How much time do you invest in your brain? Well, look, our brain dictates so many things. It's our largest asset. We've got to look after it, right? But often we're putting things on our skin and we're doing all these other things that care for our bodies, but our brain dictates so much. I came across a product a while ago called Flow State and it's made such a difference. And look, they offer functional mushrooms that sharpen cognition, they really boost energy and definitely strengthen immunity. And they actually use one of their key ingredients is lion's mane. Right? So Lion's mane is popular among really peak performing athletes and those wanting an edge. It's known as the brain mushroom and it's currently being studied extensively for its nerve growth factor potential as a means to ease the symptoms of Alzheimer's and for treating inflammation in the body. The thing I love about these products, they don't taste like mushrooms. You can mix them in with your tea, they're a great replacement for coffee. But I actually love the PM mushroom blend, the evening one. It really helps me sleep and to know that my brain is getting extra nutrients is just next level. The one thing that's really important for me is, hey, what's in there? So they have tested heavily at Hill Laboratories for heavy metals, pesticide residue, microbials, and also at Massey University for active compounds. So I urge you, if you love your brain and you want to go the extra mile to nurture it, head on over to Flowstate NZ and you can use the coupon code LEADONPURPOSE to get 15% off.
Do you want to know the number one way to eliminate distraction? Well, our last guest was none other than Catherine Fantausi, and she shared some incredible insights. I'm going to just share some of the recaps for you right right now. Katherine is the co founder and CEO of Apollo Neuroscience. Apollo Neuroscience has developed the first scientifically validated wearable technology that actively improves energy, focus and sleep. Now, do you want more energy? I certainly know I do. Do you want to be able to focus better? Well, in this age of digital distraction, that's the difference that will make the difference for you in your life, in your leadership, in your career, in your relationships. And would you like to enhance your sleep? Well, look, all the people I've interviewed, one that stands out was George Russell's coach. So George Russell, the Formula one driver, has a coach and he said the number one thing they measure in terms of George's performance is his sleep. So what I'm going to share with you today from Katherine Fantausi is going to help you level up your sleep. Now, look, this device that was originally invented by a team of physicians and neuroscientists at the University of Pittsburgh uses a novel touch therapy that signals safety to the brain. It accelerates stress recovery and supports mental and physical resilience. So I'm going to share a few recaps. But the Apollo Neuro is a wearable. I've been wearing it probably since September, so several months. And the differences in how I step up into, say, when I'm on a stage and there's a lot of pressure or when I'm doing a major interview where there might be a lot at stake. This wearable has been incredible at just maintaining that meditative state, that relaxed calm. It's also been amazing to really get me settled into a sleep mode in the evenings. And I've also used it to gently wake me up in the morning rather than my abrupt alarm that I had before. So, look, if you'd like to go and check it out, I'd also like to offer you 10% off the Apollo wearable when you go to ApolloNeuro.com that's a P O L L O N e u r o apolloneuro.com just use the code leadonpurpose for 10% off that wearable. So a few recaps from Catherine. Stress is strain, but she said stress isn't all bad. For example, exercise is a stressor to your body, but it's good stress. It's what we called eustress learning is a good stress as well. Distress is when the stress is no longer beneficial. This tends to happen when you're depleted and no longer resilient. The challenge is when you experience distress over and over and you now start heading into chronic stress. Another thing that Katherine shared is when someone is overwhelmed by frequently it is harder for them to learn new skills and techniques. That is why when people are stressed they can't begin to learn new skills. For example, you know a lot of people want to learn meditation. Look, when you're stressed it's the worst time you can imagine to learn meditation. You simply your body and your mind won't be in a place to actually learn that. So if you want to learn new skills, do so when you're in a much less stressed environment, you stress rather than distress. And look, this Apollo Neuro, this, this device, it gets you in a state of rest and it allows you to respond from there. I find it really useful, you know, just getting started in the day. It enhances and increases your energy