Jam Anderson on the $1,400 Subscription Audit, Second Brains, and Money Moves

Jam Anderson used Claude to audit her subscriptions and found $1,400 in unused annual charges she cancelled immediately. She walks through her daily workflow: recording calls with Fathom AI, feeding transcripts to Claude, and generating proposals in minutes. Her advice for busy entrepreneurs: pick one AI platform, build consistent habits, and take a four-hour walk weekly to avoid burnout.

Hey, Jam Fam.
This is Flora, the Chief Happiness Officer at Club Jam and the host of The Human Side of AI. Today I'm sitting down with Jam Anderson for our monthly First Friday conversation. And Jam had a big month last month. She gave 6 presentations, traveled all over, and still found time to have Claude audit her business finances. What it found surprised both of us. More than $1,400 in forgotten subscriptions canceled in one afternoon.
Whoa.
We talk about what Club Jam members are buzzing about right now, including the second brain and how to stop losing your chats across devices. Jam shares the one workflow she uses every single day, her best advice if you're stretched too thin, and why she thinks people waste time trying every AI tool out there. Stick around to the end because Jam gives us a first look at Money Moves, the next sprint starting November 2nd.
And how it's all about finding your ideal clients and closing deals.
And whether you're already in ClubJam or curious about what we're building, this one's for you.
I promise.
Let's get into it.
Hello, Jam. How you doing today?
I'm great.
How are you doing?
Great. Happy to be here. And I can't believe it's already first of the month again.
I know. Look at us just showing up every month again and again.
I mean, I think that's worth giving us a little more credit. That's 3 months that we said, hey, we're gonna do this first Friday of the month, and we've pretty much nailing it.
Yeah, I remember last month I was like, oh my God, I don't know if I'll be able to get through the month, and I did.
You're done.
That's good. Yeah, feels good to be here in October.
Yeah, yeah. Um, just real quick, run us through what this last month looked like for you.
Oh my gosh. Well, personal life and work life, just lots of travel. I think I did 6 different presentations, 3 in person on a stage. So it was just tons of running around and dealing with logistics of kids and getting help for rides to dance and baseball and all the things. So it was like very logistics heavy, but really great to do all of the travel and speaking and met a lot of really nice people. The other cool things that we did this month, we in Club Jam and in the AI world, was explored some of these new AI tools that are, you know, very popular like GrokBot and Jarvis and getting deeper into Claude and Codex and ChatGPT. So that's been really fun too. So like in between my meetings, that's what I've been doing is just using all these different agents and trying to figure out which one is best for what task.
It's hard for me not to feel like a little nostalgic because how cool is it that, you know, you just, you started ClubJam like not that long ago and then here you are just being like, I did 6 webinars and just in one month. That's just, it's so cool.
Aw, thanks.
Yeah. So what is one thing that AI did for you this month that surprised you?
Um, okay, well, can I talk about what I did yesterday? So, uh, of course you can. My husband was like, hey, at some point you should see if like you're making any money because you're working a lot. And I was like, yeah, I probably should. So I used Claude, I created an artifact, a private artifact, make sure it's private if you do this, and I uploaded bank statements that had redacted account numbers on 'em, just FYI. And I had it like go through this year, like year to date where I'm at. And then the cool part, so the answer is I'm not making as much money as I'd like to because I've definitely done better with revenue and like we have more clients than ever. I've just been doing more speaking, more consulting. But at the same time, I've also been trying a lot of stuff and I've been hiring people to help work on projects. And basically I'm kind of like very generous, it turns out. Claude said I was a little too generous with my contractors. Anyways, it's all good. But the interesting part where Claude really yelled at me was my subscriptions. And so Wow. It, I was spending, uh, it's like embarrassing to say, I was spending around $2,000 a month on subscriptions that I don't use.
Whoa. Damn.
