I think this whole idea of hiring slow slows you down. You should create a recruiting process that enables you to hire as fast as possible. Why would you want to optimize for hiring slowly? If you could optimize for hiring fast and really well, you should actually hire fast and fire fast. So the biggest firing mistake we all make is not let go of the person fast enough. And we come up with all kinds of excuses of why we shouldn't, and they're all wrong, because the second that person's gone, there's like, a level of relief that happens, not just for you, but the entire organization, usually. So I've never fired someone and regretted it, and I don't think I ever will.
