GoodFit & Notion Capital - Itxaso Del Palacio + Harrison Rose

This is a short interview between Itxaso Del Palacio (Notion Capital) and Harrison Rose (founder of Good Fit). Good Fit is described as a data platform for Go-to-Market teams that uses AI to identify leads and run programmatic GTM strategies. The conversation covers why Notion invested (prior relationship dating to 2017, strong operating support and partner fit) and a market outlook claiming lead-generation/related market may be around $35 billion in 10 years.

What does Good Fit do?
So Good Fit is a data platform for Go to Market team. So we'll help you run a more efficient sales team or do something a little more exciting and programmatic in Go to Market with the data that feeds how you're choosing to go to market, whatever that looks like for your business.
Great. And why did you choose Notion as an investor?
I mean it was an easy choice for me. I started working with Notion back in, I think 2017 with my previous company paddle, and honestly raising our first round of institutional funding with Good Fit. It was the only choice and the only set of folks I wanted to work with. I think such was the experience we had over the now nearly decade working with the Notion folks. It's just an incredible experience working with you guys as a set of investors. A lot of investors feel and look the same from the outside looking in, but it's a tangible difference with Notion from their operating experience to the authentic belief and support you get as a founder. It's just been wonderful working with you guys. So it was an easy choice second time round, I'd say.
I'm glad you enjoy it and you chose Notion for sure.
And then why did you choose GoodFit?
So I think obviously the search, the lead generation market is changing significantly. People are not searching anymore in Google and so ads are becoming less and less efficient as a way to generate leads. And I think that is where Good Fit comes in. As you've seen, basically AI to identify leads for any business and to help them run all of those go to market programmatic strategies. I do think this is a huge market expecting to be around 35 billion in 10 years. And so the market is not going to shrink. Still people need to identify their leads and reach out to them. And this is a problem that you guys experienced when you were building padd. So you have firsthand experience solving it for yourself. You build your own algorithms and you were able to identify your leads at the time. So there is an extraordinary founder problem and market fit that it is great for us. Ultimately we back you at 18 when you started paddle and so it's a no brainer for us to back you again with much more experience and a couple of years after for sure, yeah.
Some mistakes made along the way. I guess in the same way you think about founder market fit, I guess you also need to think about that at a partner level too when working with an investor because not only are you bringing an investment firm onto the cap table, but you're also going to be working with a partner at a board level and probably that individual for a really long time as well. So that's the other thing I certainly thought about when we had the privilege of raising from notion which partner we'd want to work with and the reason I've chosen Newer Chester as we've talked about is that our world back at Paddle was very much a sales led one and when we think about how the market is changing and evolving as you've just described, you're experiencing a lot of these problems firsthand and a lot of the companies you invested in you're incredibly well versed in the product led growth and I just felt there was a really good yin and yang of different experiences and perspectives that were going to really set the company up for success I think over the years ahead too. So we certainly thought about partner fit I guess as opposed to founder market fit.
That's great because I am incredibly excited about the opportunity and I think we can definitely be like a huge business behind it.
Awesome.
