Welcome to Exit the Matrix Stories of Success with your host Jane Slack-Smith, where we celebrate the incredible journeys of individuals who've transcended their limitations and achieved extraordinary success.
Well, here we are back with another incredible guest. So on this exploration of what is it to live a life fully aligned to your heart's desires and create abundance in all aspects of your life, I was motivated by a conversation with Swati Martin, and she just dropped this little like nugget and said, oh yes, I made a soul contract when I was 21. And it resonated, and I thought about it over a number of days, and I was like, how do I not know what a soul contract is? And so I got to researching, and as I was researching, I was gathering all this information. Turns out there's books on it, there's all these things, and I got up to like 380 pages of information, and I thought, this is insane. I've just written a book about soul contracts and I don't know anything about soul contracts. And so my research kind of led me to then creating the Soul Contract course for the Exit the Matrix with Me people. And then I thought, wait a second, I know someone who knows all about this stuff. So my little tumble in, you know, initiate kind of exploration was in such a minuscule bit of what this amazing person Anne Curtis knows that I thought I have to come and talk to Anne. I sent her my little course so that she, she knows the, the very beginner brief of where we are. But Anne, welcome to Exit the Matrix with Me research project.
Thank you, Jane.
Well, I have known Anne for a number of years, and, and I have to say, um, I've actually had to kick myself. And when I was sitting there going, okay, I'm gonna have to go and learn this all myself, because we had discussed soul retrievals and the fact that you did soul retrievals. And in actual fact, about 2 years ago, someone who was working for me was, was absolutely distraught over the, um, uh, deterioration of her father. She was— he was in terrible, terrible pain. And I organized for you to, um, do a remote session with him. And he went from screaming with pain of having a shirt on him to waking up the next day and saying, I think I might go play golf, which was just unheard of because he hadn't moved and stopped screaming for months. And, uh, and so I was like, oh my God, I know someone who knows about this. So, Anne, how did you come into— first of all, your background to bringing you into being an expert into the soul?
Oh gosh, Jane, I don't know if I'd call myself an expert, um, but it's, it's part of the shamanic work that I do. So as a master practitioner of energy medicine, it's one of those things that we were taught, um, and learned. And you know, it's probably things that I've done in the past in other ways, you know, Um, but this is very, very specific, specific work. Um, it's an ancient healing method, Soul Retrievals. And so part of Soul Retrieval is, you know, to look at the soul contract that is there. But it is very ancient, and I learned this process and it was like the most natural thing for me to do, and I actually love doing it. Yeah, but it's very different.
You had this incredible corporate career and you were, you know, facilitating conversations with prisoners. You're going into prisons and you're going in and working with Indigenous people, and you were, you know, exploring, um, the advocacy around health, etc., and sharing that with governments. Like, how do you go from that type of day-to-day work to then being a shaman energy healer? Like, when— how does that happen?
Oh, that was there from when I was young, Jane. Yeah, that's the part of me that's always been there. But sometimes, you know, what happens in life is that we tend to put part of us to the side, and then we, you know, we find other ways that we go, um, professionally, you know, in relationships, etc. But there was always that part of me, and I used to be like two people, you know. There was the one who was doing the, you know, working, um, you know, in, in senior roles and, um, you know, in jobs. And then there was this person who outside of that was running visualization meditation classes, or, you know, had my healing room set up. And so there's always been those two sides of me which make me one whole person.
Yeah, so, so let's go back to— we, we— you said like the soul retrieval, you have to know the soul contract. Can you tell us what is a soul contract?
So a soul contract is, is a contract that we can have made, um, in another lifetime if we believe in that, or it's a contract that we can come through with as, you know, when we're born, or we make that contract at a very early age. We probably make those contracts as we move through life as well. We're not aware of it. So often it can also be generational. So a lot of what we carry, you know, would be the same as the beliefs of our mothers and our grandmothers and our great-grandmothers. And, and when you look at a lineage, we're probably carrying that same contract through until we become aware of it, and then we can break that out of us and move forward for the sake of those who come after us. So as a mother, you know, you're— if you had a, you know, a daughter or son, they don't have to then have that same contract with them to carry that forward because you can change that contract. But yes, very much generational.
So if I— so from listening to this, for me to kind of get an inkling that I've got a soul contract, would that be that I am repeating patterns, like there's a lesson to be learned, I'm just not learning it, like in my life, in my coming up with dating the wrong person or going into a job thinking it's going to be amazing and then it's not, and, you know, letting people let me down, like, is that kind of like if I sat back and went, hmm, there's a bit of a pattern here, would that be the first kind of, like, I guess, awareness that I've got a soul contract that may Yes, yes, it can also be in our health state as well, how healthy we are, um, what we're going through.
