YOU'RE INVITED: Carmen's 19-Minute Team Adventure

You ready, Hayden?
Yeah!
Hayden's ready. Timo's ready. Let's go. Here we go!
Woo!
My people! No, no, no.
What's up, Believe Nation? Happy weekend! We are vlogging this weekend. We got Hayden here. We got Nina and Timo here. And today I'm taking my Toronto Dance Elsa team to go snow tubing. And we're taking you guys on a journey with us. So once a quarter, we try to do something with the team, just something fun, something not, you know, TDS-related, family bonding time. And today we decided that we're going to take everybody snow tubing. So we've got, I don't know, 20 people or so. Coming. But before that, we have to go do our dance practice. So get some coffee, get some food, practice some dancing. We're waiting for TDS elevator. Nina is carrying her jacket and Teemo. Hayden is carrying a big huge bucket of activities to do during dance class. And I'm carrying—
Nothing!
The hearts and minds of a nation. I don't think they're buying it. So one thing I didn't mention was I do the group— we have the Saturday morning practice because I wanted my instructors to have an opportunity to get better. So they do a lot of teaching and they do a lot of— well, they do a lot of teaching during the week and we wanted a way for them to get better as dancers. And so I hired Elton and Maureen, our awesome choreographers to come in and give the instructors something to work on. So we have our Saturday morning practice every week to work on a performance, work on competition, and allow the instructors to get better as dancers, not just as instructors as well. So that's what we do every week, professional development for the team, constant learning and growing. And then every quarter we do something fun like snow tubing. You ready, Hayden?
Yeah!
Hayden's ready. Timo's ready. Let's go. Timo's getting his last walk. We like bringing him to TDS, but he's not allowed to come snow tubing. So he gets his last walk before we go. Come on, Timo. Do your business. Do your business, Timo. He's not doing the business. Nina's not happy. There it is. That top, that's the hill. There's the hill. We're gonna go down that. I'm excited. We made it. Winter geared up. Ready to hit the slopes. Nina looking sexy as ever.
Hayden.
Hayden, rocking the blue. Let's get on the hill. Let's go find the team. We got our team. What's up? We got the team. Where's everybody else? Fernando, Mr. Bachata. He's gonna have a good time, aka the troublemaker. Hey buddy, good. This is Andrew. You might remember him from the Little Man video. Oh yeah, yeah. Although I think we've Blank out your face.
What?
Alex is working hard. Rastafelix with the rock and the hat. Oh, now he's putting it down. Now he's going GaryVee style, putting it down. But it's still Rastafelix. Nina's organizing. Here's the crew. Led by the troublemaker. Let's see some moves. Let's see it. Snow pain bachata. Snow chata.
Hi.
Wow. What do you think, Alex?
I think I'm gonna probably faceplant myself in the snow.
Thank you. All right.
Just face red.
Yeah. Show us how it's done, Alex. Show us how it's done. Yeah, bud.
You do like this.
You do like this.
So which side faces up?
Like that. Like this.
Bam! Just like that.
First time!
First time's a charm.
Look at that.
Good job, Alex.
Thank you.
You don't want to wear your gloves?
It's so warm.
Too warm?
I'm literally sweating.
You're sweating? Well, wait till we get on the hill. You get some speed getting picked up here. Team TDS. Let's hit some slopes.
Alright guys. I want an agreement. Because you're outside of TDS, you're not insured by TDS.
Safety.
Safety first.
Safety first. Alex will not be sued for this.
I will not be paying your bills.
Let's see. Let's go. Let's go red. Alex is wearing jeans and there's a ton of water in his snowsuit. This is awesome. I am excited. You're scared. You'll be fine. You've done this.
Yeah, but not in a small one.
It's okay. You'll be fine. You got this. Evan Carmichael. It's more scary going up than down?
Yeah.
Alright, well then it'll be easy going down. Alex is Snapchatting. Follow Alex on Snapchat.