I know. But, um, here's the thing. It's not the same every month, but I think I used to sign up for annual stuff and it's kind of always around this time of year apparently. And so, um, actually it was in August. In August it was that high, which is my highest month. And it saw I had all these annual subscriptions. And then I was like, well, maybe it'll happen again because I only uploaded 7 months. So Claude was really cool and went into all of my accounts, all of my email accounts, reviewed everything I've ever signed up for, and we canceled over $1,400 of random stuff that I would have paid for in the next 2 months because a lot of them were annual. But it was like, make.com. Remember we used to use that all the time? I still had an email service that I wasn't using, something called IFFTT that I tried 2 times and forgot. So I think it's an interesting thing to do and really useful. So if anyone's listening, have it review all your subscriptions, but don't cancel your ClubJam subscription or else you won't learn things like this.
Yeah, of course. And you said private artifact, redacted information.
Yeah, my bank statements already take my account number off, but just in case yours don't, like, make sure that that's off. But it does a really great financial audit. And then it also, like, between that and having access to your email, like, that's where it can really come in and just crush your Subscriptions and all of that.
No, that's a big, big, big game changer right there. Yeah, I can see why that surprised you. Yeah. Okay. For a while we were struggling with like, what are we, right? Like, what do we do? How do you— what's our elevator pitch? So for anyone listening who hasn't found us yet, how would you describe ClubJam?
So we teach you how to train your AI to learn about you. We focus on AI and marketing, and we work with small business owners, coaches, consultants, and professionals. And we break things down and make AI really easy to understand and to adapt.
Love that. What kind of person thrives in our community?
The person who has too many things going on and thinks they don't have time for a community, but they know they need to use AI. I think Uh, some people kind of— it's interesting because people use our community in 2 different ways. We have the people who are super active. They want to be on every live call. They're posting a bunch, um, and they get a ton out of their community.
Yeah.
But I've also been messaging with people who are in the community who never join live calls, and they're just like reading the digest that goes to their email once a week, and they log in and download the skills or the prompts or the tips that we provide, and they like it just as much. So it's totally a personality thing, and everyone who's in there who's either lurking or very, um, a very big part of everything, they both get things out of it.
I— and I mean, you nailed it. And I, I love seeing both types of people get what they need from it. And you don't have to be, you know, you don't have to be one or the other. So super cool.
Yeah.
Um, what are, what are our members talking about the most right now?
They're talking about how they can't find their chats and how to fix it. Everybody's in ChatGPT, Claude, their desktop, their laptop, their web version, their desktop version. Like, people are feeling very messy because they are on the go doing whatever. So this whole thing of this second brain has been a big topic, which is basically just like every time you have a chat, You send that chat to a specific place, whether it's Google Drive or Notion or Obsidian.
Oh, wow.
But it's somewhere where like you can sync your information of what you're building across devices and across large language models. So that's been a hot topic recently. Wow.
Very cool.
Yeah.
All right. We are officially in Q4. And a lot of small business owners are heading into their busiest season. Where, you know, where should they learn AI first? What should they learn with their AI first?
They should learn which platform they want to use and just stick with that one. Okay. I was actually getting my son set up with AI over the weekend. And so it was interesting to like, work inside these platforms, and I had to choose for him ChatGPT or Claude.
Oh, wow.
Um, it was kind of cool to see why I made that decision. I ended up with Claude. Uh, it gatekeeps a lot less at the lower price is kind of why I wanted to do it. Um, but I think people waste a lot of time trying all the different large language models, and like, no matter what you pick, just pick the one And use it every day and start creating habits around it. So that would be my one piece of advice to get started for sure.
And how do you do that with, how do you do that and keep your kids safe?
Oh, give him access to it?
Yeah.
Uh, so he specifically is creating would you rather YouTubes. So once he's in, he has a skill creator that I made for him. And so he literally only can use that skill just for what his purpose right now. So he's creating videos.
I love that. It runs in your family.
It does.
Walk us through one workflow that someone could set up this week, whether they're brand new or using AI daily.
Ooh, one workflow. That's tough. I think, I think a really one I use every single day is using Claude connectors. So I connect Fathom AI, which you can see is recording our call right now. So every time I have a meeting, my Fathom is recording the transcript, it records the video of our call, and when I'm done, I can go to Claude and I can say, hey, you know, and this is based on the conversation, but hey, I want you to review the transcript. I just had a call with Flora and I want to create a proposal for consulting for her. Based on the package tier 3. And then it will just go and like read our conversation and create a custom proposal for her in just about 2 minutes. Another way to use it is just sometimes I have calls just getting to know each other, maybe it's for speaking, and I can have it just send me the overview of the call in an email or send it to the other person. So just something similar.
