I thought I'd come on here and go live for a moment. So I'll just come on here and see who turns up live. Or maybe we'll just watch some of this in the replay. All right, I'll give it a moment. If you're joining me live and you want to say in a chat somewhere where you're from, that's always good. I'm going to look and see if I can find me live here.
I think I'm coming to a few different places. Well, welcome everybody. Thank you for joining me either live now or in the replay.
I thought I'd come on. I have been on like about three or four Instagram lives today talking about grief and I didn't give Facebook or YouTube or Instagram any love. So I thought I'd come on and give a little love here. So thank you so much for being here. I see someone from Texas. I see someone from New Jersey. Yeah. If you want to put in the chat, if you're here live, where you're coming from. And I'm so grateful that you're joining us and coming on, I, you know, Instagram is so about being live, but you don't often see that. Oh, my gosh. Rochelle is here from Victoria, Australia, far away. So I'll tell you, I wanted to come on and talk a little bit about grief and I wanted to tell you what I've been doing in our little grief illiterate world, as you probably know, or I hope you know, but if not, you're going to tell you now. This is my new grief workbook that is coming out. And I hold it up because if you look online, you will find some AI copycats of it that aren't even real. They weren't written by me. You'll see other people's names and people have told me who accidentally got them that they weren't good. So that's why I wanted you to see which one is mine, the real one, what it looks like. So this is coming out in just a few days, Finding meaning. It's the workbook by David Kessler. And here's the thing. I wanted to do a workbook.
That really helped people. As if I'm sitting down with you at your kitchen table and we're talking about your grief. And I'm giving you some support, some insight, some help. You know, so many times we hear people talk about are you doing your grief work or you're working through your grief, but no one really, like tells us how to do that. I never got told how to do that. And so it's really wonderful to have this resource. I mean, these are the tools and the techniques that I've been using for years now to train therapists. And I wanted either therapists who didn't get enough grief education or coaches or helpers or people in grief to have these resources directly that they could use. And I'll tell you, I think it's really hard to pick up a book like this and any grief book, not just this book, and begin. So I gotta tell you, I have made it super easy. Number one, you don't have to have bought the original book, you can go straight to this. But I've like made it easy, like even checklists. And it's interesting, you know, sometimes. And this is a section called Timeline of Grief. I talk about how we can have judgment on our own grief. And I'm just going to tell you some of the things you can check. And just while you hear these, be listening. For which one is your belief? My grief hasn't hit me yet. Time will not change my pain. Grief is right on time. I should be over this grief by now. This grief is lasting too long. I'm stuck in grief. It's time to move on. I'm backsliding in grief. My grief is healing. My grief has become manageable. Grief is a part of me, but it doesn't define me. So many, so many different ways to think about it. And we. I have you do it again on the next page. Except this time I talk about where do you think you should be in your grief? And then I have again another place that says where does your family think you should be in your grief? So lots of different ways to think about this. So if you haven't gotten this and I'd love for you to pre order it and by the way, when we talk about books coming out, here's the truth of this. And the Amazon link is right there. Here's the truth of this.
Books are decided whether they're going to get into people's hands or in stores in the first two weeks by the pre orders. That's the reality of it. So you know, if any of you watching this now or in the replay think, oh, this might be a good book to maybe buy later on for a gift for my friend who's in grief or for some of my friends or my grief group.
Get it now, get it now, please.
Because this is the time when it counts and it's determined how far it's going to go. And you know, I don't care about it being in anything, but I care about it reaching people. And you know when it breaks my heart when I hear, oh, I looked for your book but it wasn't in my bookstore or they featured all these books online about grief but I didn't see yours. It's because that book in its pre order time didn't do well enough. So that's why I really appreciate it. And also the thing, it can be hard to start a book. So one of the things I'm going to be doing is anyone who preorders the book now, it comes out October 1st. I would love for you to preorder it now. Anyone who preorders the book now we are going to have a three part series that is three different weeks that you're going to be able to work and start the workbook with me. We can like actually all start it together. I think that'd be really cool and I think it would help so much. So, you know, when we talk about this, it's a, it's a hard road to go down. A hard road to go down alone. So if you think you might want to get the book and join that free class for anyone who pre orders it, you can get the book. And by the way, you can look, I think it's going to come up in a moment. You can go to griefbook.com and it's going to have an Amazon link there. It's going to have a Barnes and Noble link. It's going to have an independent bookstore link right below, I hope. And just know you could walk into your local bookstore and say I'd like to order it and I'd like to pay for it now. And you can join the class by doing that because I really want to get the word out and there are some amazing exercises in here that I think you're really going to like. You know, there's things on here. One of the things that I thought was fascinating and I wanted to do this is we often don't think about how shame shows up in our grief. So I have this little page here where you sort of talk about where you're private and where you're open for it to kind of maybe give you some insight into do you have some shame around your grief also to sort of, you know, what people have witnessed about your story, what they haven't, you know, some of you have done these exercises with me and Tender Hearts, our grief group or maybe in some of my other groups and but there's a lot here. No Matter how long you've been with me, there's things in here you've never seen. So I think it's really going to be interesting and helpful. And I tell you, I am here. And this is hard for me. I have had a long day and it's hard for me to talk about, please go buy my book. But I so believe in this. And I'm here on Facebook and LinkedIn and YouTube and I see the same comments you see of people who are so in grief and they can't afford a therapist or they need some help when they're alone in the middle of the night and they want to work through it. And this is a book that you could pick up this workbook and you could do a little quick checklist when you're feeling okay or when you're really in pain. You could dive into this. But I wanted to come on because I really, you know, this is my mission to help people in grief. And there's even people, you know, in my grief group. Someone came on tonight and said, if anyone can't afford this book, let us know and we'll get it. I mean, we're just on a mission to find a way. I'm on a mission to help people with their grief. You know, if you're dealing with grief and loss.