Hey guys, we are going to be snow tubing for the first time. I'm excited. Got Jarek right in the back.
Woo!
It's gonna be legendary.
There goes TDS team number 1. See, where'd they go? There they go. There they go. Alright, mister. What do you think? You ready to go? You scared? Yeah. We're gonna do okay though?
No.
Nah, we got this. We got this. Let's go.
Let's hope we live.
Let's hope we live? Uh-oh.
There goes Alex. Have fun, Alex. Don't die.
Here we go. Here we go.
Woo! Yeah! We're going fast! Oh, it's popping! Go, go, go, go! Hahaha! No funny business!
That was awesome!
Woohoo! Totally worth it!
Totally worth it! Haha! High five, mister! Boom! Good job! Alright, let's do it again! That was a ton of fun. We got some good speed.
Awesome.
Tayden wants to go again?
Yeah!
Let's do it again! Alright, time for round 2. Let's do it! Alright, Nina's coming with us this time. Oh, I got Nina's feet in my face here. Okay, enjoy that foot, Nina. Don't rip off my shoe, Nina. Is Nina a screamer? Nina's a screamer.
Oh, set!
Why am I going backwards? Yeah! Hayden is making Nina work. Nina, you want to pull me too? Come on, Nina, you're strong. You need to balance out the muscle on the left side. All right, back in line. Round 3. What are we doing this time, Nina?
Time to do 4 people.
4 people.
It's going up every time. 2, 3, 4. Next it's gonna have to be 5.
Okay, you're in charge of recruiting our team, Aiden. Okay, you have to convince people to join our team.
Well, I can try.
You're in charge of recruitment. Alright, time for round 3 with 4 people. Let's go! That's round 3, third time down. 4 of us this time.
Woo! Hey, I'm not going backwards! Yes!
I mean, she's going backwards.
Yay! Yeah!
Go, Nina!
Here we go!
That was the best. That was the first time I didn't get to go backwards, and I loved it. Aiden wanted to increase the number every time we went, so now he's got to find a 5th person.
After 5, it goes 1.
Oh, we're going solo?
We skipped 1. Okay. We did 2, 3, 4, and now 5.
We can go solo after. But you gotta find somebody, recruit somebody onto the team.
I can try.
Alright, I like it. What do you think, Nina? This is very Honda. Nina's happy. Thank you, Nina, for setting this up. Nina organized all of this, got 20 people to show up, found the place, dealt with all the maybes and the I don't knows and the follow-up and the directions, and here we are. Thank you, Nina, we love you. Wake Surf Crew. And Hayden is— wait, am I pulling you? I don't know about that. I don't know that I signed up for that. Why is my tube so heavy now? Oh man, I don't— pretty sure I did not sign up for this. Maybe I'll sit in yours and then Nina can pull me.
No.
And then I can pull you.
Skeptical?
What do you think? Just set up a train, Nina, huh?
I see you pulling me.
Oh, I don't know about that. Alright, we got our 5th person. Mahid. We're doing 5. We're going 5. Let's see how far we go. And there we go!
Woo!
You want to go by yourself? Alright. You can ask for a little spin. Or you can ask for a lot of spin. You're easy to spin because you're so light. Okay, round 5. Not sure what we're doing.
Solo, couples.
We'll figure it out. Hayden's going Going solo, doing a spin. It's gonna be exciting. Get ready, Hayden. Little spin, little spin, little spin. You're gonna scream? Maybe. Hold on to your hat, looks like it's gonna fall off. All right, have fun. All right, one more round, maybe our last one. We'll see. We're running short on time, so we're gonna have some fun while we can. Hayden did the last two runs solo. You okay? You have fun? I saw you spin on that last one. I like it.
We're gonna take a group picture and then go get some food.
Jörg is leaving us though after the picture. He's got a hot date. Yeah, he's got a hot date, so he's leaving us. But otherwise everybody else is sticking around. Was this Fernando's idea? Something tells me this is Fernando's idea. Oh, it's Alex's idea.
