Members Of The Personal Best Program | Running Coaching by Floris Gierman, MAF Training 2023

Runners in Floris Gierman's Personal Best program share how MAF training fixed injuries and overtraining. One dropped from 6:30 to 5:30 min/km pace. Another hit a 2:45 marathon. They credit the program's flexibility, nutrition focus, and community support on Strava and coaching calls.

Trained myself into the ground and ended up walking off the course at like mile 13. Kept getting injured and was frustrated because I wanted to be out running but couldn't. And I could see that I was the archetypal guy that's been sat in a chair, in an office chair, or sat in the car for 40 years.
And at some point when you start crawling from pointer to pointer, you get lost.
Whenever you're getting into MAF approach, there's— it's so wide open that there's not much structure to the approach. I was skeptical at first. I was like, okay, so I'm I was not sure what I'm gonna go, I'm gonna discover.
I jumped in right away because although, like I said, I wasn't really sure if I wanted to run a marathon, the way you've set it up is like a lifetime membership. It was like, well, why would I wait?
What was really helpful for me is the way it put it all together. It wasn't just about running and about training, but about the psychology aspect of it, about the nutrition aspect. And a lot of that really struck me as very solid advice.
You can make it appropriate to you. So I think it's applicable to a huge, huge range of athletes. We're all very encouraging of each other and supportive, and I think that goes a long way.
You have a bunch of people who are very supportive. I sleep well and enjoy running.
There's virtually no wear and tear on my body.
I've gone from, I don't know, 6:30 down to 5:30, just like that. One of the things I really liked is the flexibility of the program and how Flores really explains, you know, how you can make adjustments and adapt to sort of the real world.
The videos are so informative. I did— I've never seen any program that, you know, talks you through the entire cycle of your training and how you have to handle with a certain situation.
Definitely as a 50-year-old mom that works full-time and is trying to improve my fitness level. You've helped me tremendously. Aiming for a 2:45 like myself, I am benefiting a lot from, from, from this program.
By following through with it, there may be times when life happens where you may not be able to, but the course is designed itself for anything that can happen, will happen, but you can still manage a way around it to where you can still build yourself up.
I love the video on the food because I was really interested, and I'm like, well, all right, what does he eat? You know, you know, because I want to eat the same thing. Being able to troubleshoot the approach not only with Forrest but with so many people in the PR program community, whether that's through Strava or Facebook or the coaching calls. The feeling is incredible. I'm not able to explain that, you know.
2:58:03. Yeah, that was a lifetime achievement for me. This is a time when I expect to be slowing down and not getting these times, and it feels great to be speeding up.
So I can put a smile on my face. I can go out and run.
It was basically a game changer for me.
I'm enjoying running more than I have in my whole life.
