A breakthrough in running and in life goes far beyond the finish time or the goal you're hoping to accomplish. For me, the breakthrough here is really to live more and more from a place of truth, from authenticity and vulnerability. It's about not forcing things, but by being real, going with the flow of life and being gentle and kind to self. I've been gentle in the coaching of other athletes, yet sometimes I can be my own harshest critic. And that's what I would tell you too: stop being be so hard on yourself. To reach your full potential and to experience breakthroughs in running and life, I would say let go of the outcome, stop forcing it, and focus on the things that you can control. Surrender and follow where the energy flows. Put in the effort, work hard, but also be flexible and gentle. Kindness to self, patience, consistency, and joy are all important ingredients.
