Gary Brecka argues that constant comfort accelerates aging. When your body isn't challenged by heat, cold, hunger, or physical strain, your bones weaken, muscles atrophy, and immune system deteriorates. He says mild discomfort is essential for staying strong and aging slower.

Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort. The more aggressively we pursue comfort, the faster we age. We have got to stop telling Grandma not to go outside, it's too hot, not to go outside, it's too cold, just to lay down, just to relax and rest. Eat at the very first pang of hunger. It's okay to be hungry, it's okay to be cold, it's okay to be hot. So when we stop challenging our body, it weakens. If you don't load a bone, It doesn't strengthen. If you don't actually tear a muscle, it won't grow. And if you don't challenge the immune system, it weakens.
