This Destroys Relationships, Trust and Connection

Heather from Prescriptive Living argues that lack of self-awareness creates misunderstandings that damage relationships and trust. She emphasizes acceptance and understanding as keys to healthier personal and professional connections.
Hi, it is Heather with Prescriptive Living. This is where our savvy singles come every single week to get tips to fail proof, life and love. And this week I am just gonna, I am gonna talk about something that happens way too often and it is a damn shame. It is, it's a damn shame. Misunderstandings, misunderstandings happen when people don't have awareness of themselves and a person is imposing an idea or thought on them and they end up feeling bad about who they are because they're basically in some ways being rejected. And that is like a violation of the number one need of all people. People want to be accepted and loved first and foremost. And when they are, people are misunderstood. It is a. With a person who doesn't have high self awareness, they end up feeling insecure, they end up feeling bad, they end up feeling like there's something wrong with them, which is not true in a lot of cases. In a lot of cases that is just that they need to have the awareness of what makes them tick, thrive and unique and help be confident in that. And then to be able to help others do that. When that's done, they no longer feel bad about being who they are. And they don't, they don't like that whole issue can go away. The other thing is, is when somebody has high self awareness and they're with somebody else who doesn't have it and that other person starts imposing wrong thoughts and ideas and it is so annoying, like it is so offensive. And you just don't even want to be around people in those situations because they don't understand. Stephen Covey said it in the book how to Win Friends and Influence People. One of the key things seek first to understand and then be understood. So when people are making assumptions, they are wrong. And they often are, especially with a highly aware person, the aware person is literally usually going to dismiss the other person because that other person clearly does not know what they're talking about. And it's just, it's not attractive. It's not attractive. So Ellen DeGeneres was saying, it's amazing to be loved, but to be understood is truly profound. And it is. That is where great relationships happen, professionally and personally. They don't happen outside of it. So if you want to bridge gaps in either understanding of self or others in a way that can create better outcomes in your life, you're going to want to join us in the Uncommon Love series.
