Secretary Xavier B. Kennedy launched the "Take Back Your Health" initiative to replace ultra-processed hospital food with nutrient-dense, farm-direct meals. Gary Brecka points out that his friend Steve, in a Mayo Clinic ICU, was given sugary sodas and Jell-O while severely malnourished, illustrating why hospitals need to overhaul what they serve.

So this is a historic moment. Secretary Kennedy just announced the Take Back Your Health initiative, which is actually reforming the way that hospitals source their foods. They're looking to bring nutrient-dense, farm-direct foods right into hospitals. And Administrator Dr. Oz also sent out an initiative to all of the hospitals in America asking that they follow the new dietary guidelines, which are protein-forward. These are not putting cereals and highly processed foods at the top of the food pyramid any longer. These are nutrient-dense, whole foods that heal our body from the inside out. You know, the sad fact is that most people are suffering from chronic disease because of the food that they've eaten and accumulated over their lifetime, and they're laying in the hospital suffering from chronic disease or dying of an ailment that was highly linked to the processed foods that they accumulated over decades and decades. This is targeting those foods as a direct cause of chronic disease. One of the most preventable things that we face in our country today is the chronic disease pandemic that is highly linked to the amount of processed foods that we put in our diet, and today was an absolute landmark shift in how hospitals will source their foods, and no longer will you see things like this, which was taken in the ICU of an oncology ward at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, when my, my very good friend, one of my best friends, was dying of colon cancer. Sadly, my friend Steve lost his battle with colon cancer, but I was shocked by the fact that they were bringing high sugary sodas, Jell-Os, pureed fruit cups into his room to feed him during this really difficult time of need and when his body was the most nutrient depleted. So hats off to Secretary Kennedy, Health and Human Services, and the Maha Movement for this major, major win. We're going to see major shifts in the way the hospitals source their food.