But it may also be that it's got to do with, um, how we react to certain people, because what that might be showing us is what's actually in us.
Okay, so there's this different way, like someone's being selfish, in actual fact I'm being selfish I can't see something that I, I haven't experienced, or I'm not myself.
Is that what you might be recognizing? That in the other per— you know, you're not recognizing it in yourself, you're actually putting it onto the other person, but it's actually something within you.
Okay, so I guess we're making an assumption everyone has a soul.
Oh, I hope so.
All right, so everyone has a soul. Does everyone have a soul contract?
Well, you know, it's, it's an interesting one. We all make contracts, don't we? You know, it's It's really interesting. There'll be, as you say, things that play out in life that we have these patterns and these beliefs and these behaviors, you know. It's probably a contract that we have, um, but you know, it comes from an original wound as well. That's another part of it that comes from, you know, with the soul contract. It just comes from another wound that we have, and we make a decision And that decision might be that— well, you know, give you an example of, of one I've recently done, a soul retrieval, um, a young woman. Um, what I brought back for her from her contract was that, um, she will never show who she truly is, the whole of her. And, and her reaction to that was, oh my God, that's exactly the words I say to people. 'You're never going to see all of me.' Oh, okay.
So it resonated.
Yes. So it's— yes, it's an interesting one that it usually does hit home. That's something that's in you. They go, 'Oh, oh gosh, that's exactly what I do.' You know, it's— and I do that journey. So I think this is different to a lot of situations, um, if I can explain that. When I do a soul retrieval it's actually me doing the journey for the client.
So you're like the proxy?
Yes, well, wouldn't say proxy so much. I'm, I'm the shaman, I'm the journeyer, I, I journey. But as a shaman, we actually have to be heal ourselves first before we can actually do those journeys. The reason being is that we don't want to go in and, you know, our beliefs get in the way.
Right.
Or our unhealed parts get in the way of what we're bringing back, because what we want to bring back for this person is not about reliving trauma or, you know, thinking, oh my God, this is my life. This is about bringing back those pure essence aspects of them, you know, and, and starting that healing process for them.
So when you talk about wound, I'm gathering what I'm hearing, it could be a wound in your childhood most often, like, this is when you're kind of forming that kind of belief around, I have to do something to feel, uh, whatever it is. But a 3-year-old dealing with a wound, the wound could be locked in their room because they didn't eat their dinner. Like, it, it doesn't necessarily have to be what people normally say is like some significant trauma, does it?
No, it doesn't. It actually doesn't. And sometimes it's what I bring back or I see is a metaphor for what it is. It's, you know, it's, it's them working that out. You know, I might see something really strange, but I've got to explain that to the person. But, you know, to give you an example, sometimes it is, it's very, it can be raw. Doesn't mean that the person's a traumatized person today, but it is, uh, something that is there. And, you know, for example, with another woman Um, with her, when I went into the wound to find that original wound, I, there were— I went into this chamber. So it's like I'm traveling into the, the lower world, into the sub— the unconscious world, and I have to trust everything that I, I see and feel, um, what I get in that time. I can't put any judgment around it. I have to trust. And so with her, it was, oh, I'm going into this chamber and it's dark. It's just dark. And then suddenly there's this little child, baby, there. And the baby's all alone. There's no one else in the room, and there's— in this big cabinet space. But in the distance, I can hear voices, like people sitting at a table having dinner. So when I relayed that back to this client, and she said, oh my gosh, she says, when I was born, my mother already had several children and couldn't cope, you know, with a baby. So I, for the first part of my life, I was brought up by my grandmother, right? Separated from my family, right? So she understood immediately what it was. And then, you know, when we then look at her contract, which is next step of I go in and bring that contract back, that was exactly where she was, you know, around relationships. So it was, it was, she was always distant or wasn't fully— she chose the wrong relationship for the wrong reason, and it was like a consistent thing that played out in her life. And then she would go back to a relationship that wasn't working, and, you know, I guess wanting that to feel safe in a relationship, but that safety wasn't there.
And is that awareness then enough to dissolve the— that soul contract?
Well, when we do soul retrieval, there's different parts of it. It's about integration, you know, it's about bringing the healed part back because there's another few steps after that. So we don't start— stop at the contract or the wound. I then go into another chamber which is called the Chamber of Grace, and that's when we're in our pure, you know, pure essence, our pure form. And that can show like an archetype archetype. Um, and it's, it's something that is just beautiful. And it's just—
this would be a great place to be. Like, if you could do one of these every day and go, now I'm going to Grace and seeing your essence. Like, how happy would that make you?
