Evan Carmichael says successful people aren't smarter, they just start. Lower your expectations deliberately, like committing to five push-ups instead of a full workout. Embracing being bad at first kills the fear that stops most people from beginning.
We all have these ideas. I want to start a podcast. I want to be a speaker. I want to be a whatever. We all have these great ideas, but the successful people, they're not smarter than you. Often they're probably stupider than you. They just start. They're just like, okay, I'm going to start. It's going to suck. Even lowering the expectations just so that you can go off and do it. Lowering the expectations of what you're going to get at the gym and just go and do 5 push-ups. People aren't willing to suck at the beginning.
