Offline Retreat (Momma style)

Alexandra shares why she's taking an offline retreat to reset after health challenges including seizures from mold exposure and emotional trauma. She's using neurofeedback and EMDR therapy, planning to meditate and slow down as she enters the new year.
Hello, it's Alexandra. I hope you're having an awesome day. So today's video is Internet free retreat mama style. And I am going on an Internet free retreat, obviously. So I just want to do a video here and just share what I'm doing. Maybe it will spark something in you. It's just a different way to bring in the new year that I am going to do. And. And the idea essentially came to me in the last week. I went to see my cooling therapist who I've been seeing for the last decade. I love her. She's like been my health coach, my life coach, my spiritual mentor. I love, love, love her. And I haven't seen her for a while and it was just really delightful to be in her presence and very healing. And I was talking to her about my recent health opportunity that I've been working with. And if you follow my blog, you know that I had two seizures about four and a half months ago. And we traced it and we figured it out to mold and an undetected leak in our kitchen sink that we remediated and we got, you know, we figured it all out and I did a mycotoxins urine test and figured out that I had molded my system. So molded mold is a neurotoxin for your brain and yeah, you just don't want that in your brain. So I feel like we found the root cause of that. But we went to go see Daniel. Amen. And he had looked at done a brain scan. We did a brain scan with him, which is awesome. Check out him. Amen clinics.com and he's written a whole bunch of books and he's amazing. Love, love and appreciate him. And he just said that it looked like there was a little bit of emotional trauma in my brain, a diamond pattern that he thought I could just do a little bit of emotional work and that stemming from potentially probably our dog being killed at the beach and then our best friend dying and in a speed flying accident. And just, it was just, it was an intense last year and so he recommended that I just do some neurofeedback, which I'm doing just EMDR therapy. So I'm doing a few of those things to kind of reset my brain. But back to my appointment with Eloise, I was just talking to her about resetting my brain and just kind of working with this little pattern that I have in my brain, just little emotional trauma stuff. And I was like, you know what, what do you think? Like, what would reset it? And she said 21 day retreat and I laughed and I said, okay, well, I'm not gonna be taking a 21 day retreat anytime soon. Probably not for the next 20 years. Being a. And so anyways, we just kind of joked about it and we talked a little bit more about what she would recommend. And then as I was driving home, I was thinking, or getting driven home because I just recently got the okay to drive because I haven't been able to drive for four months. But I was thinking about how I could actually do that. Like, I'm not gonna do a 21 just solo retreat, but I can actually create my lifestyle for 21 days, two weeks, whatever, to actually turn the Internet off. Turn the Internet off, slow down, go to sleep, meditate as much as I can and just create a mindful practice and bring in the new year in more stillness and meditation versus which I get excited about. I have lots of creative ideas for 2016 and I'm super jazzed. And there's a feeling of wanting to get super up and amped up and get everything organized for that. And I think that there's a place for that. And for me, I'm just being called to just slow down. I have obviously special circumstances that I'm working with. And it just felt, when I felt into it of creating a space for the next two weeks to really just slow down and to do less and to enjoy more and more, meditate as much as I could and try to model as much as I can being a mom to the two ten day silent meditation retreats I did. And in those retreats, you literally meditate for 10 hours a day. You eat, you sleep, and you walk and that is all you do for 10 days. It is like meditation boot camp, super intense. The first one I did, the second day, I cried. I didn't think I could do it. I was like, I'm never gonna make it. But you get done with it and you just feel so connected to yourself and so alive and so vibrant and so just restored. So I wanted to create something where I could do that, where I could create the space to just rest and relax and restore. So that's what I am doing for starting this week. So I want to do a video to let you know that I'm not gonna be doing any blogs or videos. I will be offline, just restoring, rebooting, recharging, meditating, relaxing, not being on the Internet and just letting my body reset and being open and receptive to what 2016 is going to bring and who I want to be and just being with my family and just not having a lot of to do and just rest in that space and just be comfortable with resetting and sleeping more. I think in our culture, there's this feeling that you always need to be going and going and going. And what I'm finding is I just have a really different pace. My essence pace is much slower. I don't like to be online that much, and I'm just really owning it. So inquire into what your essence pace is. What is your ideal pace? Can you slow down a little bit more? Would that feel more restorative? How can you allow your body to rest and relax and be as vibrant as you can? And I got boys here, so we are done with the video for today, so hope you have an awesome day and I will talk to you after the dinner here.