Oh, it just brings back that beautiful part of you, that part that you, you know, you want to honor and know. And, and so often people go, oh my God, you know, that's— oh my God, that's so beautiful, and I never thought about that. And or they're doing it in their life. But how it shows for me, you know, it might be that it's, um, someone who is caring for someone, but it doesn't mean they're a healer. You're going to be a healer in this lifetime. It means that's, that's their— that's who they are, you know, it's what they are. And then I go to another part of what bringing back that beauty for them and that healing and starting that healing journey, and I go into what's called the Chamber of Gifts. And that's where there will be a gift for them that I see, and I bring that gift back for them. And with the young woman that I just did recently, that was really interesting because what I brought back for her was an ancient ark, um, a little Egyptian, um, symbol.
Yeah, okay.
And It was really fascinating. And she went, oh, what is that? I don't even know what that is. And I explained that to her, and I said, well, you know, this is the gift. Anyway, she was— she called me on Saturday because she wanted to talk to me about her progress. And she said, you know, I was telling my mom— it's like a couple of months after, you know, our session— and she said, I was telling my mom about, you know, like what the gift was. And this is an ancient artifact, right? It's, you know, it's not something you would see every day in the way it is. And her mother said, oh, I have it here for you. Yes.
Oh, goosebumps. What's going on? Tell me, what— how did the mother have that?
She was gifted it when— a long time ago. and she always knew it wasn't hers.
Wow.
And so she's— and her daughter never knew she had it. She just put it away and, and said to her daughter, it was never mine, it was always going to be yours, but you can have it now.
Okay.
So the daughter's going, oh my God, you know. So, and, and there was another You know, the thing is, those gifts, those gifts that people recognize, sometimes it can be a paintbrush or a pen, you know, you need to write, uh, or you need to paint. It's sometimes they're funny little things, you know, and sometimes they're, they're just so amazing. And I mean, I, I had one woman who just went, oh my God, what you were just describing is— I have this sitting here beside me. I thought, well, that's your gift. And she said, well, that's come from someone else, you know, that was gifted to her.
Yeah. So, so what I'm getting here, like, you know, in this research of trying to find out why people might have blockages or have resistance to living their best life, having an abundant health and, you know, emotional relationships, financial, spiritual, there is something at play here that you may have been born with or may have come through circumstances. And an indicator is that you're repeating, uh, you get not getting what you want. You're potentially recognize patterns. And by going through this process of what you're saying is you, you recognize the wound where it came from, if it's yours, maybe ancestral, which I'm going to come back to. You then recognize there was a contract at some stage that was written somewhere, and let's just say soul or subconscious, that you're playing out to learn a lesson or to experience a different outcome. And then you go through this process of being in grace and seeing the true essence. Like we take off these, I think Sadyarthi, who I spoke to recently, talked about the 5 poisons. We take these back, we remember who we are. So we get back to this remembrance of the essence of who we are. And then we get this gift. And is the gift just something that kind of is a validation that this is real? We're not making it up? Like, because it sounds to me that that's the people that you've spoke— you, you've spoken about it— is them going, ooh, if I was in doubt, now I'm not.
Or is it something else? Because it's usually something they relate to very quickly. Or something that is absolutely beautiful. And, um, and that's something that, again, it's, it's, it's kind of like a heartfelt thing, you know. And it's like, you know, if it is like a paintbrush, oh my God, I want to paint, you know. That's, that's my vision for the future, is, is I'm painting. And that's what that's about, you know. And, oh, I really always wanted to write, and that pen is for me to write, you know.
Right. Um, and so that dissolving of the contract that doesn't serve you, is it just the awareness or is there a process or ceremony that also is involved in that? Or do you, you doing something when you're in the subconscious, you're cleaning it all out? I don't know.
It's all part of what we call illumination healings. So to even go into a soul retrieval, you would usually have at least 3 healing sessions first because we're working about clearing out all the chakras. And the energy field of the body. Um, but when I come back from my journeying, um, yes, I actually will blow into the energy field of the person, into their chakras, where I feel it's right to place, um, the good parts, you know, the— especially around, you know, that gift and, um, the grace. And if power animal might have come back too, and I bring that back as well and, and blow that in for them. And then I, I write down very quickly while I'm bringing this person back through out of this, and I write down very quickly what I've brought back because I can't be writing while I'm also doing this very intense journey. And so then what I do with them is they will have had 3 items with them and And those items to start with are for them to blow in the energy of the gift, the grace, the power animal, place them where they want them in their energy field. Um, but with the contract, you know, we then say— and sometimes the contract, they don't want to change it, or they're not ready, or, you know, it's not always that we want to. And sometimes it's a good contract, and that's a good contract. You might, you want to keep that and be aware, oh gosh, I did make that fantastic contract. So it's not always bad. But a lot of the time it is, and it's, it's quite negative to us. And so, you know, the encouragement there is the ceremony is for them to burn that contract. So to light a candle, or if they got a fire, um, to burn that contract. And then when they're ready, um, they then start to rewrite that contract as something incredibly positive of what it is that they want that contract, the, with the words to be. And then they can draw that contract, paint that contract, whatever it is, um, have it with them every day for at least 21 days. And so that's part of that process. Um, and now our process continues then as well, because as part of that integration of what's come back, we do what's called sacred drama with the person. And so what we do is we, we get them to step into the contract and step into the grace and actually have a conversation back and become that, and then have that conversation back. What are they learning from that?
