Nicole Johnsey Burke recommends ditching Roundup for 30% horticultural vinegar mixed with Castile soap to kill weeds. The vinegar is six times stronger than household vinegar, kills any plant it touches, and works best on stubborn weeds like Bermuda grass in pathways. Never spray on windy days or near kids and pets.

Can everyone stop using Roundup and use this instead? Let's not be dramatic. Weeds are really not that big of a deal, but if you've got to get rid of them, please don't use Roundup. Use this 30% vinegar. This is 6 times more powerful than the vinegar you get from the grocery store. This one you can get from the hardware store, and you want to mix it with a little bit of Castile soap like this one. You've got a weed that you just can't deal with, you want to spray directly onto the weed. Do not broadcast spray, and do not spray on a windy day. This stuff will kill any plant that it comes in contact with. It can also burn the paws of your pets, maybe cause some problems for your kids, and harm some insects. You want to be sure you're only using it if you really have to, in a case where you've got Bermuda grass or crabgrass or something like that growing into your pathways. So when you see a weed, either let it be, pull it up by hand, or use this. But let's agree to never ever ever use Roundup again.
