Power of Calm - Self Care for the Mind

This is a YouTube video titled "Power of Calm - Self Care for the Mind" created in January 2014. The content features a single speaker named Alexandra sharing a personal talk about the importance of mental self-care through calming the mind and breathing techniques. She discusses managing stress, slowing down, and using mantras for mental well-being.
Hello, hello, it's Alexandra. So today's video is the power of calm and it is self care for the mind. And I think this is such a powerful self care tool to have in your little toolbox. And essentially self care, we think of it as like rest and baths and massages and just things that nurture our soul, which I am a huge, huge fan of those and I am a self care queen. I love them. But you know the realities of life. Sometimes we just don't have time to do all the luxurious self care stuff that we would like to do. You know, like laying in bed, you may have kids or something that wake you up and you can't lay in bed and read and just hang out. That might be one of mine. So what do you do? I think it is so important to really care for your mind. And in today's world everything is going so fast, including our mind, our minds are racing. We need to do this, this, this, this, this. And we never slow down and just breathe. So having self care for your mind is slowing your brain down, slowing everything down, taking moments throughout the day, whether you're doing the dishes or you're running your errands. But do it slower and calmer and just let your body and your mind relax. And breath is the best thing that you can do to calm your mind. So let's just take a few deep breaths right now. We will do a little self care mind snack right now. So let's close our eyes. Just focus on your breath. Just take a few slow inhales through the nose and then exhale through your mouth again. Gently open your eyes. That feels good. I already feel calm and relaxed and I think this is such. If you can just do this throughout the day and just notice when you start, start feeling anxious and you're hurrying and you really just want to take a break. We always have access to our breath. We can always take that breath. Even if you, you know, you're at work or you're in a meeting and you're feeling stressed, whatever it is, and you're dreaming of going on vacation, take these mini breaks and just renew and replenish your mind, calm your nervous system. It is such a beautiful and powerful practice. So that is the video for today. Get your calm on, Relax, breathe and you can even. What I do one more thing is when I notice that I'm hurrying and my mind just feels scattered and I feel a little overwhelmed. One of my mantras that I come back to is I am enough, I do enough, I have enough it's this feeling of abundance, it's contentment, it's gratitude, it's I can rest, I am enough. I have enough and I do enough. So that. That's my kind of remedy. What is your. Where are the places when you start to feel stressed? What are your stories? For me, it's definitely obviously that I'm not doing enough. I'm not doing it, you know, I gotta do more, I gotta be more. And it's like, ah, no, I don't. I can just breathe and everything is all good. So figure out what your stories are, what causes stress in your mind, and remember to breathe and breathe in that calm and let your body relax. So have a great day and until next time.
