How to Run a Marathon PR?

Floris Gierman built a 25-video marathon course covering running, heart-rate training, nutrition, mindset, and race strategy. He cut his Boston Marathon time from 4:11 to 2:44 using these methods. The course includes personalized schedules for four goal times, from finishing to sub-3-hour.

I'm excited to share a really big video project I've been working on for the past 2 years. I'm launching a video course about marathon running with 5 hours of new video footage. That's 25 new videos that I haven't released yet. Many runners out there are dreaming of running a sub-3-hour marathon, a Boston qualifier, a sub-4-hour marathon, or a marathon PR. I have noticed that many athletes don't know how to structure their training in a way that works for their specific life circumstances. So far, I've improved from a 4:11 marathon down to a 2:44 at the Boston Marathon by training smarter and racing with a clear strategy. For the past 6 years, I've written about running and made videos about it with a million-plus views on my channels so far. It's definitely tricky to stay motivated sometimes. I just break the race up in small chunks. Your chances to succeed are definitely increasing. I'm often asked if I can coach runners one-on-one to reach their specific marathon goals. Instead of offering one-on-one coaching, I developed this video course that has much more value and info than I could offer in a one-on-one coaching session. It has literally taken me 2 years to develop this entire video course. This is a holistic approach to marathon training and racing, so running smarter, not harder. This is focused on 5 different elements: running, so improving aerobically, but also limiting the stress, nutrition, having the correct mindset, and the correct race day strategy. So running is only one of the components we'll be looking at here. In these 25 videos, we'll cover the following: training fundamentals, heart rate training, a deep dive, developing your training schedule— there's absolutely no one-size-fits-all for athletes— training your mind. Training and racing is such a mental game. We'll dive deep into the challenges, potential frustrations with heart rate training, motivation, stress, and much more. Nutrition for training and racing. You are what you eat. We will be visiting the grocery store and I'll be showing you exactly what I eat and why. Marathon racing strategies. We'll discuss this from A to Z and I truly believe that every training schedule should be personalized based on several factors. A few of them are your specific race goals, your fitness background, your available time to train, your health profile, and your life circumstances, to name a few. I will be providing the tools and templates for training schedules for 4 specific goals: your goal to finish a marathon, a sub-4-hour marathon goal, a 3:30 marathon goal, or a sub-3-hour marathon goal. I'll be providing workout details for the different stages of training and different fitness levels. Also, we are creating a new private Facebook community for this course. There's a ton of value in sharing experiences with serious athletes working with the same tools available. I often hear of runners who have been stuck in their training without any progress. Many of them often experience injuries that set them back in their training. Some others might have heard of low heart rate training and have dabbled around with it, but they might not necessarily know how to integrate this the right way in their training for a specific race. I've already created a lot of content online over the years, and it truly makes me happy to see all of the positive feedback. For those looking for additional frameworks and strategies, I'm truly convinced that this video course provides the tools and resources that can help increase your chances to reach your specific marathon goals. More information about the course is available at extramiless.com/marathon. I hope to see you there. And don't worry, I'll continue to post more videos and podcasts in the coming months and years. We're just getting started.
