How to schedule your day. So I had a great question from one of my newsletter readers, Sunil, love you guys, who wrote in to ask, hi Evan, I'm from the UK and I've been watching your videos on YouTube for a while now. I was wondering if you could help me with a burning problem question I have. I found that my schedule is quite empty due to the lack of sales in my company, but I'm getting frustrated as I would prefer to be busy in my business. I'm a strong believer in having a busy schedule/high work rate is key to success. Seeing as my day-to-day schedule is quite empty right now, I was wondering if you could help me with maybe an idea of how I can become busy with a schedule to help my business grow more efficiently. Regards, Sunil. Sunil, this is a great question and one that I honestly don't get too often. It's usually entrepreneurs are working crazy hours trying to find ways to make their business work, but one that I think people can relate to because a lot of entrepreneurs may feel like you're not doing the right tasks. Like you're just doing work that's keeping you busy, but it's not actually helping you grow. Like you're putting in 80, 100-hour weeks and you're not moving. The momentum isn't there. You're just kind of plateauing and flatlining, and you don't know what to do to become more successful. You don't know where to spend your time so it'll yield a result. So I'm gonna share with you 3 things that will be an effective use of your time to help you grow your business and fill your schedule. Number 1 is form alliances. Remember that the fastest way to grow your business is to partner with people who already have your target audience of some kind. So I don't know what you're selling, but whatever you're selling, you want to find people who are selling complementary services and products to what you have. Get to know them, meet with them, and ideally what you want them to do is connect you to their customers. And it's value-add for them too, right? Their customers are your customers as well, and they have problems, they have needs that they can't address always themselves, and they need someone like you to come in and help them. So being able to pass on a high-quality referral to a customer is value-add. You need to go in there and make your alliance partner look good. So what I want you to do is make a list of 10 different types of businesses that are complementary to yours, right? And then go and start researching 10 companies in each of those fields and start setting up meetings and say, here's what I do, here's what I'm all about, I'd love to have a coffee with you to introduce ourselves and see if there's a way we might be able to work together. And your next couple months, should be packed with meetings that you're using to set up alliance partnerships. Number 2 is get in the media. Another way to get great exposure to start getting customers coming in the door is get in the media. So make a list of all the different media types who are, one, covering your local area, so whatever local market you're serving, your city, your local area, and then also national media and even international media that are more targeted towards your industry domain. So whatever the biggest publication is, the biggest media for your industry, target those people, and then also target your local media for whatever geographic area you're in right now. What you want to be seen as is an expert, right? Whenever there's a problem related to whatever you help people with, you want to be quoted as that expert. You look at any news story that comes out, there's always an expert that's quoted, right? There's a story, here's what happened, and then they have this expert come on and explain why it happened and what their thoughts are. That should be you. That should be all of you. As entrepreneurs, you should be experts at what you do. And by being that resource for reporters, you're making their job easier, right? They're out looking for people like you to comment on, on the stories that they're working on. And by being that resource to them, it saves them time. You can even suggest stories to them as you build up a relationship. And what you'll find is if you become a great resource for one reporter, that gets noticed and you get picked up by other magazines, other newspapers, other blogs, other YouTube channels, and you get asked to come back and do a lot more. And building up your profile helps your business grow because people want to work with people who they think are experts in their field. And number 3 is model success. No matter how busy I get, I always try to make time to model success. And, and what I mean by that is find famous entrepreneurs that I look up to that I love their stories, that I'm curious to learn more about them, and look at what made them successful. If it's a YouTube video that I'm watching or a biography that I'm reading or an article in a magazine or blog that I'm checking out, learning from the successes and failures of those who have come before you help motivate you, help keep you passionate and excited because you know they had to go through all these failures and down periods and times when they didn't have momentum and they still made it. So it motivates you to keep going, and it also gives you ideas and strategies on how you can take your company from just an idea into something successful. So look at companies who are inside your industry who have built up to become mega companies, and also just people who, who you like, who you look up to, who you respect. You know, if you love Oprah Winfrey or you love Richard Branson or you love Steve Jobs, or whoever it is that you love, research their story. Learn how they got started. Learn how they went from idea to building their first million dollars through their company. That motivates you and inspires you because it makes you realize that you're not alone on this journey, because entrepreneurship can be a really lonely game. So in summary, how to schedule your time for optimal success: number 1, form alliances; number 2, get in the media; And number 3, model success and believe.
