How to nourish yourself in 30 seconds

Alexandra shares quick self-care practices for pregnant people and new mothers, including small moments to feel nourished throughout the day. She introduces her child Emerson and offers personal reflections on finding time for yourself when life is overwhelming.
Hey everyone, it's Alexandra and Emerson. Say hi Emerson. I hope you're having a wonderful day. And today's video is on how you can feel nourished in 30 seconds. Fancy pants. But this has been a practice for me and it's been a practice for a while now. For the last six months I've had on my whiteboard, how can I nourish myself in this moment? And I've been asking myself that during my pregnancy and especially in the last two months as a new mother, asking myself how can I nourish myself in this moment, in this moment, how can I feel nourished? And sometimes that's only 30, 30 seconds on the toilet and I ask the question, maybe take a few deep breaths, say an affirmation and I just tap into feeling nourished and taken care of. And I think it's a really important practice because I know a lot of times we wait to feel nourished until we get to do our self care ritual, whatever that is, whether that's a bath or whatever you have for your self care to really feel nourished. And what I found is that those are all awesome. And I love, I love working out, I love taking baths, although I haven't taken one in two months. I have showered though, I just haven't taken a luxurious bath. Oh gosh. So sometimes we just don't have those hours to really feel nourished. And if we can just add like a little moment here, a minute here, a couple minutes here, just to drop in and connect to our goddess selves, to connect to our essence, connect to our breath, breathe down into our feet, check in with your attitude, what is your attitude? And do you need an attitude adjustment? A lot of times on the toilet, matter of fact, I will have an attitude adjustment. 30 seconds to take a deep breath and check in with where my mental state is and then choose to shift. If I feel irritated or I feel frustrated or I feel tired or whatever, that's a choice. I can choose to focus on that or I can choose to feel nourished and I can choose feel grateful, I can choose to feel joyful. I can think about ways that I can make my life easier and more joyful and have more gratitude in my life. So it's always a choice. We can feel nourished or not. And it doesn't matter what the circumstance is, it doesn't matter if we get to do our self care things that we need to fill us up. And I am all for those. If you know anything about me I'm very much into those. But for those times that you don't have it, and especially as new mother, I don't have that. And I know that there's a lot of mothers out there and I know there's a lot of people out there who don't have the couple hours to do that. So then you can just add little self care rituals in where you're asking how you can nourish yourself. And I think it's really, really important. And it's amazing what a deep breath can do. And it's amazing what an attitude adjustment can do. I can feel a little tired and functified and I check in and I am totally in a victim space. It's like, oh, poor me and me, me, me. All those negative stories that we have that love to pop up on occasion. I know for me, maybe not for you, but really checking with those stories and letting them go and creating a new story in that moment. And you will feel nourished and you'll feel great and, and it's a practice. It is definitely a practice. That's why I've had it on my whiteboard for six months. To really, really commit to it and allow yourself to feel good right now, there's nothing stopping you from feeling good right now. So that's the idea. Ask yourself a few times today, how can I feel nourished right now? How can I nourish myself in this moment? And then give yourself the minute, the couple minutes to really do it. I mean, if you have a few minutes to meditate, that's awesome. You're gonna feel more plugged in than if you didn't. So just keep doing that and stay positive, stay connected and stay awesome. So I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful day. And this is the first official video with the little man, little Emerson, sweet little angel. So yes, that's it. Have a wonderful day. I know I already said that. I have mommy brain. I probably said it three times, so just bear with me. But sending lots of love and I will see you soon.