An embodiment exercise.
And so they embody it, and then we encourage them to go out and, uh, have a bath, you know, in mineral salts, um, you know, walk in nature, just anything to, to ground them back and bring that into their body. And so it's a healing. It's not about, oh my God, this is the wound I had and this is the contract I had. You know, it's about—
it's a beautiful journey.
This is, this is the healing. Yeah.
So, um, one of the things I, you mentioned, and I've got as an indicator, is also health issues. So obviously with this employee where, you know, you'd stepped in and like in one session there was this extraordinary change. Is that, um, kind of identifying when you step into that energy field, identifying where there is something that's a blockage or a wound, or that's, that's— is it very clear to you? What's that experience like for you?
So being in the shamanic way of doing things, we, we do work with the chakras. So I step into their energy field, and even if I'm online, I can— it's not invading their energy field, but I can, you know, I bring a protection around them and around myself. So everything is done from a beautiful perspective, a very gentle, caring, uh, perspective. It's not about, you know, oh, I'm moving into your energy field. It's not like that because it can't be. Yeah. And it's then I use, um, very special stones I have in what's called my mesa. And those stones, um, have all been on journeys. And I will have these stones with me, and I will also indicate, um, check their chakras of the body. So all of the energy centers, the 7 chakras. And then I will check, and I might use a pendulum, I might use my stones, you know, I have different tools. But what I'll do is I'll find where the energy is stuck, right? That's my first point, and that's where I work from in that session with that person. And it's about releasing what's there, and it's quite a process to go through for them. Can be very emotional, uh, at times. If they're not— they're sleeping, you know, it's me doing the work. But it's very much about getting them to breathe through and to really focus and breathe through that whole process. Um, and that's the sort of healing that we do, this illumination, before we do a, um, actually do a soul retrieval on someone. Right.
I, I have to admit, I, um, I'm relatively new to the whole chakra thing, as you know. I'm on a journey of learning. And I was on a retreat, I think it was like 2022, with my coach back then. And, um, you know, we'd been doing all of these exercises. We're in the Redwoods in California.
It's amazing.
And he said, and this afternoon, if you're lucky, we'll do chakras. And I'm like, oh yeah. And then we're also gonna do crystal work. And he was like, no, we really are gonna do chakras. I was like, oh my God. And I had to apologize to my partner. I was like, look, I'm so sorry. I don't know anything about this. Like, I'm probably gonna be an absolute dud for you. And she was like, Jane, intention is everything. Like, you're a scientist, are you? Like, you know, intention is everything. And, um, It was funny. My experience was I, you know, we had to kind of put our hands up and down and across the chakras. And I definitely felt something really heavy, you know, in the solar plexus. And I remember saying to— and I had this kind of really quick little vision of like Crusades and like a foot— wasn't even a foot soldier. It was like a valet type person to a knight. It was like absolute lowest of the low. And, you know, this terrible kind of experience over many, many years. And it's almost like slavery, servitude kind of thing, and a lot of death and destruction. And I was saying, can I— I just feel like I need to push this. Can I push this? And I hadn't told her what I was saying. She's like— and she's just sitting there smiling. She's saying, yeah, yeah. And I remember just going, and I felt this absolute release. And, uh, and she took this big breath in. She's like, look what you did. I'm like, I have no idea what I did. I'm so sorry if it's gonna come back and haunt you. And I, and I said, and I shared with her this kind of like movie that I was seeing. And she was like, ah, I've had, uh, I've had someone tell me that before, that I've had a past life experience of that. I didn't realize I was still carrying the wound. And I was like, I'm so good at this chakra stuff, but it, it just kind of shows you, right, is that, um, even if you don't believe or you have no experience, you know, you need to know what you're doing. And as you said, protection and all of these extra things that need to be added into what a, a true shamanic, um, practitioner, an energy healer does. But it gave me a, a deep sense of the fact that we all have something within us that may be untapped. And, and maybe you, if you're in the right environment and, and the right people and you have the right attitude and you set the right intentions and you're there to serve, that we can access this information. And, and I think, you know, when I was kind of researching this, you know, how to