There's endorphins, the runner's high. I get that feeling from working out. I get that feeling from cold plunging. Talk a little bit about endorphins role in this whole dose effect.
Where I think endorphins are fascinating is actually in stress and how humanity can cope. We see stress obviously deeply interconnected with cortisol and in these intense moments our body evolved to go into deep physical activation. There's this thing that would just flood our system and take the stress out of the mind and the stress and the physical pain out of the body. These days, like you might get stressed out like little emails and you're just dead sedentary if you think, right, I've got to walk, I've got to run up a hill, I've got to push some weights, I've got to freeze myself to death in an ice bath. That's how we activate the endorphins. That's how we get this like tension stress out of us.
