Turn Complaints into Appreciations

This is a YouTube video titled "Turn Complaints into Appreciations" created in December 2012. It features a monologue by Alexandra Johnson sharing a personal story and advice on transforming frustrations and complaints about loved ones into love and appreciation, emphasizing gratitude and emotional perspective shifts in relationships.
Hey, everyone, it's Alexandra. Hope you're having a wonderful day. So today's video is on how to turn your complaints and criticisms into love and appreciation. And I got this idea. I read. I don't know what book it was, but I read a story that really hit home for me, and I've been using it in the last couple weeks, month. And the story is that a woman, every morning to wake up and get really frustrated with her husband because he would make toast and there'd be breadcrumbs all over the counter. She just couldn't understand why he wouldn't pick up these crumbs. And he didn't seem bothered by it, but she was really annoyed by it. And she had this aha. That the breadcrumbs were a sign that he was alive, that he was in her life. And if the bread crumbs were no longer there, then that would mean that he was gone. And she just had this, like, an emotional wave, as you could imagine, feeling into that, that she then turned it around to appreciate the breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs were a sign that her husband was alive and well and in her life. And anytime that she felt frustrated, that she could turn it around and love and appreciate him, that he was in her life, and feel so grateful that he was in her life. So I just love that story. And I think it's really important when we have these complaints or these criticisms of our loved ones that we can step back and use this as a tool. Like, what if this person was no longer in your life? What if they passed away or they left you or whatever. Imagine that. Would this little thing, the breadcrumbs or whatever your breadcrumbs is, be that big of a deal? I mean, in reality, no, it would not be a big deal at all. So if we can take in those moments where we feel frustrated, irritated, if we can just step back and breathe and say, you know what? This is a sign that this person is in my life, and I'm going to choose to turn it around and feel love and appreciation for this amazing person in my life and find the things that you do appreciate about them and then just laugh. Like the little things that bother us, just learn to laugh and say, you know what? That's my husband, that's my wife, that's my kid, whatever it is, I love them, and I'm so happy and I'm so grateful that they're in my life. I know I've been using this for my husband and for my son. And just for my life for anything like if they were gone I would wish for those things that I feel frustrated in in that moment. So I think it's a really, really transformational practice to really step back and appreciate and turn our complaints into love and appreciation. And if you're ever irritated remember the breadcrumbs story and yeah just love, love your loved ones and realize we all have our funky quirks and weird ha things that irritate others and that's just part of life. So embracing, embracing humanity, human nature and that we're all, we're all unique and different and learn to appreciate and not get frustrated with our loved ones and appreciate that they are in our lives and make sure that we do that every single day. Don't go a day without letting your loved ones know that you love them and let go of the drama. So I hope this helps and I hope you have a beautiful day and until next time.