Yeah.
All right, team, team TDS.
There it is.
Look at that, that's the view right there. That's what I'm talking about. Fernando! Run, Alex, run! Now Nina has the amazing job of finding food that 20 people are going to enjoy eating.
18 cheeseburgers. And then 10 large fries for them to share.
10 large fries and 18 cheeseburgers? Yeah. Is that what we're doing?
Yeah. Okay.
Let's see how long it takes them to make it. Alex is making it rain french fries. The TDS table's all quiet now. Burgers and fries abound. Good job, Nina, feeding the team. Alex is making ketchup cups.
I feel like I'm a chef.
Chicken tonight, like chicken tonight. You feel like you're a chef because this is what a chef does?
Well, like, like when they're baking stuff, right?
Because you're baking right now.
You know the thing with the, with the thing, the thing with the thing?
Yeah, I think you're baking too.
Frosting, how you do the frosting.
I think this qualifies as baking. Payton has his burger done. Look at that. Every time we do one of these helper outings, Alex does a speech, so I'm gonna film it.
Pressure on Alex.
Come on, Alex, give us the speech.
I think it's time for Alex's speech.
I think it's time. It's very exciting.
One second.
We're all very excited. What's it gonna do? What's it gonna do? How are we gonna be moved and remember this day forever based off of the speech that's about to come from this man?
You can see my eyes, the amount of confidence and panic and passion I have.
All right, here it comes.
Beautiful.
We believe in you, Alex. We believe in you.
Hashtag believe. Oh, hashtag believe.
There you go. Oh, there you go.
Hey, my people.
No, no, no, listen, you know what? I just want to say, I want to say how grateful I am that everyone made it here and all the people that, you know, that couldn't make it. I don't know all the other other helpers. They're gonna be missed, but we're gonna have a lot of socials coming our way. I think that the biggest thing in the last year or two since I've joined that I've seen is not only like the variety of new people that are coming through and the differences and the passions that they're bringing in, but more importantly, it's how TDS is changing. Even the smallest things, even things like name tags or whatever. What makes, I think, our school different is that We're not always happy just having things the same way that it's always been done. Even today, right, having people bring in their family, right, that's never been done. But like, what does family mean? And what I'm really excited is to have everyone continue to stay with us as we really define more what family means as a culture and bring that out in all the classes and bring out in all the fun. Like all the things I'm seeing Fernando do that I'm picking up, the selfies and and stuff and like growing together and teaching each other and all the funness of that. Yeah, of course, of course, of course. In our school, we're more encouragers than we are critics, and I think that that's what makes everyone who has no confidence, low self-esteem, just from zero, we make them into heroes. And I think that as long as we do that and however we evolve, we're more encouragers and critics. I, I think that everyone's going to feel like they're part of the family. And so I just want to say how grateful I am to you, as myself at least, as I'm learning to navigate all this and try to make it better for all of you guys and try to make it more fun. I love the fact that we're coming together, we're eating together, and we're continuing to do that. So as we develop our family, and it's going to be more in a year, more in 2 years, let's continue to meet for meals and just share that love. And be more to encouragement.
The toast!
Cheers! Love you guys!
Shot!
Shot! Shot! Shot!
Alright, the sun is setting. We had our awesome meal. We had a good time. Thank you for joining us on this. Hopefully you had some fun watching too, and I think it's important that you invest back into your team. We started this morning doing doing the professional development stuff, learning how to dance. Nina just wants to get in. And then tonight, just recognizing the team and doing some fun stuff just to say thank you. And thank you to this lady, Nina Carmichael, for organizing everything. Thank you. Bass wants to say hi too. Organizing everything, following up with everybody, making sure we all got our passes all got our food, all had a good time because this woman here works so hard. One of the many reasons why I love her. If you love Nina, leave a comment below too. Thank you guys for watching. Hopefully you have an amazing weekend.
Continue to believe and whatever your one word is. Much love.
Bye.
We'll see you soon.
See you guys.
