How much time do you invest in your brain? Well, look, our brain dictates so many things. It's our largest asset.
We've got to look after it, right?
But often we're putting things on our.
Skin and we're doing all these other things that care for our bodies, but.
Our brain dictates so much. I came across a product a while ago called Flow State and it's made such a difference. And look, they offer functional mushrooms that sharpen cognition, they really boost energy and definitely strengthen immunity. And they actually use one of their key ingredients is lion's mane.
Right?
So Lion's mane is popular among really.
Peak performing athletes and those wanting an edge. It's known as the brain mushroom and.
It'S currently being studied extensively for its nerve growth factor potential as a means to ease the symptoms of Alzheimer's and for treating inflammation in the body.
The thing I love about these products.
They don't taste like mushrooms. You can mix them in with your.
Tea, they're a great replacement for coffee.
But I actually love the PM mushroom blend, the evening one. It really helps me sleep and to.
Know that my brain is getting extra.
Nutrients is just next level. The one thing that's really important for me is hey, what' in there? So they have tested heavily at Hill Laboratories for heavy metals, pesticide residue, microbials, and also at Massey University for active compounds. So I urge you, if you love your brain and you want to go the extra mile to nurture it, head on over to Flowstate NZ and you can use the coupon code leadonpurpose to get 15% off.
Well, it's that time when we take a moment just to reflect on our most recent guest. And I'm just going to recap some of the gold that Dean Carnazes shared with us. So Dean is an American ultramarathon runner, the original, the OG of ultramarathon running. And yes, he talked a lot about running and endurance, but it applies so deeply to business, to life and sport. He's the author of Ultra Marathon man and more recently a runner's high. He has completed a number of incredible endurance events, ran 350 miles in 80 hours without sleep, completed the relay, a 199 mile run from Calistoga, I think that's how you say it, to Santa Cruz. 11 times. He's run a marathon to the South Pole without snowshoes. Run a marathon in each of the 50 states in 50 consecutive days. How amazing is that? Look, we went deep on what it takes to be an ultra high performer in life and in business. And I'm going to share just some of the gems he shared. So many. It was, it was incredible. So I definitely encourage you to go back and check it out.
But first up, Dean said a leader.
Is someone who sets a good example.
Leading to me, you know, when I think of what he just said, it's not hypothesizing, it's not theorizing, it's not a Harvard Business School study. It's none of that. It's. It's leading by example. It's getting out there. It's getting in to the field of work and doing it and leading from the front. A leader leads. And if you're at the lead of a pack, you're in front. Right? So a leader is someone who sets a good example. So what are you doing today to set a good example for someone? Is that someone that reports to you? Is that maybe a family member? What are you doing to set a good example? What's one area of your life today that you know you can set a good example in? Is it by making your bed? Is it by taking the trash out? Is it by leaving your door open at work so people know they can come in and just connect with you? My challenge that I'm going to set you is what can you do today or even this week that allows you to set a good example for others and be a leader?
So another great takeaway from Dean was this. If you stick to something and give it your all, great things happen. If you stick to Something in particular and really go for it. Great things come from it. Look, I can certainly relate to that. You know, back in my younger years, drumming, I started drumming and I really stuck to it. And I was doing three, four, five hours a day. I'd be drumming all weekend, maybe 20 hours on a weekend, and I really stuck to it. And, you know, just Shortly after my 13th birthday, I won the World Solo Drumming Championships. And I really don't say that to impress you, but to impress upon you that I really stuck to something. And in the end, something that I wanted so badly came from all of that persistence. So what is that thing for you? What's the thing that you need to stick to? Is it your marriage? Is it a good habit? Is it your leadership responsibility? Is it your commitment to learning each and every day by listening to a podcast, by reading a book? What's the thing that you will do and stick to? And you will learn and grow and in the end, something great will come from that.
Another great takeaway. Very simple. You are the sum of your habits. What you do every day builds you into who you are. I'm going to repeat that. Please write that one down. Share that with someone. You are the sum of your habits. What you do every day builds you into who you are. What are your habits? Do you have any? You can't say no, of course you have habits.
I've got habits.
I get up at a certain time. I go to bed at a certain time. I eat a certain thing for breakfast. I take a certain micronutrient supplement. I read certain specific books. I enjoy listening to podcasts at specific times in my week. I take notes and highlight books. I.
Take shortcuts in life in certain places. I've got habits that are good. I've got habits that are bad. And I've got habits that are totally indifferent. But essentially all of my habits are leading up to creating the future me. So whatever you're doing now, it's front loading and preloading who you're going to become tomorrow. And by tomorrow, I mean in the next year, the next five years, the next 10 years. What you do today creates who you are tomorrow. Here's a really great takeaway. The only excuse is you. So interesting. When I'm working with my one to one clients, whether they're really focused on business metrics or life or relationships, I'll often ask them, okay, it sounds like you're now clear on where you want to go. What might stop you? Look, the vast majority of them will respond with this myself they firmly believe that they are their own greatest obstacle. Aren't we all?
So what can you do to remove yourself as the excuse? What can you do to remove the obstacle which is you to me, that's one of the greatest things you could think about this week and maybe journal on that. How can I remove the obstacle of me.
Now? Last takeaway. A really important one is this and I'd like you to take this into your relationships today. Dean said nobody wants their last thought to be I wish I would have laughed more.
Right?
We all love laughing. It's great. So what are you doing today to laugh? Who could you laugh with? What's something you could watch that would make you laugh? Right? I want you to take a moment to see if there's some laughter that could be brought to your life today. See the joy where others don't. But for now folks, get out there and lead your life on purpose.
