Chapters
Welcome to chapter one of the EConnect Big Data Analyst Certification Program. Today's focus and emphasis for Quiz 1 will be centered on how to navigate the Home screen, access camera and camera features, and use the summary view on the POS tab.
We'll begin with the Home screen, which is presented to you after a successful login. Our software uses tabs to navigate. To return to the Home screen at any time, click Home in the upper left hand corner. The econnect software is modular. Depending on the type of installation and your access, some of these tiles may not be available, such as a supermarket would not have Table Ratings or Tile Ratings Showing Up Today we're going to begin with the tile that shows up in the upper left hand corner being the Active Users tile or the Login History tile. This tile is going to give you information for how many times the system has been logged into in the last 24 hours, 30 days, or the last 365 days. If we expand this tile, this will give us a list of all the users that have logged in, the number of times they've logged in, the total time spent in the system, and the average time spent in the system.
We can select our own date range and be able to track who's using the software. We can also hit the gray button on the bottom and switch to the other tile that shows us who's currently logged into the system.
Next, we'll go into our Pending Reviews tab. The Pending Reviews tab will show up with a number in it. It'll also show up as a graph. If we expand this tile, we can see all line items that have been set to pending and we'll go over this a little bit later when we go over the POS package, we also have this graph. This graph is going to show you what everybody is doing in the system, meaning on this particular day there are 27 items that have been reviewed in the system, one that is set to pending and one that is set to cleared. Over here, we can come and select any one of our employees and see what they've done by comparison with everybody else in the system. On this day, for instance, there were 23 total reviews done, three set to pending, one was cleared. This particular user did 10 of those reviews and set one of those to pending. So it allows us to see who's actually utilizing the system. The next tile is our cams tile. This represents the amount of cameras that this user has access to. Below the cams tile, see our available video downloads. When a user decides to create an export, the econnect system will export the video, bundle it with the point of sale data and make it available for download. This process could take up to 30 minutes. So if you logged off or went away from your computer, this is where you will see your downloads that are queued up. Moving on up at the top we have our Cases tab. This lets us know the total number of cases that are in the software along with the number of cases that you have. The next tile we're going to go over is the Queries tile. This will automatically cycle through all the queries that are under the POS summary. The cycle stream allows you to identify peaks in the system.
On this particular query, we can see that there were nine total used greater than zero or less than zero. So if we click here, it's going to take us to our data grid that shows us all of the results.
And lastly we have our approximate revenue tile. This tile is going to show us the approximate revenue in the past hour. Or we hit the drop down menu. We can see the last 6 hours, 12 hours or 24 hours. It will also show us the number of terminals that are currently online. So and the terminals that are in the system. From the home screen we're going to go ahead and navigate over to our cameras tab. For us it's POS cams. For you it might be cams or cameras. If we click on this tab now, we can see all the camera groups that are set up in the system.
There are multiple ways we can add cameras. First way is up at the top we can put the name of the camera we're looking for and it will automatically populate any results for that camera. And we can drag and drop the camera into the viewing area.
Or we can hit the plus symbol next to the name of the camera. It's good to note that if you drag and drop a camera, it will replace the existing camera. It will not add an additional camera.
Now to close the cameras, there's two different ways we can close it. The first way is to hit the X in the upper right hand corner of the camera itself. The other way is at the bottom right hand corner. If we click on this X, this will close out all the cameras that are in current view.
Next way to add a camera is to the left of the camera group there's an arrow. Click on this arrow and it will expand and show us all the cameras that are within this group. Once again we can drag and drop to add a camera or simply click the plus symbol to add a camera beside the camera group. You can see a number. In this case, it's a number six. If we click the plus symbol here, it will add all six cameras within this group. This feature is automatically disabled if the camera group contains more than 10 cameras.
Let's go ahead and add these two cameras that are in this reference center.
We see that right now. We can see multiple registers that are showing and also in this shot. To move between the registers, we simply go to items and we can see the others that we have associated to this camera. You can associate multiple registers to a single camera or a single register to multiple cameras. We simply select a different terminal and the data will populate.
Hyperlinked events on the right represent archives. So if I were to click on this discount, it's essentially telling our DVR to rewind to that moment in time. To get back to live, we simply click on the eyeball in the left hand corner. But that'll take us to live. We can select an archive with a specific date with the camera clock or the calendar control. Click on the calendar. I can select yesterday at 11am.
It'll take us right there. Now, to return to our controls, we click the back arrow. A good example of let's say that I want to go to 12:15. I click on the clock, hit 12. I could type in 15, but a quick way to do it is to hit the back button and this bar represents the hours. So if I wanted to go to 15 after, just drag until I see the 15 and there we go. Also, if I were to add another camera to this view, its default playback time will be live. If I wanted to have this synced with the existing camera, click on sync times and and it'll tell all the existing cameras in view to synchronize with this camera.
