—is where I'm recording— Oh, did I just zoom in? Look at that. Wow. Wow. Run! Run! Don't die, Nina! I love you! He actually did have a huge ego before. I knew it! I knew it! That was a terrible story. I'm very upset and I apologize to you guys. What's up everyone? Happy weekend! So once a quarter I do a thing where I pay for all of my TDS team, its instructors and helpers. How many people are coming tonight? 22. 22. I'm paying for 22 people to go to a salsa cruise. So we're gonna go to Lake Ontario and we're gonna go dancing. And I was told to dress to impress, so of course I'm rocking the gear. Nina's in a dress, white dress with her new purple hair. Have you guys checked that out?
I showed it to them.
I mentioned about my purple hair on my cooking video.
Oh, the cooking video. Okay, that was Nina's first solo video. Anyway, we're gonna hop in the car, drive downtown, get on the boat, meet our Toronto Dance Salsa friends, and have a night of dancing. We made it, kind of. Where are we going? This way, south. We're heading to find our boat and Alex and the team. So down this street is where I'm doing my audiobook. This is really in the middle of nowhere. We're actually— oh, can you see CN Tower? Look at that CN Tower behind us, huh? Look at that! It's really in the middle of nowhere and super random that where I'm filming my audiobook is like a block away from where we're going on the boat. So I'll be back here on Monday filming more audiobook for you guys. Who's this? Hey! We parked on this street. See you there! That's Kat and Felipe, our kizomba instructors and salsa instructors in training. So let's cross. There's a beautiful lady here. There's a beautiful lady right here who I'm determined not to turn into roadkill. Ready? Ready? Run! Run! Don't die, Nina! I love you! Oh, look at the city behind. Look at that. Huh? Yeah, Toronto. Toronto, Ant City stepping up. Okay, let's turn this off and find where we're going. I'm warming up. I'm warming up.
There's a lot of wiggling happening there.
There we go. Alex. Story time with Alex.
I upgrade my phone every 2 years. So before this, I had a Note 4. So I waited past the Note 5. It was a Note 6, but they called it a Note 7. Anyways, I waited for this phone for 2 years. Then I had a whole, like, life-changing experience about not being attached to, like, not important things like phones and stuff like that. Nina's on her phone, of course. Because I know the story. I go into Rogers store and I'm like, hey, you know what, here's a free phone with 2-year contract instead of paying $600 for the Note 7 when it came out. I'm like, I'm gonna compromise and get the phone. So I go and I get the phone, but I find out that it doesn't have an SD card. It's like 32GB, that's all I have. And for Snapchat and all this stuff, the phone is not gonna be enough. So I run back into the store after I signed the contract, I open the phone, I'm like, I beg them on my knees almost, I'm like, please let me return this phone. So finally get to return the phone, and I get sucked in and I end up getting the Note 7, which was depressing for me because I was like trying to let go of being attached to like not important things. And it's like $600 too. How's that working out? It's not working out great. And the phone is getting recalled. The phone that I waited a year for, that I tried to give up once. The exploding phone. The exploding phone. Funnily enough, I dropped that phone. I've never dropped a phone in my life. Like, I've dropped it but I've never cracked it. 4 days ago, I dropped the phone while I was at a wedding and it fell and it cracked. The screen cracked. And I'm like, oh my God, thank God I can return it still, right? Because it's a recall, they should be able to accept it. So I go into the Rogers store and I'm like, hey guys, I want to return this phone, I want to get another phone. And like, we can't take this back, the phone is cracked. And I'm like, my face goes I was pale because I'm like, my fiancée is gonna kill me, first of all, because it's like we just spent $600 on this phone, ridiculous thing that I can't return. You know what? They gave me a great idea. They said, listen, call Rogers, talk to them, explain to them the situation. If they can okay it, we're happy to help you. And these are the guys that helped me previously switch phones, so I had a really good rapport with them, really cool guys. They're right next to Empress Walk. So I called Rogers, I'm like, listen, I explained the situation, I feel so bad, I was looking forward to this phone. And not a question, nothing, like no problem, we'll make the notes, boom boom boom. So in a week's time I'm gonna go return my phone And I'm getting a Google Pixel XL phone, which I'm gonna get for free.
Just get a OnePlus 3.
No, OnePlus 3A. It's better than whatever you got.
