I was still not taking care of myself from a baseline level. So even though I got so into weightlifting and athletics and quote unquote aesthetic health, I had strep throat 22 times within 4 years while I was in college. Wow. So I was pretty much going to the doctor or the urgent care once every 2 months, getting diagnosed with strep, getting antibiotics, getting a shot of steroids, and then being sent on my way only to come back 2 months later and nobody ask about my sleep, my caffeine intake, what I was eating on a daily basis, how close to bedtime am I eating, how many days a week am I training? I was training 7 days a week, but I looked good in the mirror and And so I just assumed like, if I look good in the mirror, then this all has to be happening to me, not because of me or something that I'm doing. And so I think a lot of people relate aesthetic health to metabolic health. And I've come to realize that the mirror is a really poor judge of what's inside. And so we're trying to chase both aesthetics because I do think there is some power behind looking good and feeling good, but also what's on the inside too, because you can go years and years and have chronic disease even though you look good in the mirror.
