How to deal with a crappy upline. Today's video comes as a response to a question from one of my YouTube viewers— love you guys— Stella Lorejo, who writes in to say, hi Evan, I'm from the Philippines. I'm a network marketer and biggest company in the Philippines. I have an upline who doesn't support me in what I plan to do, and it's hard for me to work with her. If I go to my group and ask this, I don't feel comfortable to see her. I don't know what to do. I want to continue in my network, but I feel so bad with my upline. What can I I do. It's been a while since I answered a network marketing question, so I'm excited for the chance to do it again. This sucks, you know, it sucks to work with somebody above you, and it could be network marketing, or it could be if you have a typical job and you have a boss that you don't like. It sucks to work with somebody who doesn't support what you're doing. You know, it's hard enough for you to be out there pushing, grinding, trying to tap into your passion, create something amazing. It's hard enough to do on a day-to-day basis, But when the person ahead of you, the person who's supposed to be helping you, isn't and is discouraging and doesn't believe in what you're trying to do, it just makes it that much harder. So I feel for you. I have 3 suggestions that I think might help you. The first is find a resolution. Try to find some common ground. You know, if you're reaching out to this person, say, "Hey, you know what? My goal is to make—" whatever it is. "I wanna make $10,000 a month selling this program. I think I can do it. I'm working hard. I have the passion. I have these ideas. I need you to help me." And if you come from a place where you're both trying to accomplish the same goal, it makes it easier to get on the same page. At least to the point where they're not discouraging you and telling you that you're not gonna be able to make it, right? If they see that you're working hard, if they see that you're putting the passion in, you're putting the hours in, and their other downline members are sucking, right, and you're starting to hit some goals, then they're gonna wanna build you up, right? So try to find that common ground and find a common resolution to start with. If you have a goal, whatever your monthly goal is, I would sit down and try to explain, "My goal is to make this amount of money every month, and I need your help to get there." Number 2 is educate and train yourself. One of the biggest things that will impact your success is taking responsibility for who you are, taking responsibility for your dream. For you to reach your dream, for you to accomplish your goals, it's on you. Nobody's here to hold your hand, and you gotta recognize that and start educating and training yourself. Who cares if you have an upline that doesn't support you? This is on you. Your dream— this is your dream to make happen. You have to go make that happen. You have to find another way, and there's lots of other ways to make that happen. Remember, your upline can only teach you what got them to that point, right? Your upline is only a little bit further ahead than you. Where you want to be up here, right? You should be. And so your upline can't take you there. And you need to educate yourself on how to get there. And I would be scheduling calls and meetings to meet with people who are at the very top, who are top earners, and going to the conferences and watching the videos and learning from other network marketing companies, learning from other successful entrepreneurs. You should be a fountain of absorbing all this knowledge, right? You want to be a sponge. You want to absorb all of that and be constantly looking to educate and train yourself and Do not put responsibility on anybody else. This goes for any entrepreneur. You have a dream, it's your responsibility to go out and do it and not blame anybody else. It's not your parents' fault, it's not your friends' fault, it's not that investor who said no, it's not the country that you live in, it's not if you're overweight, or it's not if you're, you know, a certain race or man or woman. Doesn't matter. None of that matters. It's on you to take responsibility for your dreams and make them happen. So if your upline doesn't support you, go and educate and train yourself. Number 3 is find a new company. Hey, if this really is impacting you to the point where you can't work with this person and it's bringing you down and the sight of them terrifies you and just drains your energy from this company, go find another company. There's lots of companies, or start your own business. There's always options. And that may be the last option for you. You know, you've tried to work it out You've educated yourself and trained yourself and you're getting better, but you feel like, you know, you don't want to be in an environment where people are just beating down on you all day, and that's understandable. And if it's at that point, then go out and find a new company or start one on your own. So remember, if you're having problems with a crappy upline, number 1, try to find a resolution. Number 2, educate and train yourself. And number 3, find a new company. Believe. For those of you watching and like the video, you can subscribe to the channel to see more just like this.