write a soul contract and acknowledge what you have and maybe dissolve one that it no longer serves you, was that as much as my scientific brain was going like, I, I was brought up Catholic, I know there's a soul, I don't know where the soul is, I think it's, it weighs 7 grams or something, but you know, but at the end of the day it makes sense that if you're not getting what you want and you're repeating the patterns, and be it Hindi or Buddhism that says, you know, you've come back to Earth to keep learning the lesson you're supposed to learn, it just kind of makes sense to me that we need to look to what we almost can't explain to say, what is going on here? So with all that kind of, you know, skeptic come to, uh, to acceptance journey I've been on, you've worked with people who are, you know, the more logical business type people. How have you taken them on that journey and how, how have you found that breaking down that kind of the barrier that they might have to, and even this girl's father who was just like, I'm not into the woo, but 'You know, do what you have to do. I'm at the end of my tether.' How, how do you kind of navigate that conversation and that experience for them? Hello, just a quick message. I hope you're enjoying this podcast bonus session. Now, if you have heard this interview, then you're probably sitting in there going, 'What is this all about?' Well, this is all about my Exit the Matrix experiment. Now, I decided to write a book because I'm really interested in how do we go from the existence that we have now to exiting the matrix and living with intention from our hearts, following our heart's desires, but also creating abundance in all areas of our lives. And hence, whilst I've been researching this book, I thought, this is a really solitary journey. I want people to come on this journey with me. And hence, I've got this very special group. Now, come and join me the first month for founders is free. And if you decide to stay, fantastic. So what I'm doing is I'm interviewing incredible people. I'm getting insights about what's this awakening that people are getting, you know, what's this, the exit the matrix kind of sliding door moment for them. Now I've obviously run this podcast for over a year now and I have more than 30 stories, but I'm also interested in those people who are in this transformational space who are actually not just awakening themselves and they're awakening others. What is the mechanism? As Bashar talks about it, it's the permission slip. Are they going through astrology or meditation or yoga or breathwork? Are they just going within and getting a sense of what's really going on? So that's what all the Exit the Matrix experience is about. I'm going to let you get back to the interview, but if you want to join me, go to exitthematrix.today. /etmwithme, which stands for Exit the Matrix with Me. So that's exitthematrix.today/etmwithme. Sign up, I'd love for you to come along. I'm creating courses. There's currently courses in there around 4D gratitude. There's more courses to come. I'm creating custom GPTs on how you can exit the matrix and helping you uncover what lies beneath your subconscious and holding you back, and also other custom GPTs that I'm I'm sure you're gonna love. And most of the speakers are actually really motivating me. So I'm creating courses, I'm creating ebooks, I'm creating experiments you can try. I'm creating tools that you can use, and I'm also writing a book. So at some stage I'll get to writing the book. At this moment, it's just all about the research, and I hope you choose to join me because I'm really excited about this experiment. So I'll get back to the interview now. Enjoy yourself. And, uh, as always, here's to your success.
Oh, it's different with different people, Jane, and I think you have to be open to it. I think energy healing's becoming, you know, I might talk more energy healing than shamanic work, and energy healing, you know, is, is more out there these days, of course, than it used to be. And, you know, people talk about Reiki, so, um, And it's, it's, yeah, I think it's for me, oh, you know, it's, it's when I talk about the gentleness and, and, um, how important it is that we, we just clear those, you know, that disease, disease that's in our body. Um, some people get it, some people just, you know, they just want the healing. And, you know, it's, I, I guess it's a hard one to say, I say exactly this because I think for everyone it's different, you know, it depends on who's in to me.
Is it, is it people who, who haven't been on this journey before? Is it kind of like a last resort? They're like, look, so-and-so or my wife or someone said that this is, that you, you could do something. I've kind of given up. Like, is that how people get, like, are they at the end of their tether and they're like, okay, fine, breaking me, energy healing me, whatever it is, shaman me, what, do what you've worst. What have I got to lose? Is that kind of where people come to this work when they haven't had a spiritual path towards it?
