Get Your Priorities Straight!

Alexandra Johnson shares how she reorganized her life around her priorities as a new mother: her baby, husband, and health. She walks through how to identify what matters most to you and actually live by it.
Hey everyone, it's Alexandra. So today's video, getting your priorities straight is something that I've been working on in the last week and getting really clear about what my priorities are. I think this is super important. Important for us to know what our priorities are, like what is most important in our lives right now at this phase of the game and knowing that it will change. Our priorities will change, but we need to be clear about what's most important. What are the top three, five priorities in your life now? And as you maybe write down those priorities, what they are, check in with how you're living your life and see if they are aligned. The things that you're doing on a day to day basis, does that represent your priorities? Would I be able to look at your day and say, oh, these are her priorities or his priorities, or would you not even know if you had the priority to be healthy and there's nowhere in there that you worked out or didn't eat fruits and vegetables or whatever in your day, then would you really be honoring your priorities? So I think it's really, really, really important. And it's been super important for me as a new mom to really get clear. I don't have very much time and definitely not as much time as I used to have. So I needed to get clear in the last week. What is my top priority? What are my top priorities? And for me it was very clear. What with a four month old that I love dearly and I want to spend lots of time with him and give him the best healthy foundation I can by being present with him and loving with him. And in order to do that, he needs to be a top priority. So I had a feeling that I was going to start teaching and working more and doing things like that. And when I checked in, in order for me to be the best goddess mama I can be, I need to be resting as much as I can. So one of my top priorities is sleeping, which for those of you that have had a newborn, you know sleep can be challenging, especially from a sleep goddess who loves her sleep. Okay, so anyways, sleep is a priority. So as I was just feeling into these things, as much as I want to teach, as much as I want to share and get back to work, it just isn't my top priority at this moment. So I'm very clear. It's my little baby Emerson and it's my awesome husband Brian. Those are my two main priorities. And then me being healthy is kind of my three priorities. So I'm structuring my days so that I can give all my attention and my presence to my son and to my husband. And also making sure that I'm getting nourished, that I am going for walks, that I'm exercising, that I'm getting my nutrition, I'm getting my sleep. Meditation. Meditation. So those things are what help me stay plugged in so I can be healthy. So I can be a fantabulous wife and a fantabulous mother. Because if I am not feeling healthy and alive, I'm a little crabby. I'll be honest with you, I cannot be. I'm not all sunshine and roses if I'm not super on my health game. So I've just gotten really clear that I need to be doing that. So that's my story. What is your story? What are your priorities? Are you living them? How can you live them more? How can you structure your days so that you are really embodying your priorities and giving yourself to them and not wasting time? Don't waste time on things that are not important and be willing to let go of things that you think you should be doing or that you do that waste time. Because we all have those time wasters and life is way too short. It's way too short to be wasting our life on crap that doesn't matter. So get clear what your priorities are and rock them. And thank you so much for watching. I hope you have a gorgeous day. And until next time, here's little Emerson. Say hi, buddy. Hi. Say bye. Bye.
