How to Make Relational Differences Work For You Instead of Against You

Heather from Prescriptive Living explains how to turn relationship differences into strengths instead of friction. She covers compatibility, communication, and the relational skills that help partnerships thrive when people understand each other's individual differences.
Hi, it's Heather with Prescriptive Living. This is the place our savvy singles come to get tips to fail proof their life in love. And today we're going to talk about something very dear to my heart, because this is the aspect of how to do relationship and do unions with other people and allowing the differences that each person has to work together rather than become irreconcilable, which is what happens a lot of times in relationship. So I'm going to talk a little bit about why that happens, and then we're going to talk about some of those differences and some of the nuances and then how to get to the other side so that you can be part of the 12% who are thriving in their relational union. And a lot of it has to do with really understanding and nurturing all the unique nuances that makes each person their most vibrant, unique self. All right, so let's just kind of go into this a little bit. All right, so everybody is unique in a lot of different ways, right? And what happens is a lot of times when people meet someone and get attracted to someone and start to, you know, develop a relationship, a lot of times people aren't going in with a clear plan because it's not very cool or romantic. It kind of takes the fun out of the whole partnership dating component. So people don't really think about all of these things that are really important to align well on and to understand and to nurture, to be able to connect well and support one another in a way where people don't become frustrated and irritated by personality differences, gender differences, behavioral differences. These are the areas that, that generally send people into a downward spiral. What happens is a lot of times people will fall in love with a person because of chemistry and the connection and the intimacy and the fun, but they don't have the understanding or the alignment on some of the things that end up being really majors, really important to do relationship well. Okay, so this is big picture thinking. Okay, this is the big picture talking. But I'm going to cover a couple of the differences that can show up and really make it hard for people to connect outside of some of the more glamorous, fun, playful things that people aren't thinking about. But for example, let's say somebody is a very detail oriented person, right? They're just caught up in all of the details. And then there's the people out there who are very big picture thinking and they're not paying attention to the details. Both of those things are obviously very different extremes and there's downsides for people who are all big picture and all details because they're missing components, right. The more you can be in the central area of understanding the details and the big pictures and how they need to work together, it's great. But when you're with people who have that diverse spectrum and you're not maybe in the centralized balance place, those differences can become maddening. That's one example. We cover up to about 30, 40 layers deep in our cheers to living well or the living well course. And then we cover the things that are really important for relationship on the loving well course. So we're going to talk about a couple of those now. But you know, the big picture, the details, right? That's one piece. Another one is people who are just doing, doing, doing, doing, doing, doing, doing, right? Like I'm so busy, I'm go, go, go, go, go. They don't know how to be still and be nurture themselves. Right? And being a beer is a lot of analytical thinking and doing is action. Again, either extreme. Neither are healthy. You want to be a doer and a thinker and a thinker and a doer. So being able to recognize these type of differences and nurture them for self and in partnership, very, very important. Talk about another one. One person might be a really big risk taker. Another person might thrive on security. Now again, we're just touching a couple. These are not even like the important ones. These are not even the big deal makers that are important. But understanding is the difference between being able to reconcile differences with other people and or ending up in a place where these differences become irreconcilable. So awareness and understanding, as always becomes fundamentally important. And so that's why we kind of do the courses that we do for the, you know, Fail Proof youf Life, Fail Proof youf Love. The Uncommon Love series as a whole is to help people have the understanding of what makes them tick and thrive and then what is important for relational union. So there are nine big picture ideas that are very important for true relational health and compatibility. Okay, so I'll mention a couple of them here. We get into these and do a deep dive on these on the Fail Proof you Love series. And we're going to do that course on a week from Sunday. So a week from tomorrow that course is going to be available. And if you're interested in learning more about it, you can, you can find out about it on our Facebook Prescriptive Living page because that's where the details will be launched for it. You'll be able to see it. But in that I'm going to cover a couple because we go through major things. We talk about the seven core needs of this exodus. These are fundamentally the most important thing people align with for relational health. Because these things, when not met, any one of them not met relationship starts to go into a disconnect, downward spiral. So those are things you want to align on first and foremost and look to see if these can be compatible. Because if they can't, then the chance of having a vibrant, 12% thriving relationship long term are slim to none without those being nurtured in that. So that's one of the nine big ideas. Some of the other ones are aligned to people's character. And when the character component shows up, it hits on three different layers. It ends up on choices on their commitments and if they are somebody who will just keep doing the same thing, or if they're somebody who will learn and course correct. So that's just two areas we're talking about that have multiple layers of components to it that are all very, very deep. These are two of the nine. So we go through all of those in tremendous detail in this course that we're doing next Sunday. And we also talk about the skills to do conflict and communication really well and to bring people to a place in the good times and the bad times of connection rather than isolation. This allows people to really be partners in their journey through life and love together and to nurture one another in their unique attributes so that their differences, because the differences are important and they exist and you want to nurture those. You don't want to try and change people to conform because that is when they become like dead inside. They lose their vibrance, they lose their essence, they lose their intrigue and interest. And it happens a lot. So the way you prevent those type of things from happening is you really become hyper aware of all the things that make you thrive as an individual, make the other person thrive as an individual and align for those for perfect alignment on relational compatibility component, you have to know what those things are and then you have to start implementing them to be able to see them be realized. And so that's why we do these two courses to give people the understanding, the awareness, the skill and the know how to literally create beautiful mastery in themselves and in being able to align well in a partnership and have a great life. So, so that is all we're going to talk about today. I just want to give you this. We all get in life what we choose and we all get what we tolerate. And so the thing is, we have to think about, are we tolerating things in our life that aren't serving us? Well, if we are, we're the only ones who can change that. We've got to go back to the choices we're making. So that is what I want to encourage you to think about. If your choices are are not yielding you the outcomes that you want, it is time to reflect on what you're going to do about it, because you won't get different outcomes without doing something different. Okay. So cheers to living and Loving.