Well, yes, that can, that can be it. Also that they are seeking, you know, they're seeking a lot of times, they're seeking someone to help them. Um, and other times they hear, you know, the impact it's had with other people. Um, yeah, sometimes they, they just want to open up to it, you know. It's, it's— I remember a businessman uh, late last year that I was doing, um, you know, sessions with. And, um, you know, to start with him, because he was so, you know, hyper with his business, I put him through a, a process of getting him out of fight and flight response. And, you know, an energy process with me holding, you know, different points on his, his body. And, and then I did the healing with him, and he got up and he went 'What just happened? I, I don't understand. I don't know what happened, but I don't know how I ever feel at the moment.' And he just said, 'Everything's different. I'm really calm.' Oh wow. He wasn't used to being calm and, and to— yeah, and, and to feel peaceful. He didn't know that feeling anymore. And so it was kind of like, we— instead of, you know, 'Oh well, what was all this about?' It's like like, oh wow, I need more of that, you know. So it is an interesting one, but it's, it's great when you actually, you know, take a chance with it. And, you know, it doesn't hurt. That's a beautiful thing. There's nothing in it that can hurt you. Um, but there was one— I, I will tell you that someone, a friend actually, who, you know, knows what I do but isn't totally not into any of this, and she came for a session as well, and I, I was working in her energy field and, um, and I said to her, now you have to stop thinking about your mother and how she had these mini strokes because otherwise you're going to create it in you. And she looked, opened her eyes and went, I was just thinking about that.
Wow.
And you know, it's so, it's not like I'm invading their feelings either in that time. It just means that I'm trying to shift them to a healing, not to a, you know, get buried in something that happened to their mother and therefore this is going to happen to you kind of thing.
So yeah, so this is interesting, right? I, um, I don't think I ever considered this, but I just assumed I was born, it was a new life, I've got an experience, it's all mine, you know. And I've heard you and other people talk about, you know, there's this ancestral, potentially there's an ancestral wound or you carry it with you. And, you know, I remember doing, I think it was, um, oh gosh, what's the, um, uh, far out. I can't, is it, I wanna call him Colin Bradley. Um, the, it's not EFT. Oh gosh, it's a practice. He's got a book and he talks about clearing. He's a chiropractor and he was clearing energy. He was finding that people who had sore shoulders always also had, you know, really, you know, carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. And he found that there was stories almost associated people had in common. And, um, and I was reading this and he was saying you can actually tell, and I think he was using like a pendulum or, or, um, muscle testing to see if it was your wound or was it, um, a historical wound. And I was like, hmm, there's more and more different people, some from this kind of science medical field, some from spiritual fields, some are personal transformational field, who are all talking about pretty much your product of your genes is what it comes down to. And then I heard something that really, I guess, rocked me, which was If we, as women, born with all of the, um, the eggs that can potentially make babies in us, it means that I was in my mother and my mother was in my grandmother. And so I was in essence there when my grandmother was going through war trauma of her husband being overseas, having 9 children, you know, losing children, having, you know, isolated on an island and all of these things. So that kind of makes sense to me that there— it is possible to have this lineage basically of experience that you haven't personally experienced yourself. Is that how it— it kind of like— is that a, a way of explaining it that kind of makes sense? So that's how I kind of think about it.
It's a nice way of explaining it. It is. It's also that we bring through, um, you know, whatever our parents— whatever happens with our parents, we take that on, as we know, as a child. And that's the way our life is, you know.
It's—
we, we have this perception that's what life is. So if your parents and your grandparents and their parents have been through, um, poverty, for example, and struggle in life, then you'd probably take that on as, that's my path as well. And unless you're aware of that, you stay in that unless you clear that and go, well, hang on, that's theirs. So we also do an ancestral thing, a clearing as well around ancestors and a process of releasing them and, and loving them, but not taking forward, you know, what they carried, because it's not yours to carry.
And by you clearing that in someone, it actually clears for their children as well.
Like, the aim is, yes, to clear ahead. Yes. And for generations ahead and behind, um, you're releasing the behind, right? But you, you're clearing for generations ahead.
In actual fact, we all have a responsibility for future generations to get this good, right? I think we're doing okay with people like you. Okay, so as you know, I'm learning this stuff. Shaman, I'm thinking, is a medicine man in, you know, a, a American Indian kind of tribe, someone in the depths of South America. You're a shaman. Tell me, what is shaman and How, how do you learn this? Like, how do you become— how did you become one?