Jim, I have caught myself catching some— having some sort of anxiety when, for whatever reason, like, just a meeting doesn't get recorded. Like, I, I don't trust my hand-taking notes skills anymore. Like, I, I really need that transcript to provide my follow-ups, and when I don't have them, I'm— I mean, it's Bad News Bears. I just—
I haven't. I have 2 backups. Like I have, it's crazy. I have Granola backing me up. I have Rewind backing me up. Like I feel the same way. It's when people say like, oh, no recorders. And like, yeah, maybe that you can see right now, but I will always use a recorder.
You're like, okay.
But it also helps me be present. Like I can be present with people and like ask questions because I'm not over here with my pen and pencil. Writing notes that I can't read after the meeting anyway.
Well, and it, and it makes me like, I'm confident that I'm not going to drop the ball. Yeah. Because I have this immediate to-do list that's just right in front of me. Um, okay. What do people get wrong when they're overwhelmed and grab AI as a quick fix? Where do you see people like getting that wrong?
Yeah. So AI can create a lot more work for people because once you ask it to do the thing, it suggests like 3 other things to do, and maybe you just needed that one thing done. And so I think people need to be really aware when they're using it that this is also a company who wants you to spend your tokens and buy more.
Yeah.
And so even though it has a really good idea that maybe You should follow up with. Make sure you're checking the box and like going on a walk and stuff because I even find myself like yesterday I was like, oh my gosh, being too productive. Like there's too many things I need to not not be by a computer for four hours. Like go outside. So just make sure you're doing that. Yeah.
La la. Um bum ba da da da.
Um do do do do do do do do.
I have so many great questions.
Actually, let's dig into that one a little bit more about the 4 hours away and going for a walk, 'cause we talk about that a lot actually.
Yeah.
And so where, where do you draw the line between like using AI to be productive and just, you know, doing things yourself and making sure that you're not using AI just to produce stuff? Like, talk to us a little bit about that.
Well, from a work perspective, I'm always using AI and I always will from now on because it does a better job than me. Like, that's just what it is. I, I was able to set up an entire Shopify e-commerce store and brand in like 2 days and it looks awesome. Without AI, that would have taken me probably 3 months to do. Yeah. Um, but I think it's that level of you can be uber productive, you can make more money, you can do all that stuff, but you need to prioritize your physical and mental health too. So I think it's super important. Like, I always prioritize a workout. I'll always make sure I'm, you know, checking out from 2:30 to 5 for the most part. Um, so yeah, just give yourself boundaries and rules or else you can get really sucked in. I've seen it. I bet.
Well, and you've done it too.
I've done it.
Yeah.
Um, okay.
I wanna really start digging into, um, what's happening in Club Jam right now, but because there's a lot, but before we do that, I have a little bit of a lightning round. Are you ready?
Yeah, let's go.
One prompt you use every week.
Ooh, prompt. I'm gonna switch to skill, and it's my executive assistant. I use it every morning.
Beautiful. Favorite tool right now?
Jarvis.
Oh, tell us more.
Jarvis is an operating system that I put on top of Claude and ChatGPT, and mostly I like it right now because the guy has a really nice English accent. He's like fun to talk to and makes jokes. I'm also like just figuring this stuff out and I feel like there's a lot it can do and I'm just digging in right now. I will share more soon with everyone.
Okay. Okay.
Okay.
Best advice for someone stretched thin?
Best advice for someone stretched thin. Take 1 hour to get your system set up with Claude. And understand what you're doing and put on noise-canceling headphones and like just focus on setting that up and nothing else. And then start delegating your tasks. Cool, cool, cool, cool.
One word for 2026 so far?
Agent.
Love it. All right, tell us what's happening in Club Jam. What can we expect in, in This October.
Yeah, so there's a lot happening. We're bringing in our guests again. We took like a summer break. So actually today we have Keisha Mabry doing the AI delegation lab. And then I don't have the date set, but early October I'm bringing in a Grok bot expert as well.
