Genetic diversity matters more than perfection. Today's ideal traits become tomorrow's liabilities as environments and cultures shift. A high school jock thrives now but may struggle later while the brainiac rises, and the same logic applies to human genetics.

The absolute single key to our species surviving during changing times is have as much variation in our gene pool as possible. What is the most well-adapted now might be the least well-adapted in 100 years. And there's a whole new set of rules that we're playing by, some of it being from a natural environmental change, but also from a cultural environmental change. I know we have this idea we need to be producing in every single child the absolute strongest, most resilient, based on our modern ideas of what health and diet and physique and all of the look like. And yes, I think that's very important, but also from a biological evolutionary sense, the variation in the gene pool that are produced from diversity in our world is absolutely essential to our survival as we move forward.
It makes me think of like a high school where the jock might be the most popular in that environment. 20 years later, they're now the least popular and it's the brainiac who's now popular.