Uh, yes. Um, a shaman is, is, is a healer, really, is someone who does healing. But I, I particularly wore something because I, I don't dress like a shaman, you know, like a lot of people dress as a shaman. And I don't go around saying I'm a shaman. I'm a healer, you know. I'm, I'm— well, I'm a healing facilitator. Because I'm not anything really. Um, I love that. And it— I don't have to dress a particular way. I don't have to be a particular way, though I know, you know, a lot of people do and then put themselves into that. It's more about, um, it's more about my heart, isn't it, really, you know, and, um, being in service to others. So that's how I kind of see it. Um, but yeah, it's, it's ancient healing. And, you know, the people that, you know, my, my journey comes through, uh, the Quero people from Peru. And I, you know, being an intuitive, I would tell you that there was many years ago— have to remember when, um, maybe around 2008, so not that many years ago. I was very, always very spiritual, always into my healing, what have you. And I had— I lived in Sydney and I had a broken foot, so I was wearing a moon boot and I was bored. And I still had a week to go with the moon boot, and this flyer turned up. I don't even know how. And there was this information about this event that was being held for 5 days in, in Byron Bay. It was 5 or 6 days. And there was an elder coming from the, the Queiro people in, in Peru, the shaman. And everything said, oh, you need to go to this. I rang up, instantly rang up the organizer, and she said, well, you know, it actually starts on Saturday, it's booked out. I went, oh, well, I just got this really strong, you know, feeling that I need to go to come to this. And I'm in Sydney, and you know, it means finding somewhere to stay and a flight and what have you, and within days. And anyway, she rang back and she said, well, and you can come. And so I found what I needed to, got on the plane, you know, with my moon boot, window. And it was fascinating. It was a fascinating time because the— this, um, uh, shaman, he actually couldn't, uh, leave Peru, um, at the time that he needed to be, to be there for the beginning of this. And that was a journey to watch how people played out around, I'd pay for this and this man's not here kind of thing. I was very calm about it and knew that, you know, he will turn up when the time's right. When everybody gets over this, he'll turn up. But I remember, and this is what drove me to this path was I saw him arrive and he came into the building that we're in. There was about 30 or 50 or so, I can't remember. There was quite a lot of us, you know, it wasn't 20 people, whatever. And I was sitting at the front and I was sitting beside, you know, one of the other participants. And as he walked into the room, you know, all his rainbow garbs, winter, you know, clothes in you know, warm Australia. And it— the words just came out of my mouth. I looked at the person beside me and said, Mother Earth just walked into the room.
Wow.
I could sense the smell of the earth. I could sense this, this being. And it was like, oh my God, this is just another level of knowing. Wow. And you know, this is so rare for them, you know, first time traveling to this side of the world, and I turn up there and don't even know what's going on, have no idea what this is all about. Um, and then it's taken until I finished working in 2023 to actually study, um, you know, to follow that path even further.
That's amazing. You have a, um, Munay Ki gift. Munay Ki. Can you tell me a bit about those?
Yes, so they're the rites from these, from the shaman. It's about the time to come, and that's what I actually learned, um, at the first time I actually did the rites. When I, as I said again, I was at that retreat and had no idea what I was doing, what was happening, um, but that was the first time. And then of course I, you know, have redone them. I'm now, you know, sort of a qualified teacher of the rites. Uh, so there are the 9 rites, and then there's also a new rite, um, which is the Rite of the Womb, and it's about the healing of the womb. Um, all very beautiful, very gentle, awakening different parts of us, uh, to go through.
Um, I do have on my wish list to attend one of your retreats for those. I'm coming to Sunshine Coast, um, or the Hinterlands. So, okay, I am getting some clarity around this, and I guess where I'm sitting with this whole soul contract is that there, whether we know it or not, there's something going on that's driving the way that we behave, how we turn up, how we process our thoughts and feelings and emotions and sensations and experiences. And, you know, if we look at this, there is the potential that there has been something happen in our past or something that we've carried with us that when we're aware of the fact that there is an orientation of action that we take in certain circumstances, which could be positive as well as potentially negative. Then that awareness allows us to, to, um, recognize with, you know, more obviously more easily with a guide like yourself, the wound. And then there is that retrieval component of what is that exactly? And what I love around your journey and ceremony is once again, that grace component of what is the true essence? What is it when you take this away? and he's the gift to almost like validate the fact that you're not going mad. This is really like, you know, this is really happening. And then the power animal that comes up. So it is a whole process. The course that I've created is just a very introductory kind of, this is something that you could potentially, um, be aware of. But with all of that in, in, I guess, mind, and, you know, from the frame of writing a book about What Holds People Back. How would you introduce this as a topic to someone? Like if I was going to write a chapter on, hey, there's, there's probably something going on that you're not aware of and your soul has written a contract that, that, uh, is playing out without your knowledge. How, how would be an, a non-threatening way? To discuss that.
I guess it's, it's, it's a— that's an interesting one, Jane, because first you have to be aware there might be something there, um, or realize that, oh my God, this keeps playing out in my life. I keep going into the wrong relationships. I, I keep falling into the same sort of job. Um, I've got the same illness all the time, or my shoulder's always aching, you know, and I can't find a reason for this to happen. If you're questioning, you know, when you're questioning what's happening in your life, I— that's probably the way to do it, I think, is to— you're questioning, you know, this is an opportunity. And I love your course, it's great, and you know, it's gentle. And it's, it's a journey, and people can take that journey over whatever time to do that journey. And we don't just have one contract, you know, we probably have several contracts, you know, and it's, you know, it's, it's not being hard on ourselves that we have these contracts. And I think that's also very important to say, this is just to help us move forward in a really clear way around— oh my God, yeah, I, I I had that, I had that contract. I, I put that in place and I've been living that. I don't need to own that anymore.