but then also throughout the day it just brings the anxiety levels down. Look, we all experience anxiety, right? Not one of us can say we don't. So they found that with the Apollo that when non meditators wore the watch and did meditation, they caught up in brainwave states to the meditators within 10 minutes. You know, so just putting that watch on instead of actually meditating, it caught them up to what a meditator did in 10 minutes. Quite incredible, right? That's really impressive when you think about how long you need to meditate for in order for it to be effective in your life. This Apollo Neuro allows you to get the same outcome without actually sitting and doing the meditation. And here's something really important. Your body doesn't know the difference between mental and physical stress. It feels the stress equally. So really important for you to think about, okay, Whatever's going around on around me, whether it's actually physical stress or mental stress, my brain and body doesn't know the difference. Another stat that, that Catherine shared was when using Apollo frequently over three months, you gain the same benefits as what you would gain from three months of meditation practice. How incredible is that? And it just goes on in the background. You wear it, you don't even know what's going on. In fact what I've been doing is I've just been setting it up on a pre timer so it goes off intermittently throughout the day. It wakes me up gently it stimulates me and gets me going during the middle of the day. You know that 2 or 3pm where there's a bit of fog and tiredness, stimulates me through there. And then about 8pm it starts to trigger that sleep inducing response. So it really keys me down for sleep. It's really great. Another big takeaway with the way the world has gone. We are so easily distracted now. I've shared some distraction statistics with you in the past, but look, we're doing more and more business via Zoom and we have to protect ourselves from distraction when we're doing this. We're learning courses online, we're listening to podcasts. We really, when we're trying to learn and level up, we have to learn how to protect ourselves from this distraction. We need to turn our phones on flight mode, our laptops on flight mode, turn our Slack notifications off just to protect ourselves from being interrupted. And look, it's quite exhausting and it increases that risk of distraction when we are not being active around protecting that energy. So what do you do? Just think for a moment. What do you do right now to protect your focus? Or do you not? Are you constantly in a state of response and reactivity?
Your attention is your number one most important resource. We have an attention deficit pandemic going on in this world. If you are able to hone and improve your focus, you're going to rise to the top. You're going to rise to the top in your relationships, you're going to rise to the top in your career. You're going to rise to the top in your sense of fulfillment and joy simply by honing your focus. So what are you going to do to enhance that focus? I do a few things. One, I journal in the morning and set my intentions for the day. I'm very clear about what I'm going to set out to do. Two, I wear the Apollo Neuro, which really gets me refocused when I'm starting to become distracted. And three, I wrap a little plan around my app usage so I have limits on certain apps, particularly social media apps. Now look, the last thing I want to leave you with is in order to feel calmer, you need safety in the body. Your amygdala needs to be to be relaxed, needs to be reminded that everything is okay, you're not in danger. So it's really important that we learn how to tone that thing down, get that amygdala to go, hey, I'm safe. And we can do this through this touch therapy that the Apollo Neuro has. Look, I'm a big believer in research and data. I won't buy things unless I know they've been deeply researched correctly. This Apollo Neuro, the science behind it is incredible. So I'd highly recommend you go and get one and test it for yourself. Wear it every day, set it up to go off multiple times a day and just experience the benefits that I have. And as I said, you can get a 10% discount on that wearable. Using lead on purpose as the code, you Simply go to ApolloNeuro.com Apollo N E U R O Now, I don't endorse too many products simply because there's not a lot of products I actually truly believe in. This is one I wear. When you see me speaking on stages, you look at my, usually my left arm. I wear it. You'll see on my wrist, you'll see that. Apollo Neuro, I love it. Great. It's a product that really has helped me to manage my energy, my focus, and really help me get better sleep. So I hope it does the same for you. And I'm looking forward to introducing our next guest on our next episode. I know you're going to be really excited to hear them, but for now, please get out there and lead your life on purpose.
Sam.
