I would love to see you there. Now, in our last show episode we had the amazing Laurie Studbrink on and she formed the GRIT Leadership Training program and she's ran that with the United states Navy, Fortune 5, hundreds and tons of small businesses. So I wanted to share some of the key recaps for you on that. And the whole idea about the GRIT model is that it's about getting to your goals without causing collateral damage, you know, in the form of relationships, health, finance. We want to get the great outcomes, but wouldn't it be great to get there without all the collateral that comes with sometimes operating at that high level? It's about sustainable grit. Traditional models of grit are about win at all costs, do what you got to do to get it done. But this model is kind of Grit plus. So it's all about considering everything that's important, you know, versus being laser focused. So when we're laser focused on one thing, let's take a three year project and it could be leading up to a World Cup. It could be a big corporate project. It could be something like a house build that you're doing. When you get laser focused over the long term and you don't take into consideration other things like people, family, wellbeing, health, all those things, then there's damage. Right. So I'm going to give you a bit of an overview on the grit model according to Laurie. So G, R, I, T. But she says start with the T. The T stands for truth, and it's about knowing and accepting your truth. Then the I stands for integrity, and it's about aligning to your truth, doing what you say you're going to do. The R is for respect, and it starts with self respect before you can then ask that respect from others. And it's about respecting that everyone else is different. Everyone else has got different tool sets and skill sets. And the G is, is generosity. And it's the mindset of abundance, not the scarcity. It's not all about you. So this is the grit model. And one thing that I took away that she said was like having a coach can be great. As leaders, we actually find it, you know, very difficult. We're almost limited in our ability to be objective around ourselves. So she said a great mentor or a coach could, can really help you to be more objective. And the costs of not being open to feedback are huge. You know, if people, you know, aren't aware of their limitations, then there's a blind spot there. And that's an area that you're missing out on. Right? It's an area that you're missing out to make your life better and make your team flow better. And I guess from people around you, whether it's your family, whether it's your team members, the team aren't given the opportunity to make mistakes and learn. You know, when you don't have that open mindset around feedback for yourself, often others will not be courageous to move forward and be bold. And when they don't see the leader growing, whether that's a parent, whether that's a teacher, whether that's a CEO, when people see the leader not growing and being open to feedback, then they tend to not grow themselves. So really, really important to really take that on board. And I want you to consider that grit model. What is your truth?
What's your truth around the actions you take, the way you show up, the dreams that you're after? We've all got different truths, but what's yours, that's most important and integrity? Are you actually aligning yourself to what you say you're going to do? You're going to do this thing, do you do it? It could be as small as cleaning your car. It could be as small as making your bed. It could be as big as I'm going to pay that contractor, I'm going to follow through and give that person the bonus that I promised them for the last three years. Where does your integrity show up in life and work? Where does it not respect? How much self respect do you have for yourself? Do you feed your body beautiful nutritious foods or do you eat junk? Do you take the time to go for that medical checkup, that dentist appointment, the mole check in case you've got a melanoma? How much self respect do you have for yourself? Where do you set boundaries? Do you have that disease to please? Where you always say yes to everything and you're a busy idiot? Well, that's a lack of self respect. I want you to look at where you can increase your self respect and in turn, you're going to have others respect you even more. And generosity, it's about that abundance, knowing that there's enough room for everyone. So how can you be more generous? You know, whether that's with your time, whether that's with your words of affirmation towards others, whether that's financially, generosity means different things to different people. But that's the great model. It was such an incredible conversation with Laurie. I urge you to go check it out. And just before we wrap up, if you get a moment to share the show with a friend, we've been in the last few months been so fortunate that we've been in the top right from first position in Armenia with the podcast and the Apple podcast charts, we're in the top 50 in Canada, we're consistently in the top five in New Zealand. In Australia, we're ranking very frequently as well in the uk, Ireland. So I want to thank you all for listening and for sharing the podcast with people that you love. That's what it's all about. And even though you might think that person you're sharing it with has it all together, they might not. And something on the show with one of my guests might just really inspire them and help them. So again, just to remind you all, hpl, it's coming up at the end of October. You can go and check it out. And a massive, massive thank you to our platinum partners, Brannigan's and the VVV Real Estate group. So for now, before our next episode comes out, we're getting close to episode 100, but for now, get out there and lead your life on purp.
Sam.