It's better than your Note 7, okay?
No, no, no, it is so— Okay, cut.
Okay, make sure—
Okay, wait, hold on. What's the lesson from this story? I filmed for 3 minutes, it better be an awesome lesson at the end of this.
Focus on important things and not things like phones and get obsessed about it, because once you have it, you're not gonna really care about it.
That was a terrible story. I'm very upset and I apologize to you guys. Everyone's a critic. We love you, Alex, but come on, man. Alright, here we go. It's Ahmad and Lily eating hamburgers. Yeah. Look, look, very fancy. Look at this. Ahmad is very fancy. What's your message to the world, Faye?
Oh, my message?
Keep on dancing. Keep on dan— that's a good one. Keep on dancing. Okay, we're gonna do Story Time with Alex. Number 2. Wow. Wow! Storytime with Alex number 2. We'll see if this one is better, and I hope you guys can hear it.
I was performing with the Caliente performance team, teacher team, on Sunday at the Canada Salsa Congress. And I was social dancing Friday night. And so this woman approached me and asked me to dance, and I'm like, "Yes, I'd love to dance with you." Perfect. So we're dancing, laughing, having a great time. We're walking off the dance floor, and she's like, "Thank you, Alex." And I'm like, "Alex?" In my mind, I didn't introduce myself, right? Maybe she's a student of mine. I'm like, "Okay, cool." I'm like, "How do we know each other? I'm sorry." And she's like, "I know you from online, from YouTube." Wow!
From TDS YouTube or my YouTube?
TDS. From TDS YouTube? Wow, that's awesome. Yeah, yeah, she's like, "I saw you in your video." Wow. I felt so honored, like that felt so amazing. I want more of that. I want to make a bigger impact. I want more people to see me and change their lives through that.
Make better videos! We decided to come outside to get some air and look at the view now. Toronto. Toronto and city home of the Blue Jays. They play right there. I'm invading a personal conversation between Lily, Alex, and Felipe about confidence.
We're talking about confidence.
Confidence with a man is like how low he wears his shirt. Oh, hello. So this is kind of confident. This is very confident. Okay, good. It's a family channel, Felipe. Family channel. Where's your confidence, Alex? I was raised differently. What's Ahmad doing? What's Ahmad doing? What's the female equivalent?
Confidence is like wearing everything and still having confidence.
Wearing what? Wearing everything, covering everything and still being confident. Covering everything is confidence.
So we're actually talking about how we met Felipe, like how that happened. Apparently you first met me at an Uptown Loft. I was performing with Assault of Sensuality. It was a bachata routine and he was watching me. So I'm known for my eyebrows being raised when I'm performing. So I tend to dance like this. And he saw my eyebrows raised and he thought I was very arrogant and overly confident in myself. He said that I had a huge ego. It's a pity that's changed of me just a little bit.
He actually did have a huge ego before. I knew it! I knew it! Alright, Alex wants to do a group picture. I think.
I was told, get everybody here. So I did my job. They're coming, they're still coming.
Is this everybody? I see 5 people. Oh! Oh! TDS team. That's it, that's my crew.
We have a special announcement, we have a helper of the semester.
This person crushed it as a helper during the summer 2016. Has so much positive feedback. Everyone loves this guy.
Oh, speech, speech! I'm blown away. I can't believe, uh, you guys are doing this. Wow, wow. No, it's, uh, I love TDS so much.
Uh, honestly, this, uh, place, this community, family, it's just, uh, it's really amazing. I love being a part of it and I love giving back whenever I can. So I'm going to I'm gonna cry.
That's all I can say. Yeah! Alright, we're back on dry land. 1-something in the morning. We had some dances, we had some fun. I'm gonna find Alex for a final message. Final message!
Final message, whatever you do, make sure you spend it with your loved ones, with your family, with your friends. Because it's all about the experience and not what you do. Bye Evan!
Final message! Bye camera! What's the final message? Rosanna's final message. You can do it. Lily and Faye's final message is: Live downtown because then you can walk home. Oh, so sad. So moving to the country. Doesn't matter where you live, home is where your family is. Oh, there you go. We're tired. It's time to go home. We're gonna get in the car. Have an amazing rest of the weekend, guys. Thank you for joining us on our fun excursion today. Hope you had a great weekend too. Continue to believe, or whatever your one word is, and we'll see you soon.