It'S probably one of the hardest times of your life. These are some of the hardest things you go through. And so I believe in getting support and I also believe we have such inner wisdom to do it. But sometimes we don't know where to begin. We don't know how to begin. We don't know what the grief.
Work looks like that we're supposed to do. And so these classes that I'm going to do, for anyone who pre orders, I'd love for you to come live, but if you can't come live, you could watch the recordings that are going to be there. And if you pre order it now, you're going to get it in just a couple of days it's going to be out. So I would love it no matter where you are, if you get the book, please join us in the class. And I'm sure it'll be a big class so you'll get to watch. If you, you know, have a grief group, you know, other people in grief, I'd appreciate it if you would tell them about the book. And it's just really, it's powerful. And I have so much in here on dealing with guilt because doesn't guilt come up a lot? And one of the other things that I put in here that I really love is. And by the way.
This is book talks about death, but if it's not the death of a person, maybe it's the death of a marriage. You can put that in there. If it's the death of betrayal or the death of assault or the death of feeling safe in the world or any kind of death. I was just doing a talk with my friend Dr. Ramany, who's a narcissist special we were talking about. Narcissism is the death of yourself when you're around a narcissist and you have to find yourself again. But one of the things that I put in here that I've always wanted to put in.
Was I've loved the hero's journey. Now, some of you may know what the hero's journey is. Some of you may not know what the hero's journey is. The hero's journey is in any like of the movies you've probably watched Star Wars, Hunger Games, the comic movies. All those are about the journey. I mean, think about it. Luke Skywalker's parents get killed. Batman's parents get killed. We are having a life, an okay life, a normal life. And then we're thrown into the dark underworld by grief, by the death of someone, by the horrible loss, right? That's what happens. We get thrown in there. And so here's the thing.
We go into that dark world and there's allies and there's enemies and there's the refusal of the call. I'm never going to be able to live through this grief. I don't want any help. I'm done with life. All those feelings we have in grief, I love the hero's journey. So I put the hero's journey in here. And then for people that's like, oh, that's the hero's journey. I wanted them to see it even a little more. So then I put a grief journey in there. I put Star wars in there so you would recognize it. And then I have a place for you to do your hero's journey. For you to do your hero's journey. Because here's the thing. I believe all of us are on our own heroes. Hero's journey. We're on our hero's journey. And so that's what I want you to really consider, that this is the most biggest thing you have to go through in your life.
And you know, even in my group online, Tender Hearts, I talk about.
This idea of we are courageous grievers. And I'll Tell you true courage is showing up for yourself. You know, you see people who are online that they're talking about finding the courage to do the ice bath and the plunge and this jump and that jump. I'll tell you, try to do the.
Living life after a narcissist jump. Try to do the.
Living again after a spouse dies, after a paradise, after a sibling dies, after betrayal, after a child dies. I mean, those of us who have to do those things, that's the true courage. You know, many of you know that I've lived through a shooting, my mother dying, my younger son dying, not to mention relationship issues and some abuse I've had. Whether it was physical abuse as a child or sexual abuse. I mean, we've all gone through our dark nights and yet I want to be hope for people. I want people to feel there is hope out there. And if you can't see that hope yet, I will hold it for you. I will hold it for you. And to be there with your hope when you're ready, you know, the death, the physical death of a loved one is permanent. The loss of our hope is temporary. I really hope you'll check this out. I hope you'll check out the, the free class. Let me put up the QR code if you want to check out the free class and the book. And you can see I've done a lot of labeling here and I've done a lot of work. I've been doing a lot of teaching on this and I would really love you to be a part of this class and participate in buying the book. And I so appreciate you doing this and it's so meaningful and I'm so honored that people who are getting previews of the classes and, and you know, feel really great about that.
