Alexandra J. Johnson talks about building an inspiring vision for your fitness practice. She encourages trying new movement challenges and embracing all forms of exercise as part of a sustainable approach to physical activity.
Hey everyone, it's Alexandra J. Johnson. I am about to head out the door to teach my goddess fitness class which is pretty awesome. A little bit of yoga, a little bit of dance, a little bit of strength training, a little bit of cardio. Gotta make sure we hit all the elements. So I'm really excited about it. I love teaching. And I'm drinking some coconut water, some fresh coconut water which is a great pre workout Dr. And then post workout drink as well. A lot of electrolytes. It's way better than Gatorade and things like that. So coconut water, big fan. But I wanted to talk to you about since I'm going to teach a movement class right now just about movement and I was journaling about this this morning about my movement practice of I'm really consistent with it and you know I move my body every single day. Whether that's walking, dancing, running, strength, whatever it is, I do something movement wise every day. But there for me there's not really like a vision. So I am creating a vision of what I want my movement practice to be like. You know, I think it's really important that we create visions to pull us forward and then also visions that inspire us. So for your movement practice, trying something new, you know, maybe running a race or for me I'm gonna step it up and I'm gonna start running more and I'm going to be doing a lot more strength training and functional training and just really cool stuff. So that is my vision and that's, I'm still crafting it of what's the next evolution for me, what are the next few months look like for my movement practice. But the video is an invitation to create a vision for your movement practice. What is it? What inspire. We all know that it's really beneficial and healthy for us to move, but a lot of times we don't have a vision, inspiring vision that compels us forward and says yes, I am super stoked about this and it can be one of the things that I want to learn and I've taken one class on it is pole dancing. It's really fun. So that's something that's a future vision that I'm looking forward to and studying yoga more and yeah, there's so many different things. So try new things, Tai chi, maybe do some rock climbing. There's an abundance of ways that we can move our bodies and then just create a vision of what you want to feel like in your body. How do you want to feel and what do you want to look like. I don't. You know, as you've seen in my other videos, I'm not a big fan of this scale. But, you know, what is your ideal body? How do you want to feel and move in your body? Do you want to be able to do pull ups? Do you want to be able to do, you know, 100 push ups? Carolyn, who's rocking the hundred push ups? Whatever it is, create a vision and be inspired around your movement practice. Don't have it be something that is a chore or that you have to do because you want to be healthy, but what actually inspires you. Somebody sent me a note the other day and said that they didn't know that dance could actually be a workout and they love to dance. So just being open and having your life be movement practice, you know, looking for every little opportunity to move your body. You know, you can get up from your computer and do squats, you know, whatever. There's so many different ways to move, but that's it. I gotta go to my class, so let me know if you want. I'd love to hear what you are inspired to take on or do a new challenge. Maybe it's run a race. I don't know. I know that Kate and Suki have inspired me of how much they train and they run for races and it's pretty awesome. So big props to you guys. Yeah. So that's it. That is the video for today. What's your vision? What do you want to do? What's something that you can challenge yourself and ooh, one more thing. Give up stories that you're not athletic or that you can't do stuff. I know. I've been a private trainer as well, and a lot of people say, oh, I'm not athletic or I can't dance or. Yeah, that's just not for me. Do it anyways. If you think that you suck at tennis, go and do it. So do things that you think you suck at because you can learn and you can have fun and there's no such thing as a bad athlete as long as you are trying. So that's it. I hope you have a fantastic day and I look forward to hearing about what movement practice inspires you. And maybe I can add some new ones to my list. So have a fantabulous day and I will see you soon.
