Neville Goddard Power of Awareness Chapter five. The truth that sets you free. I cannot tell you how many times my teacher told me that phrase. And I just. I was like, oh, I'm in bondage. I did not have any idea what she meant, but I knew it made sense. Here we go. The drama of life is a psychological one in which all the conditions, circumstances and events of your life are brought to pass by your assumptions. Since your life is determined by your assumptions, you are forced to recognize the fact that you are either a slave to your assumptions or their master. To become the master of your assumptions is the key to undreamed freedom and happiness. You can attain this mastery by deliberate conscious control of your imagination. You determine your assumptions in this way form a mental image, a picture of the state desired of the person you want to be. Concentrate your attention upon the feeling that you are already that person. First, visualize the picture in your consciousness. Then feel yourself to be in that state as though it actually formed your surrounding world by your imagination. That which was a mere mental image is changed into a seeming solid reality by your imagination. The great secret is a controlled imagination and a well sustained attention firmly and repeatedly focused on the object to be accomplished. It cannot be emphasized too much that by creating an ideal within your mental sphere, by assuming that you are already that ideal, you identify yourself with it and thereby transform yourself into its image. This was called by the ancient teachers, subjection to the will of God or resting in the Lord. And the only test of resting in the Lord is that all who do rest are inevitably transformed into the image of that in which they rest. You become according to your resigned will. And your resigned will is your concept of yourself and all that you consent to and accept as true. You, assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled and continuing therein, take upon yourself the results of that state. Not assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled, you are ever free of the results. You. Let me repeat the sentence. Assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled and containing. Excuse me. And continuing therein, take upon yourself the results of that state. Not assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled, you are ever free of the results. When you understand the redemptive function of imagination, you hold in your hands the key to the solution of all your problems. Make no mistake about it. Each self concept. Let's do this again. Here you are. I am all that is God right in the middle. And here's our self concepts. Me, you, her, them, it, mother, father, brother, sister, all self concepts. Here you're not married and single. Here you are married and you're in a happy relationship here you're a thousandaire, here you're a millionaire. All self concepts. You go from thousandaire to millionaire to billionaire. You go from married, you go from single to married to family to new house with kids. Okay. All of these self concepts have their own problems or seeming limitations. We are always on the ascend, we're always trying to ascend. These problems seem like limitations so we have the ability to imagine beyond them and to ascend, to elevate. When you understand the redemptive function of imagination, you hold in your hands the key to to the solution of all your problems. It doesn't matter which self concept you are in, you're going to change, you're going to ascend to another one. Because that's what we are. That's the nature of us. He gave us the nature. I am all that is. God right here in the middle put forth himself in us. And that is our nature to ascend. I don't think it's to be dissatisfied. It's love is the main lesson. The only lesson would be love. If in that lesson we discover that we have the ability to consciously control our reality, then let us delve into that and let us figure that out like we are now. Because that means we can solve any problem that might crop up in our self concept. It's one of being single, not in love. And I want to be that because of the desire that's embedded within. Then I become that as I become in love and married and I'm all happy with that. And I want to move into a house and have children. Let me conceptualize that there and become that here. This one has children growing up and they have to go to college. I got to put the funds together. Let me conceive that, let me believe that and let me embed my subconscious and let me have that reality here. Now I'm an empty nester and all my kids are successfully on to college and leading their own lives, all married and happy. Great. Now I get to go on cruises with my partner for the rest of my life. Whatever you want. It's always going to be a shifting of your self concept to be happy and to be happy again and to be happy again and it's not over. When you leave these states, these are all different states. When you leave one and you go to another one, when you leave the single one and you become the married one, this one doesn't vanish. This is a state that someone else is going to occupy. It's ready for the Taking it's ready for the use. When you go over here and you get married and you don't have the kids yet, you leave that to go have the kids and get a new house. This state of being married and happily in love is a state you abandoned and left behind. It's ready for occupation by somebody else. People aren't in line for states. It's a state that has occupation that you can go in and out of and which you are going to when you finish all these different states. You're 95 to 105 years old somewhere in there and you're going to be. You're going to be restored to life again. Whatever challenges you have when you leave are going to be the ones you face when you arrive again. That's restoration. Resurrection is different. We're going to get into that in the promise. Every phase of your life is made by the exercise of your imagination. Determined imagination alone is the means of your progress of the fulfilling of your dreams. Determined imagination alone is the means of your progress of the fulfilling of your dreams. It is the beginning and end of all creating. The great secret is a controlled imagination and a well sustained attention. Firmly and repeatedly focused on the feeling of the wish fulfilled until it fills the mind and crowds all other ideas out of consciousness. The great secret. Oh, this is. This is just. This is so I got to repeat it. Determined imagination alone alone is the means of your progress of the fulfilling of your dreams. It is the beginning and end of all creating. The great secret is a controlled imagination and a well sustained attention. Firmly and repeatedly focused on the feeling of the wish fulfilled until it fills the mind and crowds all other ideas out of consciousness. Once it fills the mind and crowds all other ideas out, then you know you have determined your objective and you are focused. The great secret is a controlled imagination and well sustained attention. Firmly and repeatedly remember the firmament. And repeatedly focused on the feeling of the wish fulfilled until it fills the mind and crowds all other ideas out of consciousness. What greater gifts could be given you than to be told the truth that will set you free? The truth that sets you free is that you can experience in imagination what you desire to experience in reality. And by maintaining this experience in imagination, your desire will become an actuality. There it is. That's the truth. That's the truth that sets you free. You are limited only by your uncontrolled imagination and lack of attention to the feeling of your wish fulfilled. When the imagination is not controlled and the attention not steadied on the feeling of the wish fulfilled then no amount of prayer or piety or invocation will produce the desired effect. When you can call up at will whatsoever image you please. When the forms of your imagination are as vivid to you as the forms of nature. You are master of your fate. When you can call up at will whatsoever image you please. When the forms of your imagination are as vivid to you as the forms of nature and you are master of your fate. Yes. Yes. Yes. Man, oh man. What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful chapter. Let's finish with a poem. Visions of beauty and splendor, Forms of a long lost race. Sounds and faces and voices from the fourth dimension of space and on through the universe boundless our thoughts go Lightning shod. Some call it imagination and others call it God. Wow. What a wonderful, wonderful chapter. Chapter five. The truth that sets you free. We'll see you in the next chapter.
