What’s the most valuable skill in the AI revolution? Hint: it’s not coding or technical skills

Kyle Balmer argues that asking the right questions matters more than coding in the AI era. How well you prompt an AI determines what you get back, and that skill compounds with critical thinking and communication.

I want to know the most valuable skill in the AI revolution. It's not what you think. So right now, the most valuable skill is not technical, it's not coding. Instead, it's the skill of being able to ask the right questions. AI tools are getting to a point where they are sophisticated enough that their only limitation is really how good we are at talking to them. They're basically only as good as the prompts that we give them. The better your questions, the better instructions, the better your communication, the better the output we're going to get. So if you develop your ability to ask great questions and to communicate what exactly you want from the AI, you're going to be in a good position to do really well in the next few years. As a side bonus, these are just generally really helpful skills. They're going to help you with critical thinking, problem solving, being able to communicate your ideas to other people. They're fundamental skills to success. If you want to learn how to talk to AIs, then, well, I'm biased, but I would say my free newsletter is a good place to start. It's all about AI entrepreneurship and how to talk to an AI in order to start and grow businesses. Link in bio.