I love that. And you know what, I guess the thing is that the reason I asked that question is I know you get a lot of clients and, and I speak to a lot of people who it's like they're their last resort. It's like, you know, there's been a crisis, there's been a tragedy, there's been a trauma I can no longer live with. Like, you know, and I'd love to just be able to catch people before they get to that point. And just, you know, even if there's someone there who's listening to this, or, you know, how I write about this in the book is that it's okay to actually course correct whilst you've still got wind in your sails, because it's so much harder when you've crashed against the shore to actually go, okay, now it's time to, you know, start going in a different direction. That's a pretty good metaphor. I reckon I should use that one. But I think that's a great one.
I think you should use it.
Make a writer out of me yet. So, but I, I just love the, the way that You just don't push things. Like, I don't feel that you're, as you say, you're dressed in something mad. What? Okay, so I just have to like completely acknowledge how much you blow my brain at the age of 70, which I know you don't look like, but people are probably going to be shocked if they see the video. You've just started an MBA with the potential of going on and doing a PhD. Like, it's, it's not like I'm talking to someone who I could never relate to. You know, you've had the corporate job, you've had the significant roles in organizations, and now at this age you're starting an MBA. And, you know, I speak to people, go, I'm 30, I'm 40, I'm 50, it's all too late for me. Like, let me tell you about Anne. You know, so, you know, what I love about that is that once again, it's, you know, when you've got the wind in your sails and You know, you, you did say you can do this because you've healed yourself. So you're not bringing any of your stuff into what you're doing with the people you work with. But it just, I just want to acknowledge the fact that I just find you intrepid in your knowledge and curiosity and how you turn up so gently to serve people. I think it's an absolute gift and I'm so glad that you're in my life.
Jane, thank you so much.
I just, I seriously, MBA, like I remember in my late 20s reading the book about, you know, I'm doing an MBA and this guy's journey and I was just like, ain't gonna happen on my watch. And for you to turn around and go, well, my mom told me that I was a girl, I can't go to university, my brothers could, and I could be a secretary. And you went, oh, okay, you followed that path. You were not limited by the lack of knowledge. You gained the knowledge without having the formal piece of paper. And now at this age, out of, you know, this joyous adventure, you're going for the piece of paper, but it's the knowledge that you're after. So, you know, you're doing all these things in reverse, but it's just such an incredible inspiration to see you do it.
Thank you. That's why I'm now a life transition strategist. And that's what this MBA is all about, bringing all that to life. And, and my ultimate vision of supporting women, um, to have a place to come and rest and heal and rediscover their passions, their authentic self, who they truly are, and have the support and encouragement to go back out into the world to do what they were meant to do. Be the light.
How do people reach out to you? What's the easiest way, the website or LinkedIn or how?
Oh, it's email these days.
Tell me about email. Well, I'll send it to me, I'll put it below, but, um, we will definitely, um, well, I will, me and my team of thousands here, I will, uh, put, get your details and, and give the best contact. I know that she's on LinkedIn if anyone looking anyhow.
I am on LinkedIn, Facebook.
Um, okay, well, look, I really appreciate this conversation. I appreciate you clearing up the what a shaman is as well, because, you know, we, we have this kind of, uh, I guess, opinion. So thank you for not being, being that, um, because I'm sure they have a role for a lot of people in life, but I, I need to gently be introduced to these things. And, um, and also just having been on the, you know, receiving end of seeing what you've done for others and, um, creating such extraordinary changes. I know there's something to this, and I know that, you know, people who are feeling, um, barriers and blockages to living their true authentic selves, and they, they want to get to the grace chamber, but they're stuck and they can't unlock the door. Maybe it's with someone, you know, who can guide them like yourself. But also there's this acknowledgement that there's something written somewhere that you just probably don't know about. And, um, you know, by understanding what that is and getting to that awareness early rather than at some trauma stage, it allows you to actually activate that and change the course of your life to the way that you want to live. And that life of abundance, living aligned to your heart, you know, is what this is all about. So I'm so glad that finally I kicked myself and went, why am I not talking to the expert on this? And that you've brought your absolute goodness. So thank you so much, Anne. I really appreciate it.
Oh, thank you, Jane. And thank you for creating your course. And you know, that is a way for people to, you know, just to experience and see if there is a contract there that they can open up to and change.
