Welcome to One to One with James Laughlin. I'm a former world champion and now I work with and coach professional athletes, entrepreneurs and CEOs of billion dollar companies. I'm going to share with you in this episode some of the insights and strategies, some of the tools that I use with my clients. Every week I'll bring you an insight, an action or a tool that will help you go from great to greatest. My mission is to cut through the noise and help you, give you the tools to truly transform your mindset and help you to take the right actions towards your desired outcome. So let's dive in. Well, my book today is now on shelves all around Australia and New Zealand and it's in every good bookstore you could imagine. I want to say a huge thank you to every single one of you who has already bought the book. For those that pre ordered it, I deeply appreciate you. Everyone else that hasn't got it, please go and get it this week. Go into your local bookstore, get onto your online and order it from Wickcl's Paper plus Amazon. Wherever you order your books from, please go and order Habits of High Performers. I have to say, it's exciting to get it out there and there's a sense of relief of getting it out there. There's been years of work in this, there's been calibrating and recalibrating. I've poured everything into this in the hopes that it will get into your hands and you will use it in your life, your business, your health, your relationships, your wealth. Because the habits of high performers, I'm just holding it up for those that are watching, for those that are on audio, it's bright orange. You'll not miss it. But the habits of high performers transcend every part of our lives, transcend every culture, every industry, every age and stage. They are timeless truths. And I want to say something bold but honest with you that what separates high performers from everyone else, it's not hustle, it's not luck, it's habits. It's the habits that separate them. I've had the great fortune of coaching and working with and interviewing some of the top performers on the planet in sport, business, politics, life, health, science. And I go deep and understand what is it that makes them tick. In this book, there's seven habits of high performers. You're going to learn those, you're going to be able to implement those. And in fact, if you get the book, there's an incredible resource that comes with it. You'll only get access if you buy the book. That resource alone is worth about $2,000. So if you buy the book, I promise you, you're going to get way more than you bargained for. Deeply, deeply grateful for the people that endorsed it. I'll just read a couple that are on the front cover here. Sir John Key, a dear friend and mentor, also our former Prime Minister of New Zealand, says, for anyone who wants to gain that high performance edge, get the book. Robin Sharma, dear friend and Mentor, number one worldwide best selling author of the 5am Club and the monk who Sold His Ferrari. He says it's a powerful work that decodes how the very best do it. And look, you don't need to be born with any special skills to be a high performer. High performance is not a birthright, it's a habit. And in here I want to help you in any area of your life. I'm just, yeah. So excited for it to get into hands. If you've got it, please let me know. Take a photo, tag me on socials, let me know how it's impacting your life, what you're doing, what you're using, what's working, what's not working. I would absolutely love that. Please don't be a stranger. Don't keep it to yourself. Share your experiences with me. As I say, put it on socials, tag me, let your friends know about the book. You know, I didn't write the book for it to sit on shelves. I wrote the book in the hopes that it would make its way into your amazing hands and your community and your people. Because I believe that the tools, the frameworks and the seven habits in the book are really going to help shift and shape your life in the future. And in the book, there's lots of stories I share, lots of personal stories from clients, friends, people I've interviewed, ranging again from all different industries. But it's been such a huge journey and I think when we do anything like this, it's important to recognize it's not an individual journey. Yes, my name's on the book. However, there's been so many incredible people that have helped me bring it together. I couldn't imagine self publishing. Hats off to everyone that does that, but publishing with a team like HarperCollins, wow, what an amazing experience that has been. They're one of the biggest publishers on the planet. Having them critique it, edit it, reshape it, give me feedback, develop it. It's been phenomenal. Having the support and love of my partner Caroline, and the support and good humor from my son Finn. It's Just been phenomenal. You know, I've had many other people really contribute to the book in the form of endorsements. You know, my friend Jim, who is the CEO of Seven Eleven, friend Scott, who runs Live Golf, Liv, he runs Liv Golf, used to run Madison Square Garden. Jason Stacey, who's Irina Sabalenka's coach at. Getting these endorsements from these incredible people means the absolute world. The one that really means a lot is Dr. Aliya Bushalova. She's a former SAS psychologist, lead psychologist for the SAS, and she gave it an incredible endorsement that meant a lot because she understands how humans work, the brain works and how habits work. So to get her tick of approval meant a lot. On the back of the book, she wrote here a set of of timeless truths for clarity and authentic fulfillment. Sir Wayne Smith, for those that are into rugby, former assistant coach to the All Blacks and head coach of the Black Ferns, said habits of high performers is a roadmap to excellence. Just, yeah, very humbled by these incredible humans who I look up to giving the book such kudos. So look, the only true test is you, the reader, getting it, reading it, implementing it and giving me the feedback. That's truly what I'm excited for and waiting for. So I didn't really plan to spend this entire solo cast talking about the book, but I'm just so excited that it's here, it's on shelves, you'll see it everywhere. Look out for it in magazines and newspapers. We do a lot of interviews recently. If you'd like me to come and speak to you, your team, your audience around habits of high performers, how to navigate change, how to ignite people, people in terms of motivation and influencing others. Then just reach out to the team. You can reach out to carolinejlochlin.com you can reach out to me. You can see me on socials or LinkedIn. But I just want to share a couple of the habits for you. It's a couple of takeaways. In fact, I'll go into some of the principles. They're little micro chunks of the habits. So number one, discipline the inner domain to dominate the outer domain. I call that doing the work. You've got to discipline what your mind is doing, what you're saying to yourself. That self talk, it's the seed of self mastery. So start working on within. Stop focusing on the AI and the tools and the gadgets and the co pilots and the. That's all very helpful. However, discipline your inner domain if you want to dominate the outer domain. If you don't make time for health, you'd better make time for sickness is another one of the key principles. I need that principle because sometimes, like you, I get very focused on my work and go full noise. But it's important to have tools that help us to stay in the game long enough, because the people who are at the top of the pops, they stay in the game long enough to outperform others. One last principle. Goats focus on their strengths. That's right, the greatest of all time. They don't worry about their weaknesses, they're aware of them, but they don't fanaticize over them and spend hours and weeks and months. They delegate them. They're aware of them, but they double down on what they're great at. Please. If there's one thing you do, please double down on what you are great at. The world is relying on you to show up and be the full version of you. Nobody else, just you. Be the high performer. And just know that if you embrace the right habits, these seven habits, I promise you, you're going to see incredible outcomes and in your life, your work, your teams, your business. So enjoy it. If you go to the habitbook.com that's thehabitbook.com you'll be able to order it from there. We've got lots of the retailers listed there. Alternatively, rock on in to your local retailer and support them. I really appreciate you doing that. We need to support our local businesses and if you're over in Aussie, Amazon.com au how you do has lots of stock at all the airport stores, you'll find them as well. So, guys, thank you so much. I deeply appreciate you. This is a big milestone for me personally and I'm just going off to enjoy a celebratory meal with my family. But please, for now, get out there and lead your life on purpose.
