A short YouTube commentary (by Kyle Balmer) describing OpenAI’s announcement that ChatGPT will soon support creating interactive charts and tables directly in chat, with the ability to pull data from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. The presenter contrasts the timing with a similar Google demo, cites Sam Altman’s comment about competitors, and says the features will roll out to paid plans in the next couple of weeks; they plan to publish tutorials when they gain access.

You can now make charts and tables directly in chat. OpenAI have announced a new feature for ChatGPT. They're going to be adding the ability to create interactive charts and graphs directly in ChatGPT. And what's more, you can actually connect to your Google Drive or your Microsoft OneDrive directly, being able to pull data and information from there, get it into ChatGPT, ask questions and create charts right in ChatGPT. This might be a bit of a flex, because just after OpenAI's press conference, Google had their press conference and they showed something very much like this. So for OpenAI then to say, oh, yeah, we do that too, and to release this a day or two later is extremely cheeky. And it's especially funny because earlier in the week Sam Altman said that we don't really think about competitors. So, yeah, this is a bit of a flex and well done, OpenAI. We should be seeing these features roll out in the next couple of weeks for paid plans, which is good because people have been asking, why should we be paying for ChatGPT when the new model is coming to free users as well? Also the conversation and the video assistant. When I get these features, I'll do tutorials, so make sure to follow.
