What are some activities I can do with my grieving friend? There's many positive things that you can do to help your friend who's in grief. There are times we need encouragement to get out and do activities. Coffee, movie, dinner. Important that we do those things. There's other times a person in grief just wants to lie low and so you may be willing to do that with them. Just quiet evenings at home. I think one of the most important things that we can do for our friends is not do tons of things right after the funeral. We kind of really gear up and want to so be there for them a week or a month after the loss. But it's really two months, three months, six months that you should make sure we're calling our friends, we're taking them out to dinner, we're including them in activities because that's when the loss has really settled in and they understand at a deeper level their loved one isn't coming back. That's when they're going to need your shoulder again. That's when they're going to need some activities to distract them.
