Have you ever tried on a lipstick that looked amazing on your friend but made you look, well, kind of tired? Or maybe you tried a hair color that you thought would make you look bold and rich, and somehow it just felt off. Here's the thing, it's not the color, it's the undertone. Your undertone, which is the subtle hue beneath the surface of your skin, and it's determined by your genetics. Specifically how your skin interacts with melanin, blood flow, and collagen structure. Unlike your skin tone, which can change with sun exposure or acne, your undertone never changes. You know, it's part of your biological blueprint. And once you learn whether you're warm or cool, your makeup, your wardrobe, and even your hair color choices will suddenly make so much more sense. So today I'm going to walk you through 3 easy ways to tell if you're a warm or tone. So grab a mirror and let's do this together. All right, the first thing we're going to do is the vein test. So this is the easiest test, it's the vein test. So my advice to you would be to find some natural light by a window, that works great. And I want you to look at the veins in the inside of your wrist, so right in through here. And I want you to think about now, what color do you see? If your veins look blue or purple— so we have blue blue or purple. So blue or purple, you're most likely cool toned. And if your veins look green or olive You're most likely warm toned. And here's a fun way to think about it. Cool tones have more pink, red, or blue in their skin, and warm tones tend to have more golden, peachy, or yellow undertones. And if you're like, Jen, this is kind of a gray area because I see a mix of blue and green. So blue and green, you're not just sure, but blue plus green, if you see a little bit of both, This is going to be more of a— marker quit working. This is going to be more of a neutral, more of a neutral, which is kind of the unicorn of skin tones, and we'll talk about that another time. So go ahead, check now, see if you're more blue, more green, or warm, cool, or neutral. So the next tip is going to be to look at your eye details. So this is where we're going to, um, talk about your eyes and not just the color, but the detail. So this one is underrated because it, but it's underrated, but it can be super powerful. So look in a mirror in natural light and take a high quality selfie and zoom in. So more of our cool toned eyes, they usually have bright icy features. So think like blue-gray, steel, cool green, or eyes with silver flecks. And the whites of the eyes tend to look crisp. And bright. Now, warm-toned eyes tend to have golden flecks or rings, like a gold ring around the iris. And so warm browns, honey, olive, amber, or even olive hues. And sometimes you'll see with warm tones a sunburst pattern radiating from the pupil. So if your eyes have golden tones, even in green or hazel, that's a strong indicator of warmth. So ask yourself, do my eyes glow like the sunshine or shimmer Like the snow. So tip number 3 is going to be our jewelry test, um, because your skin needs to know what it loves. So grab a piece of silver jewelry and one piece of gold. If you don't have any silver jewelry, you can always use a piece of aluminum foil, um, if you're in a pinch. So we want you to hold 'em up next to your face one at a time in a mirror and see which one makes your skin look healthier, brighter, more alive. If silver, makes you glow, you're more likely cool toned. If gold brings you to life, you're probably warm toned. And here's a bonus tip. This trick works even better if you try it with a, with minimal makeup on. So no makeup on and a white shirt or towel draped around the shoulders. See, this is all about noticing how your skin reacts to light and color, not just what you like. So let's recap your veins. If they're going to be blue or purple, that's going to be more cool. Green or olive, that's gonna be more warm. If your eyes are silvery, silver, have those icy flecks or crisp whites, that's gonna be more cool. If they're golden rings, honey hues, honey hues, that's gonna be more warm. And jewelry, if silver makes you glow, cool. If gold makes you pop, warm. And if you're somewhere in the middle or a little bit of both, you might be neutral, which means you've got a lot of flexibility. but also some other things to look at. So here's the truth. You don't need to guess anymore, and you definitely don't need to keep buying products, um, or trying colors that don't make you feel like you. You know, that's why at our salon, at J.
