Episode we had an incredible conversation with Noel Carroll. Noel is the coach for Yuki Tsunoda from Scuderia AlphaTauri Formula 1 team. I just wanted to share some of the key recaps and I would love if you take one of these and apply it to your life or your business and just see what difference it makes. Noel is clearly at the top of his game, working in the ultimate high performance arena. So look, first one's this. Work the process year after year. And when you work the process, and the process is a proven process, opportunities tend to present themselves. You know that old saying, don't reinvent the wheel? Well, literally at Formula one, that's what they execute on. Work the process. If it's a powerful process, opportunities will present themselves. So my challenge to you is, what's your process? If you're thinking professionally, do you have a proven process that has track record? If not, it's time to get one. Secondly, if you keep doing what you're doing, you're always going to get the same results. So if you're getting great results, fantastic. If you're not, you've got to change. You've got. You have to ask yourself, am I hiring the right people for the right positions? Am I developing leaders in the key parts and aspects of my business? Is my team functioning well?
Is my family moving in the right direction, or are we growing apart? Just think about what you're doing and do you need to make any minor adjustments?
Reflection and evaluation. This was something that came up with Noel quite a bit, and obviously he's working with a Formula one driver. There's only a handful of Formula one drivers and the planet and they're top notch. But he talked about the importance of reflecting on your performance. And for you, this could be in the corporate arena at work, this could be in your health, this could be in any area of your life. But he talked about the hot debrief. You know, that after the event, after the big moment where you fail or you succeed, debriefing right away and asking yourself, you know, what went well, what went wrong, what happened today? Let's take notes, let's take stock. But here's the important part. Take a day off. After that, then have another debrief. And so that's like something major happens in your life or your business. You talk about it right away, when it happened, then you take the weekend off, you take your mind off it, the emotions will start to dissipate. Then when you come back to it, say on Monday, have another debrief. And here's the questions that they use at Scuderia Alpha Tauri Formula one team. What do we want to do based on what had happened there and what do we not want to do? And the one thing Noel really underlined, and this really made me think of positive psychology, he said, look, focus on what you're running towards, not what you're running away from. So much more powerful in terms of the actions you're going to take. When you're focusing on running away, you're going to be fearful, you're maybe going to make mistakes, you're going to be less focused on the attention to detail that you need. So I'd really like you to think about that. What do we want to do? What do we not want to do? And then focus on what you're running towards. I hope those few takeaways are really powerful and helpful in your life and in your business. And I'm excited for our next guest, so I'll see you in a few days time.
