In this instructional video, Jen Booth teaches viewers how to achieve flattering hair volume by first identifying where volume is needed for their face shape using a simple finger‑placement test. She explains that volume is about harmony, not just height, and demonstrates the test: place the middle finger on the chin, thumb at the ear, and rock the middle finger upward to see where it lands relative to the jawline or temple. Based on the result, she outlines three primary styling methods: (1) a round‑brush blow‑dry with root‑lifting products such as Densifique or Pureology’s Root Lifter, applying mousse or spray before drying and directing heat upward; (2) using Velcro rollers or a crown set after blow‑drying to add bounce while the rollers cool; and (3) strategic, soft back‑combing (teasing) at the roots with a close‑tooth comb and hairspray or a volumizing duster for a subtle lift. Throughout, she offers practical tips, product suggestions, and visual cues. The video concludes with a call‑to‑action: viewers can text “VOLUME” to a provided number for more personalized tips and product recommendations, and are invited to book a consultation for a signature style that lifts both hair and confidence. Jen also encourages subscriptions and engagement.

Hey, have you ever looked in the mirror and thought something's off? Like your hair looks fine, but it's just not doing it for your face. You know, you try to fluff it, spray it, flip it, but the problem might not be how much volume you have. It might be where you need it. And there's a super simple trick you can do right now to figure this out. You know, I learned this years ago from my grandmother who completely changed the way I see beauty. She said, you know, volume isn't just about height, it's about harmony. I remember I had a guest once who always curled the ends of her hair, but it felt like her face still looked tired or heavy. So we did this quick test, and when I showed her where she truly needed volume, everything clicked. She literally looked in the mirror and said, I feel lifted. Not just her hair, but her confidence. Alright. So let's dive in. Let me show you. So what you're gonna wanna do is you're gonna wanna take your middle finger, and you're gonna place it on your chin. So you place it right on your chin, and then you're gonna take your thumb finger, and you're gonna place it in the center of your ear. So right there, keeping your thumb in place, rock your middle finger upward. See, where does it land? Here to here. If your finger lands closer to your jawline, so if it was shorter here to here, then you need a little bit more volume here. But if this part, like for me, is longer from here to here than it is here to here, so for my face shape, the volume is gonna look better up here. So again, for example, if your finger lands closer to the temple or above, you need volume on top to create help height and elongate. You guys, it's like a mini facelift without the surgery, you know. And now that you know where to place your volume, let's talk about how. So number one is a round brush blow dry with some root lifting product like the Densifique or even the Root Lifter from Pureology, where you start at the roots where you need height, you know, using a round brush and you get in there with that blow dryer and really create that foundation. And then once the hair is about 80%, 90% dry, you can then use a round brush and direct the heat upward while lifting at the root. You know, make sure you use that volumizing mousse or root spray before blow drying. Another hot tip is Velcro rollers can help with volume as well, or crown set. So after you blow dry, pop a few rollers on the crown or in the crown or at the sides of your head depending on where you need the lift. You know, let them cool for 15 minutes while you do your makeup. Bada boom, instant bounce. And the 3— number 3 is strategic backcombing. So this is kind of like a slight teasing, and you can even use hairspray, or one of our favorite products is the duster that we have that will give you some volume. And so when you're teasing, you know, we're not talking about the '80s helmet hair. This is a soft, targeted teasing just at the base of your hair where you want support. Think of it like, you know, really locking in your style. So next time you feel like your hair is falling flat or dragging you down, it might not— it may be more than styling. It might just be placing your volume in the right place for your face. So if you're going to tease, just get you a comb where the The teeth are close together. You know, lift that hair up and just do a couple. I like to keep my pointer finger on the on the comb, and we're just gonna do a couple little presses there. So the eighties, a little softer version than the eighties, and you just kind of place it down. So if you love this, text the word volume, and you now you know where you need volume.
