway, Portobello Market It's supposed to have lots of different people selling their stuff and it's supposed to be a vibrant area. I don't think I've ever been anytime I've come to London, so I'm excited to check it out. So Portobello Market is more of a street than an actual single store, but a lot of these places are closed. I wonder why. It's not that late. It's like 6 o'clock. Closed down early. They close at 6. Huh. Portobello Market, bit of a letdown. Well, Portobello Market down. We're gonna go to, uh, what? Dinner time! Dinner time at a famous London restaurant, traditional food. Lena loves that stuff. Let's go check it out. All right, we found it. Hereford Road. It does not look open. It kind of looks open. Can we go in? Try? No? No. Hahaha. They just opened up at 6, so we were not screwed out of our dinner. We're the first ones here at the restaurant.
Boom! Love it! How is it?
My mouth is watering. Oh my God, I want to eat that one right now. The cream looks insane. That's low-fat cream, guys. That's like only 10 calories in all that cream. It is not low fat. It is insane cream. How is it? Alright, we just finished dinner. How do you feel, Nina? It's really good. Yeah, really good food. Not crazy expensive. Uh, everything had awesome flavor to it. Wasn't really busy though. No, I was surprised. I, I got a lot of great reviews and the food was— oh, we're gonna go this way. The food was awesome and I thought, uh, we might not get a seat. We might have to wait. We're going to— we're going to do what? We're gonna walk. We're gonna walk. We're probably gonna walk back to our place. It's gonna take us maybe 45 minutes. Walk off that food. It's a little cold, but you know what? You're a little heat engine. Okay, Nina the heat engine. It's a new nickname. Nina the heat engine. N-H-E Carmichael. Okay, Nina the heat engine Carmichael. That's gonna stick. We're gonna make a t-shirt. We're gonna walk. We're gonna walk back to our place. Relax, maybe open up a bag of Doritos, watch some— we can't watch TV, but YouTube— watch some YouTube and enjoy.
Let's see.
We lost Nina to the noodle oodle. We just ate a huge meal. It's a Gordon Ramsay. What is he doing there?
He's showing you how to make it.
Ah, that's a cool show. You want to come back to Noodle Oodle? You want to go in? You want to have something? You want some noodles?
No.
No? Okay, I'm full. I had all those creamy desserts. One of the things I love about London, it always tells you where to look at the bottom of every street. Look right so you don't get hit by a bus. Super helpful. All right, it's coming up on midnight. We had a relaxing evening. I almost— no, I ate an entire bag of Doritos. I ate an entire bag of Doritos. Nina had half. We had some champagne. We watched some— I thought you were sleeping.
Hahaha.
Nina had 3/4 of a bag of Doritos. Uh, we watched some Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and that is it. Relaxing evening. Good stay in. Tomorrow we're going to wake up again. One last day in London and I'll vlog it and you guys will see it next week. Thank you for joining me again on this journey. I hope you had an amazing weekend. I believe in you. I hope you continue to believe in yourself and whatever your one word is. Much love, guys. I'll see you soon.