Well, hold on. So on Friday, if you miss Keisha's, find it in the—
In the classroom.
And okay.
Yeah. So we have experts coming in again, which will be fun.
Yeah.
Um, I'm doing my Build with Jams on Thursday, and so I will ask you guys what is a hot topic, you guys vote, and then I do a presentation and training on that thing.
Super cool.
Couple things that are new, we reorganized the live training in the classroom. It was really hard to find stuff, so now it's reorganized by date.
Love that.
So you should be able to find it. Um, in other news, our free trial is currently turned off. What I saw is like, as I'm doing all these events, people are just kind of jumping in, looking, taking, and leaving. And it's not fair to me who this is my full-time job and like just feels bad for people to do that. But also for you because people are putting in a lot to be in this community. Like there's friendships. I saw on our call last Friday, 2 people had a work call after they're like doing a project together.
Awesome.
Um, 2 people had to see if they were long-lost relatives. Like people are really interested in getting to know each other. And so I just wanted to remove that. That's not to say it won't turn back on for like marketing initiatives, maybe a week or 2 here or there. But, um, it's, it's not gonna be on long-term again.
Yeah, no, I think, I think, you know, and you recently shared a newsletter and I wrote you back and I was like, I love this newsletter because We want the right people in here and it's, you know, sure, it's nice to see numbers climb, but like we want the right people in here and I think, I think it's a great decision.
Yeah. Um, and talk to us a little bit about Money Moves. Yeah. So Money Moves is going to be our next sprint. We start November 2nd and it's going to be based lightly on Alex Hormozi's books, $100 Million Leads, $100 Million Offers. But Q4 is really busy and going into Q1, people always want to start off with a big boom.
Yeah.
And since we've spent so much time on the marketing and what is our offer and who is our audience, this will be more around how to get to your ideal client prospect and then how to actually close deals. We're going to go through vibe prospecting. We're going to create scripts for calling. I'm going to show you how you can actually have AI do calling if you want. Even though I don't recommend it, but it's like cool to know about. Um, texting, stuff like that. So it should be really cool. And, uh, I was gonna do, I'll post in the community and get feedback, but I was gonna do a prize to see, um, at the end who gets the highest closed ticket, or maybe it'll be more like who closes a client first based on, whoa. So we'll see, but I was gonna do a a little competition with a, with a cash prize.
I love that. I love that. So if this conversation lands for you and you're interested in learning more and you're not in Club Jam yet, where, where do you find us?
So you just go to jamout.ai and we have links to Club Jam all over the place and you can check us out there.
Awesome. And for members that are already in Club Jam, we want you to bring your Q4 questions to the community. And we want to hear what you're working on. So something that I'm working on and I'm feeling pretty hopeful about is I think we're going to get close to 10,000. I think we're going to get 10,000 listeners on the podcast by the end of this year. So we'll— I'll keep you posted.
That's so exciting. You've done such a good job. Wait, I want to ask you one question.
Oh, oh, this is not how this goes.
I know, I know. I know that you— so you've been open that you use AI, but it's not like your main thing. Like, you're in charge of the community happiness, which I like. So what's one thing that AI has done for you this week that's been surprising?
I mean, it's kind of funny. Like, as much as I'm like, oh, I don't know AI, I'm around AI experts all the time, right? And I guess some of it has been, you know, through osmosis because I, I recognize that I am able to be a lot more efficient with a number of tasks, a number of things because of my ability to use AI kind of naturally. Right. And so when I use AI, when I think of using AI in my head, it's still like a very manual process. It's very much like a conversation with AI. And, and I, you know, I don't I do the copy paste into my inbox. I like, I, I still do it very manually, I would say. But if I'm being honest, like, I probably know how to use AI more than most people.
You do. I'm glad to hear you say it. That's good. All right. Well, I'm excited to see you in real life next week, Flora.
Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. I know. And I told Jam to just like surprise me with what we're doing. So.
Yeah, should be fun.
We'll see. I know it's gonna be fun no matter what.
All right.
Enjoy your walk for the day. Thank you so much for everything, and I'll see you in the community.
See you soon.
Bye.
