In this solo morning monologue, Hector R. Perdomo Sr., President of the Naismith International Basketball Foundation and self‑described Legacy Keeper, shares his daily walking routine, personal health journey, and core philosophy. He explains how he walks laps equal to a basketball court each morning, counting each lap with a manual counter, and notes that this habit has helped him lose weight and improve his mental state after self‑diagnosing depression. Perdomo emphasizes basketball’s foundational values—dignity, honor, and respect—rejecting a focus on flashy play. He announces the Good Sportsmanship Tour 2025, a program aimed at reducing recidivism and improving kids’ lives through sport. Throughout, he urges viewers to stay strong in body, keep a clean mind, and maintain lofty ideals, ending with a motivational call to live, love, and laugh each day.

Good morning, good morning, good morning, Naismith Nation. This is President Perdomo of the Naismith International Basketball Foundation. This is how we start our morning every day. Make sure we got our mind right, our body's healthy, and we have an agenda to take care of. I do my best every morning to get up and walk. And as you can see, it's the length of at least a basketball court. So I'm doing what I did, what I taught my kids when they were growing up. You gotta do your laps. And I'm about to do my laps to make sure I leave this place a better place. And appreciate you. Do my best to continue my mission, and that is to be the Naismith Legacy Keeper. We want to make sure that we remind people that this game is all about dignity, honor, and respect. It's not about step-back threes and trying to make somebody look dumb, you know what I mean? And you guys, you guys don't miss the boat on that one because they did that in the Rucker back in the '70s. So I thank you, um, and, uh, I'll see you again. Time to do my laps. Well, you can see what I do every morning. Um, every 10th lap, I, I turn around, change it up. Uh, got a good old-fashioned counter here, you know what I mean? This is— you don't need no batteries for this one but yourself. But I got another 20 more, 20 more to go. I don't want to hold you guys up. I thank you for your time. Um, We get up every morning to do this. We get to see the sunrise. We get to be blessed every day. I thank you for stopping by. Um, you— I lost a lot of weight doing this, and my mind's gotten much better. I've diagnosed myself with a deep depression, and I, I realized that I don't take care of me, man. Ain't nobody gonna do it, man. So do your best, stay Stay strong in body, clean in mind— clean in mind, very important— and lofty in ideals, which is never lose your imagination and your love for whatever you do. And my love, of course, is basketball, helping kids' lives get better. This year we will create the good— the Nation with Good Sportsmanship Tour 2025 to reduce recidivism. I gotta go, gotta keep the flow, starting to feel the sweat. But I'll see you tomorrow. Today is February 28th. I try to do this 5 to at least 5 times a week, and I got a long way to go. And hopefully you guys are there. You're there, I hope so. Thank you for your time. Be safe, be careful out there. People have lost what it is just to be a simple, a simple kind person and love one another. Live, love, and laugh. That's the only way to Live for another day and live today as tomorrow isn't around, because tomorrow is never promised. But the best thing that the Creator created was another day. Enjoy your day. God bless. Strong in body, clean in mind, lofty in ideals. Dignity, honor, and respect don't and will not change. Hector Perdomo, President of the Naismith Foundation, the Legacy Keeper. I'm out.