If you've used a VCR in the last 20 years or so, these should look pretty familiar. We have our pause, play, rewind, fast forward, and we can Fast forward up to 32x. To increase the rate of speed, simply click on it multiple times. To return to normal playback, hit the play button.
These buttons right Here represent skip 30 seconds forward and skip 30 seconds backward. Now, if you recall from our home screen, we have our available exports. So let me show you how to create an export.
To export video, we simply need a start time and an end time. When I click on set start, it will take the existing time and place it here. I can also hit set end if I wanted to maybe go to 30 minutes past, I can type it or I can fast forward a little bit and hit Set end Please keep in mind that exported video has limitation of 30 minutes. Want to have a start time and end time correct? Simply hit export.
And the server is working in the background and you can turn off your workstation or you can log out. It doesn't tie up your workstation to export video. When it's available, you'll see it on your home screen.
Once at the summary view you'll see a list of all the queries that have been made for this particular customer. You have the ability to make these queries yourself in the query builder which will be covered in a later chapter or we can help you make those queries. There are multiple ways to look at the queries. The easiest way to look at the queries is to look at a picture of this graph. This will graph out the last seven days. In this case we are looking at all the discounts that have happened in the last seven days. We can extend this data set by inputting a date or by hitting the drop down menu to show you the last 14 days in this case plus you will see any spikes. Once we click on one of these days it will open up and show us where those 535 results from that day. From here we can see the discount that was given the date and time, the terminal, the employee, the employee number, the revenue name, the revenue number, the check number and the amount of the discount.
To the left we can see a camera. This allows us to quickly verify that this discount was legitimate or not. Once we have looked at one of these transactions, the black flag will appear. This will allow us to see who's reviewed it and see what day they reviewed it and for how long it was reviewed. If we want this one to be reviewed further or want to let everybody else know that this is suspicious, we can set this to pending.
We can click on the flag and leave a note to please review. Once we've updated this.
This flag will change to red.
And if you remember on the home screen.
We had our pending reviews tile and now it's updated to 27. If we expand this we can now see.
We'Ve added this item right here that shows us Please review this video and by clicking it it will take us straight to the video that needs to be reviewed. Now to return to our original data center we close out this customer right here and now we're back to our original data center. Now if everyone's reviewed this clip and is okay with it, we can set it to close or to the green flag. So we'll click on the green flag. Leave a note.
Once we've done this now, anybody that logs into the system will. We'll see that the green flag has appeared.
The biggest bonus to having these flags is that we're not going to duplicate each other's work. For instance, if I were to come in and look at a discount for the day, and if you were to look at the discounts for today and you would see that I've already gone through, and you won't waste your time looking at the same things that I've already looked at today. If you don't have a camera associated to the video, you'll see a little picture of a check. This will give you the live data views that you would see if you had the camera. It allows you to see what happened just before the transaction took place. You also have the ability to look at the check summary. If you click on this right here, this will open up a check summary. This is very useful if you have a check that's open for a long period of time or maybe has access to different terminals throughout the revenue center.
The other way to look at this data is to click on the word. And if you just mouse over the word or the query you want to see, you'll see it says yesterday. This will take us to yesterday's data set. By default, the most recent events are on top. But if you used Excel in the past, this should look pretty familiar. All of this is sortable and searchable. If I wanted to sort by employee number, I simply click on the column and it'll sort either ascending or descending. In the upper right corner we'll see our aggregate button. This essentially means to group by. So here we're looking at 514discounts. It's a lot to go through. If I click on aggregate, it'll ask me what I'd like to group by. And a great one is employee. So again, all discounts grouped by employee. The more things we can render in visual form, the easier it is for an investigator to identify a pattern. All of our graphs are interactive. If I wanted to click on any one of these slices, econnect will now show me only discounts by that specific employee.
Now to go back to our previous pie chart, we see our results. Here the top 15 records are shown. A total of 20 employees that are shown. When we look at the results, we see that this employee had 14% of the discounts. Now this is 14% of the top 15. If we wanted to see how much this person really had in comparison to everybody on the property. We click right here to show proportional data. Now this will add everybody else that is included in this pie chart and will adjust the true percentage of what this person did for that day. Now it's only 13.2%. If we decided we want to see more results, we can take this bar and drag it to the right to see the results for up to the top 50. Consequently, if you wanted to see the bottom values, you can click on the bottom values and let's say you had hundreds of results. You see the top values and the bottom values. We can also export this into Excel by clicking here and and it will allow you to export all this information data to Excel. Let's say that we wanted to change our search click on this arrow. It's going to take us back to our aggregate tool and it'll allow us to select Revenue Center Terminal Select Revenue center. And now we have the different data set to look into.
This concludes Chapter one training video. Thank you for listening and good luck to you on your first assessment and we'll see you on Chapter two. Have a great day. It.
