Nets fans, prior to the start of the season, the Brooklyn Nets announced that the only official scorer in team history, Herb Turecki, would be retiring after 54 years with the organization. In 1967, Turecki scored the first game in franchise history while he was a senior at Long Island University. That game began a career that spanned more than 2,200 games and was eventually certified as a record for professional basketball games scored in the Guinness Book of World Records. Earlier tonight, the Nets honored Turecki by dedicating the scorer's table with the installation of a plaque. He has been named the franchise's official scorer emeritus. And now Brooklyn, please direct your attention to center court and join us in saying thank you to Herb Toretsky as he receives a 75th anniversary NBA ball and a number 54 jersey to celebrate his 54 years of service with the Nets. He's joined tonight by his wife Jane, Nets and Barclays Center CEO John Abomondi, Nets General Manager Sean Marks, and Nets legends Kerry Kittles, Otis Birdsong, Albert King, Brian Taylor, and Buck Williams. Let's all say thank you to Herb Turetsky. Thank you, Herb. Love you, man.
