Nicole Johnsey Burke recommends planting perennial culinary herbs like sage, rosemary, and thyme to repel pests and boost vegetable growth. Sage pairs with carrots and brassicas, rosemary with tomatoes and peppers, thyme with strawberries and potatoes. They come back year after year.

If your garden was my garden, here's exactly what I do. Hi, I'm Nicole Burke, and I've been a garden consultant for 10 years. And if there's one thing I could do in your garden to make everything else so much easier, this is it. I would plant a lot more herbs like this sage. I planted this three years ago. I harvest from it every single week, and it repels pests like aphids, whiteflies, and cabbage worms. So I plant it near carrots, cabbages, greens, broccoli, and cauliflower. And this rosemary. Same thing. The plant is years old. I harvest from it almost every week, and it repels things like white flies and aphids. So I plant it near tomatoes and peppers. And this thyme. Also been harvesting from this one for years, too. Thyme repels pests like slugs and cut worms. So I plant it near strawberries, potatoes, and my favorite, Swiss chard. So if your garden was my garden, I just add a lot more herbs. I made an entire course on growing herbs in the garden, and I'd love to give it to you for free. You can find out how to get it in the caption.
