Move Through Your Negativity

Alexandra Johnson shares a personal story about recognizing negative emotions and breaking the cycle. She argues that running or any active movement can shift you out of negativity and change your emotional patterns.
Hi everyone, it's Alexandra. Hope you're having a wonderful day. Today's video is on how to move through your crap. So I'm gonna start off with reading a little passage from the places that scare you, and then I will tell you a story of how I used it. So here it is. Acknowledging that we are all churned up is the first and most difficult step in any practice. Without compassionate recognition that we're st, it's impossible to liberate ourselves from confusion. Doing something different is anything that interrupts our ancient habit of tenaciously indulging in our emotions. We do anything to cut the strong tendency to spin out. We can let the storyline go and connect with the underlying energy. Then she goes on to say that anything that's non habitual will do, even sing and dance or run around the block. We do anything that doesn't reinforce our crippling habits. And then she says that this is not something we do once or twice. Interrupting our destructive habits and awakening our heart is the work of a lifetime. Awesome. For so many reasons. So I had read this a couple days ago and it was just kind of like in my mind and I was thinking about it and yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to use it and I woke up and I was feeling a little tired and a little functified and our super sweet dog has been sick and she has been throwing up and having diarrhea all over our house for the last couple days. So yesterday she woke up and literally in like five minutes was pooping and peeing and just everything everywhere. And Brian was out walking with the little man. So I had some time and I just found myself cleaning up after her and wanted to work out and things weren't going how I anticipated that they were gonna go for the morning. So this passage came up in my mind and I was like, okay, I am definitely in. I'm in some negativity right now, so I am going to do something different. I was like, should I do yoga? Should I do dance? And for me, I was like, you know, I need to go and run. I have not run literally in a year because I've been pregnant and just haven't run. So I'm like, I need to run. I need to this energy. I'm committed to having a great day and it's not starting off so great. And I am just going down into some negativity and some crap and I need to move. And as she says, FEMA says move, do anything, anything different than what you normally do. So I put my running shoes on and I went and ran for 25 minutes and it felt awesome. And for me, I was working on letting go of the story, letting go of my story of how I wanted my morning to go, just letting go of the drive that I was stuck in and just ruminating on. So I went and ran and just channeled the energy and noticed the amazing leaves changing and the fresh air and just how beautiful it was. And I just got out of my funk. But it definitely took something to get my running shoes on and get my booty out there and doing it. So this is such an important practice and as she says, it's. It's the practice of a lifetime. It doesn't. It's not something we do once or twice and that we indulge in our emotions a little too much, in my opinion. And I know that I can indulge in them, but it never feels good, it feels dense, it feels heavy, it feels blah. So we can have the, as she says, recognizing that we are in a funk and then doing something about it, doing anything different than we normally do. Because you know, we all have our negative habits and what we do when we feel stressed, when we feel frustrated, irritated, do we go to feeling depressed, do we go to eat, do we get online, what are our tendencies and how do we do something different? So I hope that this passage will inspire you to do something different. That when the next time you're feeling crappy and you are just stuck, do something different. Think about this passage, think about this video and move, get going, do something totally different and don't stay in that place. And the more that we can do that, consistently change and do something different that we, the more that we will actually start to feel lighter and we will awaken our heart and we will feel more gratitude and more love. It's not going to just happen. We, for most of us have a lot of habits of negativity that we need to transform. So we need to do the work, we need to show up, we need to shift, we need to, to change, we need to go run around the block. Alright, So I hope that this helps. I hope that you're inspired by this passage and I send you lots of love as you move through your negative habits and your stuck energy and know that we all have it, we all got our crap. And commit to showing up every day and commit to moving through it, changing, doing something different. New neural pathways in your brain so that you can live with more happiness and mojo. Have an awesome day. And until next time.
